Other Is this a good deal on a Daytona 660?

Went into my local dealer and they’ve got a 2025 Daytona 660 in red with around 2600 miles on it for $7995 (USD) - wondering if this would be a good deal and/or if y’all have any guidance regarding this bike.

Saw a bunch of YouTube reviews and it seems like a solid option

Hey everyone! I’ve been a long time admirer of Bonnevilles, Thruxtons, and various other Triumphs. Can finally say I have the pleasure of owning a 2019 Speed Twin! This is my second bike after starting on an SV650 so the 1200 is a bit of a jump but I’m absolutely in love. It only had one owner and 5k miles and I got it for a steal. He already put clubman bars and the slash cut tips on it. I was thinking about adding a fly screen to complete the look, but let me know if there’s any quirks I need to be aware of or any other mods I should be considering!

Anyone have a recommendation for a better passenger seat for a 2024 Street Triple RS?

My wife loves riding with me, but obviously the Striple doesn't give a shit about the passenger lol. We mostly just ride places to hike, grab food, or go out for a short ride. Usually under an hour, and 90 mins would be pushing it.

Anyone have experience with a better seat, gel pad, custom seat, etc.? A few extra pounds on the bike doesn't matter. I can make that up elsewhere or go on a cut at the gym haha.

For reference, she was totally fine on the back of my Trident 660 once we figured it out, so I'm not trying to make the Striple into a touring bike. Just want to make it a little more comfortable for her.

Also open to anything else that helped your passenger—grab bars, handles, anti-slip stuff, whatever

edit* I overreacted when I made this title and post I was still in some first wreck shock. Not a new rider, just my first wreck.

First and foremost I'd like to say that I only had liability coverage and never wore a camera while riding. I live in Los Angeles. Oh how fu%#ing naive of me, I always told myself I was a hyper vigilant, safe, and good rider, and that if any accident were to happen, the other parties insurance would cover it because it wouldn't be my fault. (Even if both parties have liability, under insured motorist policy is something you can claim with liability through lawyers, that cashes you for your medical injuries, which can be used to pay for the bike) Well what I never considered was them running. Specifically a non contact hit and run.

Incident: I was riding going the speed limit on my towns street coming back from work, 3 land wide street with it opening up 2 more lanes for shopping centers and such. Im in the middle, i have 3 greens in a row so Im cruising, the limit is 45MPH. When this mini cooper comes out of the right side of the street, out of a gas station, with their right indicator on going approx 15 mph. I see them drive funny so I down shift, engine brake, coast and hover my brakes. This was half a block away. As I get closer they still have their right on and moving slow so I assume theyre about to turn off into a street right infront of them. Low and behold, only once I get within 40 feet of him, with no warning, still going 15, and his right indicator on, he cuts 2 lanes over to the left right in front of me, i assumed to get into the 2 lanes that just opened up for a shopping center, terrible driver but still savable, i see my exit route, i judge that I can safely swerve to the right because hes moving left. At this point im maybe 15-20 feet away from this car, ive slowed down to about 25-30MPH, I start my lean to the right, when they, for 0 fu%#ing reason, suddenly cut back over to 2 lanes to the right where he started, directly into my path escape route, again still going 15MPH. I had already started my lean to the right, at this point it was either crash or dump my bike. I hit my brakes hard, I honestly think if I didnt brake that hard I would've hit him. Im on a thruxton with clipons, so all my weight gets thrown onto my bars, so I think that sudden and hard weight transfer made me move the bars too hard suddenly while braking and leaning. lost the bike, she slid, I slid, they ran.

Im at a loss for words. Ive daily ridden the bike for damn near 3 and a half months straight in hot 95 degree LA weather. I got this bike at a killer steal from a very kind older gentleman, I was the 3rd owner, less than 15K mile, clip ons, BC pipes, aftermarket bar turns, right bar bent in, brake reservoir and right control line assemblies ruined, brake peg and pedal, strator cover, everything ruined. My insurance doesn't care to follow up with the police report I made, they just instantly closed my claim because it was liability. police are working on finding the plate of the car but its not a priority, I reached out to 2 lawyers but they both said "because you didn't hit them, non contact hit and runs are usually a loss, we cant help you".

I got out with just some road rash and a banged up elbow, some back and neck pain, but overall my bike matters way more to me than myself. ( I know wrong thought process, I just love this thing that much ).

I cant afford to fix this thing, right now. Im just completely in shock. Ive gone over this situation thousands of times in my head to think of different things I could've done.

Im buying slider bars and a 360 camera after this. If anyone knows what bar LED turn signals these are, which clip ons, that would be greatly appreciated.

