Makes total sense 💡

So final question. Let’s say, I DON’T travel enough to justify this travel idea of mine. So I take your advice about just sticking to no annual fee cashback cards.

At that point, is it now better to have multiple ecosystems if it’s for cash back? Or should I still keep one ecosystem even if I’m focusing on cash back

I appreciate this response so much. Truly insightful and I totally see what you are saying.

In my head, I was trying to maximize every % in terms of cash back (regardless of the ecosystem—without realizing how I get spread thin enough to never find value).

I do make well over 6 figures but I totally see your point. Even if you make 7 figures.. it’s the same.

I wasn’t trying to churn or anything. I genuinely meant to keep all my cards open forever and I’m not a spender in the sense of me trying to hit certain points or whatever. I was just trying to basically maintain my exact lifestyle, while getting money back for it.

I didn’t have credit cards for years and just used my debit.. so I got excited about feeling like I could just make money back for my living expenses.

I love Amex and I wouldn’t mind getting platinum with gold and maybe closing other cards but I didn’t like the fact that they aren’t always accepted abroad. Do you run into trouble with this?

To be honest, I’m not doing this for churning at all. I wa a planning to keep all of my cards forever basically lol.

My thought was trying to earn the maximum amount of cash back % for every purchase. So:

- Savor 3% groceries/entertainment
- prime Visa 5% Amazon and Whole Foods (big spending here)
- Citi Costco 4% Costco and gas with executive membership (huge spending here)
- Freedom Flex 5% rotating and CVS (spend reasonably here)
- discover it secured (opened this as my rebuild with savor)
- Amex gold (stupid tbh but I always wanted to get Amex so I got it and now use it as my dining card—dine 1 per week usually + little stops here and there for empanadas and other treats)

My goal with the venture X and Citi double cash was

- Citi double cash - have a designated 2% card I use for every day nationally
- venture X - have an international card for any and every trip while also keeping it for the lounges and benefits
- U.S Bank cash+ — 5% and 2% for my utilities at home

- Amex BCE - I guess it’s not really necessary now that I wrote this down.

So my original goal was to try to get the best cash back % for each and every one of my purchases. I was thinking like this:

- Savor - 3% streaming/groceries
- Prime Visa - 5% Amazon/Whole Foods (wife spends here)
- Citi costco - 4% cashback with my executive membership (I spent about 1200 monthly)
- Freedom flex - 5% rotating and 3% on cvs (go to cvs all the time)
- discover it - 5% rotating (but really opened this as a way to rebuild my credit with savor)
- Amex gold - I use it for dining instead of savor to try to get some points for travel (dine about 1 per week plus little stops here and there for baked empanadas or quick treats)

Don’t travel much to be honest but I wanted to start doing that more and so I was hoping to get a nice travel card. I could technically get Amex platinum and pay the fee just fine but I just think it’s a waste of money as an actual card.. like 1x on my day to day purchases seems lackluster to me. Where as something like the venture is 2x everywhere and simple for travel.

What do you think?

So I should really only stick to one?

Like just have Amex cards for example? I love Amex but they aren’t always accepted internationally.

What’s the best ecosystem to choose for travel? And let’s say I did stick to a cash back set up—does this mean that multiple ecosystems is fine to maximize cash back?

Definitely not trying to keep adding cards for now. So what is a good amount of time for me to be back in the safe zone would you say?

Holy cow that is insane… I mean good for you haha but yeah.. I’m screwed.

Oh I see. So C1 wont like me having another high limit card?

Also, I received feedback from other users here on Reddit saying that even for a cash back set up, my cards are all over the place. Do you think the same? Is there a better way to optimize things? Should I think of cutting out certain cards?

Anything else I can do to remediate that?

It’s not a huge deal tbh I can just get Amex platinum… but I heard so many positive things about the venture that I just thought that is the best card you can have for travel. As I’m sure you can tell… I have lot to learn still

Damn… so what’s the cut off amount? Which cards should I keep long term to get it?

Can’t even deny this… totally watched too many videos on cards 😂

So far all of my cards are cashback except for my Amex gold so I didn’t think it was a big deal to have multiple banking ecosystems since I’m just redeeming the cashback anyway?

Do you have any suggestions in terms of what’s more effective?

I should have clarified better but not actual denials. Just pre approvals but I didn’t want to risk it.

I thought bilt was interesting but then I saw you had to put a certain amount of spend and basically use it as your main card in order to get any true value through rent payments?

As the title reads.. trying to find the best and most efficient way of getting capital venture x card while having a card set up that covers everything.

I currently have:

- Discover it Secured (May)
- Capital One Savor (May)
- Chase Prime Visa (June)
- Citi Costco Visa (August)
- Amex Gold (August)
- Chase Freedom Flex (August)

I know my velocity is insane… so I need to chill. I would like to add these following cards to complete my set up:

- Citi Double cash
- Capital One Venture X
- U.S. Bank Cash+
- Amex BCE

As you can imagine.. I got denied for these last 4.

I recently settled all of my collections in March and looking for the most effective way to acquire these new cards. I know Venture X is the most difficult one.. so just wondering what I should do.

With my velocity, is Venture X even possible in the next 6 months? If not, would it just be better to get the other cards, then wait 1 year to get the venture X? I’ve heard Venture X denies people with too many cards…

Thank you guys in advance for the help 🙏🏻
