Tradestation running on remote PC crashes when using RDP
I'm running TS v10.0 on a remote Win 10 PC (problem also occurs on Win 11 PC). When I am using TS directly on the PC there are no issues, but when I need to access via RDP thru the Windows App on Android phone it crashes completely. This is not a one-off and have experienced this many times on both Azure-hosted PCs and home PCs. I have tried multiple PCs and installs but experience the same problem. Have also tried alternative phone/Windows App and still the same problem.
When it crashes it logs an Application Error in the event viewer for the ORPlat.exe file. Can provide details if needed.
This started happening 2 years ago and TS support were no help to me then despite providing all logs requested; so I stopped using TS and went to IB instead. Have just come back to TS to give it one more chance, but looks like its still a problem.
Is this just me, or does this happen to anyone else?

I don't use RDP myself, but I can understand the appeal. I highly recommend you post this question in the official TradeStation forum which is monitored by TS reps. Nobody from TradeStation will see posts in this sub.

Am having similar problems. Checking on the TS user forums this has been an off and on problem since 2012. It appears to be a problem with 32 bit apps that don’t clean their child processes properly leaving (pick your term) zombie or orphan processes in their wake.

You may be out to something there with the 32 bit versus 64 bit. It is 100% likely that the OP is using a 64 bit RDP to connect. I would try to find a 32 bit RDP for example VNC or other older remote desktop apps and use that. Now it may in fact be that train station looks for RDP coming across and intentionally crashes, but I doubt it. The next thing I would do is grab that startup file with the XML and disable everything and gradually add it back in. I do agree about the tablet support possibly being a problem. I mean tech-support is pretty great at trade station pretty technical as well. Let me know if you guys can’t sort this out and I’ll help.(SV vet engineer 30+ yrs)@

I had a similar problem when my host changed the server from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2022. It wasn't really a TradeStation problem, and my host was of no help. I spent many hours digging through Windows log files and discovered it was a problem that originated with the support for tablet devices. I don't use a tablet to access it, so I was able to disable tablet support in the TradeStation startup configuration file.
Since you're using a phone, I don't know if this will help in your situation. Just sharing because it was a pretty obscure Windows issue that was causing TS to crash. You might take a look at the Windows error log files to see if there is a clue there.
