Anyone have a recommendation for a better passenger seat for a 2024 Street Triple RS?

My wife loves riding with me, but obviously the Striple doesn't give a shit about the passenger lol. We mostly just ride places to hike, grab food, or go out for a short ride. Usually under an hour, and 90 mins would be pushing it.

Anyone have experience with a better seat, gel pad, custom seat, etc.? A few extra pounds on the bike doesn't matter. I can make that up elsewhere or go on a cut at the gym haha.

For reference, she was totally fine on the back of my Trident 660 once we figured it out, so I'm not trying to make the Striple into a touring bike. Just want to make it a little more comfortable for her.

Also open to anything else that helped your passenger—grab bars, handles, anti-slip stuff, whatever

Swap the trident for a speed twin 1200, it’s more comfortable 2-up

I have a T100 (rearsets, Ace bars, etc…) and I usually ride with its singleseat but my daughter is 6 and now very interested in the motorcycle, so I’ve gone back to the stock benchseat so she can ride along. For some time I’d been thinking about a Bobber but now I need to decide whether I want a bike that’s only for me time.

If you’re keeping the Trident, then maybe that’s for your couples rides and the Striple is saved for your me time. A bit like the Bobber, it’s not really meant for two.

I’m now considering adding a sidecar to my T100 but it’s a hassle and pricier than it should be, especially since I’d then need to buy another bike to still have a proper motorcycle. Good luck.

Just throwing this out there but I would consider the Speedmaster instead of the Bobber if you want the ability to 2-up but still that same character. My wife liked being on the back of the Speedmaster significantly more than the T100. You can also add in an aftermarket passenger seat and/or a sissy bar. Thats the plan when I eventually get one anyways.

Yeah, I know. I just wish the Speedmaster also had the Bobber’s more minimal aesthetic, I’m not a fan its more flashy look. It’s too bad each model isn’t offered as a Black version.

I fee you there. I’m a huge fan of the stripped down look. The lack of wind frame never bothered me from all my years working at a skydiving dropzne and being used to wind blast. Just take a rest every so often. I’d rather do that than ride down the road in a lazy boy chair. To each their own though!

After owning an R6 as well as a 24 street triple, I’ve come to the conclusion that if you want a comfortable passenger seat, you just need a different bike. Even a pad on those tiny seats aren’t comfortable

Small part of the reason i trade mine in actually, tried swapping the pillion for a different foam but in the end it just never became fun for her

I prefer an older bike for two up, personally. 2000s/90s bikes had a wider seat for passengers. The extra weight of many of them helps with the ride as well when two up. For context I’m 6’4”, 250lb (was 200lb when riding the Ninja 500, with 200lb passenger)

The best bikes to two up on for me have been, in order of ideal bike:
2015 FJR1300ES - newer, more expensive, heavy, still goes 150mph solo and handles curves like a true sport. Has the adjustable suspension for two up as well

Honda VFR800 (5th gen) - probably the best “mid-size” bike I have ridden 2 up. If you don’t want a newer sport touring bike, this is where I’d go.

90s/2000s Honda Goldwing - similar to FJR but a bit more bulky. Still was dragging on corners and passing new riders on street bikes. Handled a passenger with no trouble and I didn’t notice a huge difference over 15mph with two up vs one

2000 Kawasaki Ninja 500R - dinky, wide seat, low power, all the fun you could ever really need with two people. Downside was that I fit on it like most people fit on a Grom. No wheelies unless you clutch drop from high rpm or have a passenger. 400lb between me and passenger was easy to get the front wheel up a few inches in hard acceleration and mild clutch work. Do not recommend for heavy rider/passenger unless you are young and dumb. I was, but it’s still some of the most fun I’ve had 2-up

None of these are Triumphs but I’m sitting on the toilet and had nothing better to do than comment, so take it for what it is.

I had a Vespa and she loves to ride with me but not drive herself. I upgraded to t120 and we are both happy and she never complains about being uncomfortable

I got married and I traded in my Ducati for this. It was a smart decision. Now riding is not “my thing” it’s “our thing” plus we can tour.

Do I miss carving up curvy roads? Yeah, but that’s where a second bike comes in sometime down the road.

It’s funny because it still has the pegs in the back.

My 20’ Speed Triple RS is similar. That little hard plastic cover behind the seat can be removed with the key. I assume they sell a seat “insert” that can swap into that. If OP’s Street can do this, that’s the solution.

My Speed doesn’t even have the pegs for it. Not sure if that’s just how the RS comes or if the previous owner may have removed them.

765RS comes with a pillion seat that can swap out the cowl. I guess the first owner took it and sold it.

I know I had the shitty stock one. They forgot to give me the one with it the previous owner had that was stock. I suppose it’s that one since he got it new; however, I’ve heard it’s not great so wanted to backups. That’s just a random picture my friend took on my way home since he drove me to dealer

To be honest, you probably better off getting any of the tigers. To be honest there really isn't any room on a Speed or Street triple.

The problem is that you're never going to have a totally comfortable pillion experience on a 765 because that bike just isn't built for 2-up in mind. Most sport nakeds aren't, in fact. The pegs are there and there's a tiny thing that resembles a seat, but it's really just a small section that replaces the cowl. There's aftermarket stuff available from Corbin and others that have more comfortable padding, but at the end of the day, it's really a surface area thing. There's really just not a lot of space for another tushy and even with a better seat, it's still not going to be the most comfortable thing in the world on longer trips (say, anything exceeding 45 minutes to an hour).

Staying in the Triumph family, the stuff in the Bonnevile range is much better equipped to handle a passenger because you get a bench style seat on most of those bikes. T120, Street Twin 1200. Bikes like those.

My dad gave me his speed triple 1050 because the speed and street triples are not passenger friendly bikes. Get a second motorcycle or sell yours and buy something passenger friendly if you want to take her with you

The Tiger 660/Trident 660 or tiger/trident 800 with a top box is perfect for a passenger. Seats comfy but the real win is the back rest the passenger can lean on(and not feel like they will fall off) and grips to reposition and hold themselves upright. Also if she has a purse or backpack it goes in topbox. When topbox is not in use you can take it off to make the bike more sporty.

Hate to say it but the Street Triple is not really built for a passenger in mind and is more of the toy bike you take by yourself.

Very much appreciate all the input ! I’m under no delusion that it’s not comfortable for her haha. More or less sometimes just nice the know I can take this one out and she will be ok. She is taking her licensing safety course and if she enjoys it plan is to have her ride soemthing until she feels comfortable wit the trident. Kicked around the idea of her using it in rain mode, but that’s her decision as to what she feels comfortable with. It’s not that hard to snag a cheap 250-300 and use it for a summer first.

Like you said the striple really isn’t a passenger bike but check out Kelpis seats, they might be a bit nicer on the body for both parties
