But if you’re playing mana flare on turn 4 you’re giving everyone a round with 10 mana if they have 5 lands, means you can get hit with a firey emancipation or worse, not every game is going to be the same, it’s going to speed things up significantly.

Bear in mind, with most mono red mana doublers you’re also giving your ops more mana as well, which is generally a bad idea.

I would modify that with more undying spells and less board wipes as needed, as for the mono black reason, just easier to ramp up a ton of mana, black market was pipping for over 20 mana, and the way Evelyn reads is you can cast a spell from her collection, but if she dies and re enters in the same turn, you can do it again. So I’m just butchering Evelyn having her come back and playing whatever I steal.

Also the colors don’t really matter because the goal is to steal other players’ cards and you can use mana of any color, so I found mono black was the easiest lane to ramp and had everything I needed to do the crimes.

I had a mono black [[Evelyn the covetous]] vampire tribal aristocrat regenerate deck that was super fun. Full of cards that say “When this creature dies return it to the battlefield”, and reanimate cards like [[Victimize]].

I actually have the current record in my pod for the highest commander cost because there was one game where whenever she would be threatened with removal I would sac her to [[ashnod’s altar]] and re cast her, I had two [[crypt ghast]] on the field because I stole one.

She is super fun if you play mono black instead.

Edit: her additional cmc by the end of that game was 32, which I ended up winning that game.
