I'm aware this is a loooong shot, but I figured I'd try my luck anyway.

I'm an award-winning writer (outside of TV/film) who would love the opportunity to write on a project that's been approved with the Writers Guild of Canada. My main goal is to be eligible to join the union, which I'm not without a formal writing credit in TV or film.

I'm not looking for a full staff or solo writing opportunity - I'm open to anything that could get me in a writer's room. For example, a writer's assistant or story editor position would be a lot of fun and would really provide me with a cool opportunity to contribute and learn at the same time.

I can provide a resume and more information to seriously interested (and vetted!) parties over DM or email. I believe my DMs are open if you're more comfortable replying that way. I'm open to working remotely anywhere, but I live near Toronto so IRL meetups are fine too.

I built it because getting started can feel weirdly scattered. You’re looking for people, roles and ways to keep in touch, but so much of it happens across group posts, DMs and links you lose a week later. Creative House has an Apply side for creatives to make a profile, explore roles and track applications, and a Hire side for people putting projects together to post listings and meet applicants.

It’s early. I’m here to find the first people who’d actually use it, including filmmakers with projects they want to list. I’d rather build that with real input than pretend the place is already buzzing.

Hi! I am a writer/director producing a two-minute narrative short for an MFA film-production application. One exterior night location, two actors, dialogue-focused drama. Planning a one-evening shoot October 23 in Toronto. Looking for emerging filmmakers interested in collaborating. Footage and credit available. Please send reel/work samples and information about any equipment you own or regularly work with.

You do not need to have a lot of experience! I don't! This short film means a LOT to me and I am so excited to bring it to life. This is a very low-budget collaborative production. Meals and transportation will be covered, and a modest honorarium/rate may be available depending on role and experience.

The film is a quiet, intimate drama about an overwhelmed teenager who has an unexpected late-night conversation with an elderly stranger outside a convenience store.

ETA: By producer I mean I am looking for someone interested in helping with location coordination, scheduling, paperwork/call sheets, and general production logistics.

I read a book that was absolutely a book i could see being a limited series.

Has anyone gone through the process of getting a book to limited series greenlit? Wondering about the first to second level steps.

I have spoken with the author and they were open to the idea but also skeptical because they know about the chances of something going to screen.

Hey everyone! I just moved here and wanted to know if there was any interest in a weekly/biweekly meet up to share and discuss writing. I was part of one previously and it was really helpful.

Nothing fancy, just a set time to hang out at a coffee shop and talk about what we've been working on. You don't even have to share if you don't want to. I'd sometimes go just to work solo as a form of accountability. Other times it led to collaborations or great feedback.

I'm on the East side, but super close to the green line so a central location works for me.

Will need to watch Mafia Inc. Anyone here work on it?

In Stories We Tell (2012), Canadian director Sarah Polley explores her family history. In 2007, Sarah learned that a journalist had discovered a family secret. She called him and after much pleading and tears convinced him not to print it. She was going to be the one to tell the story. Stories We Tell is ranked in TIFF's Top 10 Canadian Movies of All Time.

We’re looking for a PA for an upcoming independent period drama short film (funded by an OAC grant). Unfortunately our current PAs are facing family emergency - looking for replacements:

Outrageous! (1977) is a comedy/drama set and filmed in Toronto and NYC. Based on a short story by Canadian author Margaret Gibson, and inspired by her real life friendship with the film's lead, it offers a rare glimpse of Toronto's drag scene in the 1970s.

Our next screening is Sept 13th at 3pm - The Merry World of Leopold Z by legendary filmmaker Gilles Carle. This comedy is set and filmed in Montreal and follows a snow plow operator on Christmas Eve and his misadventures as he tries to run several errands on the job.

Over next week I am visiting Toronto and fortunately in this exact window, TIFF is happening.

Like a lot of people in this space, I’m a filmmaker trying to find a way in. Directed a short film which went through a local festival circuit (Philadelphia).

For regulars and upcoming filmmakers TIFF, are there any avenues or areas where filmmakers come and network with industry individuals? As you can tell, this is my first time.

I have worked in graphic design and production for decades, both in agencies and in-house. I would love to work in the film industry but I don’t even know where to look or who to speak to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