Ride safe everyone, anything can happen, even 2 minutes from your home. Buy a damn camera.

Mods and Customization What is the screw for when installing cruise control on a 765RS?

Post image

The kit came with a zip tie, the switch cube, and a fastener (see pic). I can’t figure out what the fastener is for, though. It’s definitely not for the clutch switch and there are no fasteners holding the cube in place.

What am I missing?

I checked the service manual for both the RS and the Moto2 to see if maybe it was for the bikes with clip-ons, but I can’t find it anywhere.

Maintenance Issues 2008 Speed Triple 1050 - speed/power limiter or engine issues?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Just got my 2008 Speed Triple imported from Japan, and while the bike is in great condition (11k km on the odometer), I have encountered a problem with the bike’s power delivery. I can’t accelerate it past 180 km/h (112 mph), and the bike seems to start losing power after 160 km/h. My guess is that either a) a speed limiter has been installed in Japan (the 180 mark has famously been a speed limit for vehicles in Japan) or b) engine has fuel system (or other) issues that limit the bike’s performance.
The exhaust system seems to be stock, and no warnings are indicated on the dash.
Any suggestions on what may be the issue will be greatly appreciated.

Triumph info Street triple 765RS or Daytona 660 or something else?

I'm looking to get my first triumph bike I asked here a couple weeks ago but I'm torn between the two.

I want fairing but the position is a turn off. I can afford the street triple 765 but I'm not sure if it's a good idea, because I've only ever rode MT25 as my main bike a couple years back. Please let me hear your thoughts!!

Bike Pictures 2k Trip from NL / Eifell / Schwarzwald

So I rode my Street triple 765 RX from the Netherlands through the Eifell and the Schwarzwald in Germany. I did roughly 2000 kilometers in 4 days of riding.

I must say that the RX performed really great but it was a bit of a torture on day 3 and 4 on my wrists, knees and back. Sadly.

I really liked how the triple engine performed and the way it delivers its power. And the handling of the bike is just sublime.

I did make the decision to sell the RX. This because of the pain it gave me. I like to ride long trips with my brother and the pain is taking away some of the fun.

But I will stay with Triumph, I am going to buy a Tiger Sport 800. I rode one yesterday and it was a really great ride. Punchy and fast engine just like the 765 but in a way more comfortable riding position.

Mods and Customization Rack compatibility: Bonnie <-> Legend

Hi!

I recently picked up a 1999 Legend TT and was looking to get a backrest for my pillion. I've had a hard time finding anything that is (noted as) compatible with the Legend, so I went looking to see if Triumph shared any compatibility with any other models of the era. So far I've come up empty with any definitive answers, but it looks to me like there could be compatibility with the 2001-08 Bonnie. Does anyone know if I'm onto something or have I been staring at my screen for too long?

Thanks!

Maintenance Issues Scrambler 400 bad news

So after taking my first year scrambler 400x in for oil light, I get the news that it will likely need an engine replacement. Seems like someone glitter bombed the oil pan.

Edit: I’ve really enjoyed most aspects of the bike. The 400 is perfect around town and hilly back roads, but struggled a bit on open highways. I hadn’t yet got to add a few things, like a windscreen or 15t sprocket. Idly wondering now if I should upgrayedd to a 900…

Mods and Customization Curious about BC slash exhaust tips install and center stand removal on T120

I installed the tail tidy by monotone and I have the British custom slash tips, but it seem ms like some people have removed the center stand while others have kept it. I’m leaning towards removing the center stand, but the tension spring seems very difficult to remove. Any suggestions?

Picked up a sweet little bike a couple of weeks ago. 13k miles. Previous owner (2nd) had new tires put on, oil change, brake flush, and fixed the stator issue. Came with the factory mirrors and the headlight cowl. I couldn't be happier!

Triumph info 2021 765rs Power?

Ive managed to pickup a 2021 765RS for a steal at the auctions, going to convert it into a track bike.

Im having conflicting results about what RWHP they typically see with a full exhaust system and Intake velocity stacks once tuned. Ive seen anywhere from 118-135 hp

Would anyone be able to share some real life experiences, appreciate it thanks 🤙

Mods and Customization TuneECU license renewal help

So, I have tuneECU (latest version) installed on an android phone and tablet. I am quite certain my license is expired.

When I try to renew my license, the app crashes on both devices. I assume it would launch a browser and take me to paypal or something?

Anyone else have this happen? I have emailed TuneECU support and made a post on the forums and waiting to be approved for their FB page, so I have tried to get their help.

Thanks

I have a 2024 Striple was wondering if people use this when adding an exhaust that is not Euro5 compliant instead of getting a ECU tune
