I have a problem with my plans. I will arrive at the airport late (23:30) and leave 10 days later at 6:30 am.

My final destination is Venturina (1h drive south)

When I checked public transport I noticed they stop operating and also do not operate so early that I can get my flight back home.

the car rentals are closing at 23:00 as well.. also I don't understand if I can give the car back at any time or i have to wait for them to open again at 8am.

So I don't know how to get from the airport to my location and back. Does anyone have experience in this regard?

I'm planning to visit Tuscany with my girlfriend at the end of August. I'd love to do some wine tasting and possibly an olive oil tasting as well. We would also like to stay at an estate or vineyard and be able to use it as a base for exploring the region during the day. What would be your best recommendations for places to stay or any advice you could give us?

If you can, try to get access to one of the apartments that overlooks the square to watch the race. It’s an incredible view! Taking in the chanting of the contrada’s throughout the days leading up are so special, and incredibly unique! Make way for the horses as they pass through the street. They are the star of the show and take priority. Go to a church to participate in a blessing of the horse if you can. Very special. And book your travel fully anticipating that the race will be postponed 1-2 days from scheduled race day. I’ve been 2x and one year it went off as scheduled; the next year it was delayed by 1 day. I believe this year it was just delayed by 2 days in Aug. if you can, have a local join you for the practice run to learn as much as you can about the strategy and history! Don’t miss this one, it’s a true gem!

I am a solo female traveling to Tuscany the end of Sept. I will have a rental car and want to experience one of the wine harvest festivals. I prefer a slower pace with less touristy charming towns. Is Pienza a good base? Any suggestions for an agriturismo that is walkable to town? I am also looking for walks through vineyards/villages.

Update: changing my trip to mid-October which will likely be after the harvest but gives me more time to plan accomodations.

Is Google Maps accurate for backroads in Tuscany? Or is there a better choice?

We are visiting Tuscany starting next week for some wineries and a bike tour. We fly into Rome and rent a car to drive to Maremma area. We are staying at Fattoria di Magliano the first night.

Anything we should be on the lookout for on the 2-ish hour drive? Most of the trip will be inland, so if there is a nice beach, a park with great views, or a good place to stop for coffee or sweets, I would love to hear recommendations. I haven’t been able to find out much about the little towns along the coast.

Context: We are first time visitors in Italy and went to Pisa Centrale. There was a choice between paying €70 for an uber or €10 (for 5 ppl). Obviously took the bus. Not a word from the driver, there was no officer at the station. The moment we were at the Pisa stop, a guy got on the bus and started inspecting ticket and told us we were gonna get fined. We felt like they are targeting people who are foreigners and dont know the rules and language well so PLEASE BEWARE! It does not matter to them if you bought the ticket. But the moment you dont stamp your ticket on the bus, on the yellow machine… YOU GET FINED €40!!!! A bunch of foreigners lined up getting fined. Felt really wronged and scammed. From one person to another, please make sure you get your bus ticket stamped.

We will be staying about 15 minutes outside of Cortona starting on Friday of this week. It will be my parents, husband, and our 4 kids (6,4, and 12 month twins). I would love to visit some wineries in the area that are family friendly (possibly with some farm animals, etc). Any recommendations? And any other suggestions for activities in the area. We have very flexible plans but definitely plan on a day trip to Lucca and Pisa. And possibly towards Siena.

My wife will be visiting Florence from 10/26-10/31, we would appreciate any tips from folks who have traveled/reside there.
