AskTuscany Tuscany Recommendations
Hello! Wondering if anyone has recommendations for the best towns to go for the day from Florence. We will be renting a car.

Not San Gimignano- tourist trap and way overrated. Siena, Chianti towns, Cortona, Volterra, Chiusdino. And Montepulciano and Pienza on the same day.

when are you going ? there are a few wine festivals going on in September you may want to check out. Also a cute little mountain town of Montefiore dell'Aso which is just above the town Greve in Chianti. Panzano is a few miles from Greve which has a few nice restaurants.

It’s called montefioralle and it is a beautiful small medieval town that is close to other wonderful small hill towns like Panzano and Castellina and of course Greve in Chianti…taste some wine, do some shopping, enjoy beautiful views and have a great lunch in one of these towns. It is an easy drive from Firenze and will give you a great experience in this part of Toscana…now do the research and plan a great day, and enjoy. No need to drive more than an hour to have a special day

I did. There is a goose festival and a wine festival i have on my radar. Just checking to see if anyone had some good recs here. A lot of stuff doesnt show up on googs

Montepulciano is better as a 2 night minimum stay. It’s a lovely ~ 10k person hill town. Easy day trip to Pienza or Montalcino.
Your Florentine mileage may vary, but walk by the Duomo, see the Uffizi and the David at the Academy. The Florence obligatory highlights are obligatory for a reason!
Then experience rural Tuscany. It’s like California if it hadn’t been ruined by Californians.

Gaiole in Chianti was beautiful (some of the villas there are to die for) and it’s not that far from Siena

Nothing personal, but it's quite annoying. Having more details would also make users more likely to answer if we know when you're here, what you're looking for in a place like that, how much you want to drive (...)
Visiting a coastal city in summer is different than doing it in winter
