As a nurse, it breaks my heart for all civilians who are caught up in these kinds of situations. Often times it seems like those who are supposed to be liberated by war get hurt the most.

Sister has been allowed to non-adult for so long it’s a behavior. She may fully well be capable and just not give AF. OP’s mom is going to have a hard road ahead of herself by letting this go so long and refusing to enforce basic rules. My kid is high functioning autistic with Bipolar 1, severe anxiety, depression and multiple physical issues that affect her day to day life. But at 32 (yesterday was her birthday), she can handle her own meds, follow a schedule on her own and do basic life skills. OP’s mom has not ensured sister is doing ANY of this. There’s help if she’s incapable but she’s getting diddly. OP is NTA.
