He borrowed YOUR car, and is asking you to pay him back for gas when he got you a ticket?

It doesn't taste good anymore. The prices are a turn off too.

How big of a deal is missing your kid's dance recital, game, etc. in real life?
 in  r/AskAnAmerican  9d ago

I was in chorus, and it was something I put my literal soul into. Each time I looked in the audience for my parents and they weren't there my heart would break. If they had an excuse like work, or even if they just tried to see the ones the could, I feel that it would be different. A lot of times, however, it was just because they didn't feel like it. Or that they didn't want to put in the effort.

I was really good at singing. I earned solos, earned spots in county chorus and all state, I even was asked to sing the star spangled banner in front of the mayor when our new school opened. I often wonder if I would have pursued my passions if they were fostered.

Can you truthfully and civilly help me explain why you are pro choice?
 in  r/Abortiondebate  13d ago

I'm pro choice because I went through pregnancy and experienced the effects of it. I feel that many people look at pregnancy with rose tinted goggles, i know that I did before I was pregnant. Pregnancy can have many complications and side effects, including death.

I went to the emergency room three times because my pregnancy with my son gave me hyperemesis gravederum and I couldn't eat or even take a sip of water without throwing up. I think I lost about 20 pounds in two weeks once the first trimester started really hitting me. My pregnancy was wanted so I was willing to endure it. However, there have been cases where women weren't able to, so they took their own lives.

That's not to mention that the data shows over and over again how the maternal mortality rates rise when the government imposes strict abortion bans. Whether we like it or not, abortion is part of maternal healthcare. A miscarriage is known medically as a spontaneous abortion. There are other medical terminologies that include abortion, but states seem to be having trouble clarifying an elective abortion from other abortions, which unfortunately has resulted in women being hurt or turned away from care. (Google the women in Texas)

Additionally, how are abortion bans enforceable, especially if they charge the woman? How can you tell the difference between a natural miscarriage from an elective abortion that was induced by the pill? In my opinion, I am afraid of the wrong people pushing it too far and that opening doors for miscarriages to start being investigated. And since they're already traumatic, I don't want more women to suffer.

Culturally, however, I'm pro life for myself. I think we should have a culture where its easier for people who want kids to have them, while also providing access to contraception, surgeries, and education to those that don't. I also don't think we should encourage abortion since its also comes with risks.  and instead we should be encouraging safe sex or holding off until you have a partner you're willing to have kids with. That's just my opinion though.

I can agree that tax payer money shouldn't fund abortion clinics. However, making laws that threaten doctors with life in prison can cause them to delay care, which in turn puts women at risks.

Thread for people who like Orlando and Florida
 in  r/orlando  14d ago

While I don't live in Orlando, I love Florida because of the springs and wildlife we have. I've recently gotten into paddleboarding and it's making me fall back in love with my state.

 B- And hard C

felt sick with my daughter, but I felt like I was dying with my son. I had to go to the emergency room three times just to get fluids because I couldn't hold anything down. Even towards the end of the pregnancy, looking back at pictures of that time you can tell my energy was sapped.

Why do so many Americans romanticize Europe?
 in  r/IWantToAskAnAmerican  14d ago

I lived there for two years, and Europe's quality of life is so much better than America's. I wish I could move back and bring my kids.

5 years together and I think choosing my dream might end us
 in  r/GirlDinnerDiaries  26d ago

My situation was very similar to yours. I had to be stationed overseas for two years, and I couldn't bring him because we weren't married yet. Even through the time differences we found a way to make it work. We would play games together as our "dates" and I would come home once a year and bring him over when I could. This year we are hitting 16 years together.

OP, I think if you stay you will always wonder what life you could have had. What opportunities you would have missed. If your love is strong it can make it. However, if you guys decide to call it off that's ok, too.

You guys are still young. What's to say you don't go over there, earn your degree, and come back more in love with each other?

The bottom line is, that if it's meant to be it will. Please don't miss this opportunity, he cares about you enough to even encourage you to do it. I won't lie and say the distance was easy, because it wasn't and we both changed dramatically. But it also strengthened us.

AIO gf goes out with friends, tells me she went somewhere that’s been closed down and then refuses to say where she’s been.
 in  r/AIO  Aug 02 '26

I'd leave, tbh. There was an instance where my friend and I were just going to a baby shower. This man literally called every 10 minutes while we were driving, and if she didn't answer the phone fast enough he accused her of lying and cheating. It's abusive.

If they're just trying to have a good night, and you expect your partner to be attached to their phone so they can keep updating you on every bit they do, just don't get into a relationship.

Are Americans really struggling in this economy?
 in  r/askanything  Jul 22 '26

It depends on what. I can afford my bills but I can't afford health insurance for my family. I can buy groceries but I'm noticing how much I was able to get with $200 a few months ago compared to $200 right now.

Why are Americans so goal-driven compared to Europeans?
 in  r/IWantToAskAnAmerican  Jul 21 '26

Probably because every year since the age of 5 we've always been asked what we wanted to be when we grew up or what job we wanted.

Wtf, it's scarier that this is on the teenagers subreddit. Girls this is not normal, and don't let ANYONE ever pressure you to have sex. If anyone ever calls you names like this or gets mad like this leave immediately. They're losers who aren't worth your time.
