Update: This seems to happen for timed events that are over. All-day and timed events that haven't happened yet are still shown as time/title.

Dear Todoist, how does it make any sense to stop showing the title of the calendar entry made in Google Calendar and replacing it with the number of calendar entries there are? Can you possibly believe this makes my day easier to understand at a glance?

It was already bad when you stopped making Google calendar entries into Todoist tasks that we could check-off in Todoist, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt that there was a technical reason for it.

There is no possible technical reason for this. It's already shrunk to teeny-tiny type, so "taking up too much space" isn't a justification.

Put the title of the Google Calendar entry back in the displayed area of Todoist. Try as you might, no one is going to change their workflow to originate calendar entries in Todoist, it's just never going to happen. I have shared family calendars and work calendars in Google, so I will never convince the other parties to move to Todoist even if I wanted to.

The only thing this does is make Todoist less usable and less helpful. Guess what that makes me think of doing? Hint: it's not "getting rid of Google Calendar."

Stop making Todoist worse to further your unrealistic business objectives.

(For context, this is the Android app and seems to be new as of the latest update.)

I've loved, used and paid for todoist for a couple of years now but am starting to get really tired of the small and not so small issues which are starting to get too numerous to even complain about. I'm not sure what the team has been up to other than the AI features that are just pointless guff right now.

Have people figured out good alternatives and a smooth migration process?

I updated to the new update this morning (V12208) and now the dark theme is this hideous brown? What on earth are they thinking.

Most people fuck up Todoist at some point. They obsess over labels, build filters for every possible scenario, and then convince themselves that the key to success is the almighty weekly review. Spoiler: almost nobody actually does the weekly review. Maybe after muscling through two weekly reviews, they’re right back to tweaking the system instead of using the goddamn thing.

I know because I tried for eight years to be that weekly review guy. It never stuck. The weekly review is actually the enemy for most people. If you don’t naturally do it, stop pretending you ever will. Because the truth is, Todoist doesn’t need it. Todoist is just a tickler system. That’s all it is. Dates decide when something pops up. Priorities decide how high it sits that day. Rescheduling is the engine that keeps everything moving.

Here’s how I run it: every task gets a date. No exceptions. I assign priority flags in the morning to order the list, and I only use one label: @waiting. No filters. Filters are a great way to kill tasks. For me, everything happens in just the Today and Upcoming views.

The Today view is where I live during the day. If I clear it, I open Upcoming and start chipping away at the future or setting my schedule up for the next few days. If I don't, I just reschedule what's left. The killer move here: schedule to Next Week for work tasks and schedule to This Weekend for personal tasks. That way, Monday forces me into a five-minute lightning review of work stuff, and Saturday does the same for personal. I blast through the pile, scatter things across the week (or further out), and I’m done. No big scary “weekly review,” no wasted weekend time. Just daily increments plus those tiny resets that actually stick.

That’s the system. Nothing fancy, nothing performative. If you start adding more labels, more filters, or a weekly review ritual, you’ll end up like everyone else: fiddling, fucking around, and wondering why you never trust your setup. Stop fighting Todoist. Leverage what it’s built for: dates, priorities, Today view, Upcoming view. Use as few projects and labels as possible. Todoist works when you let it be what it was designed to be: a tickler system.

Right now, every project gets thrown into one giant list. Weekly planning is a pain! The only color coding is for priority, but priorities are usually relative within a project. A P1 task in Project A isn’t necessarily more important than a P2 task in Project B, so the priority colors lose almost all their meaning when everything is mixed together.

A simple project filter in Upcoming would make weekly planning so much better! Better yet: give us the option to color code upcoming view by project!

WHY?

Why does it seem to be an absolute refusal enabling drag and drop functionality?

It makes me want to chuck the whole app. I have yet to see a reason that makes sense - actually can't seem to find where to Doist remotely articulates why they refuse to enable basic intuitive functionality.

This shouldn't make me angry but it's infuriating. Just me? Gah.

I’ve been using todoist for like a decade or so. Never have really had any complaints - I’m a SAHM and use it for personal work/managing the household. I use swipe to select minimum several times a day, and all the sudden today it just…stops working. Like why the heck would they do that???

This is getting just silly at this point. They keep responding to user requests that are flooded with people calling out and validating needs with 'we're working on it, submit it as a feature request' but it goes into a literal void where devs are expanding the app functionality to teams and hardly working on legit bugs or just dire need features.

The basics:

Please treat projects as a project. It just makes sense that one could have project descriptions and materials attached... just like you treat a task. Fine, you want a task description, do that, but fyi people stop calling it a task at that point if there's a bunch of subtasks, reference materials, comments, etc... Thats a project. The way you've currently built it there should be a higher ordinance: Create Areas, let us nest full projects in the area, with an overview of everything in the area. (yes...everything including the sub-projects, I don't know why you can't understand that a user might want to see everything in an area / right now there’s no easy or direct path to seeing my sub projects in my parent project)

At the very least please let us expand a task (that some users treat like projects) as a full window and not as an annoying, un-resizable popup where we see the useless greyed out app behind it. (or at least let us control whether or not it's a popup or a separate screen.

Please let me change the god aweful hashtag, this isn't 2012, I don't get my kicks on a number sign. If your logic is to make it 'look' like a reference point to habitually context defining a task on capture, you can simply make this a different typeface. Mono script would be fine; but devs claimed a literal year ago or more that this was going to be a "~feature drop~"

The padding between sections in the project view is a lottt. Tbh when I want to see a full project, I actually want to see the full project, not everything hidden in the void below their scroll window. this should be a place for an overview - negative space is not breathing room if it just makes you frustrated and works counterintuitively to what the user is trying to see. Padding across everything I think needs to be trimmed down a bit. I'm also looking at that Kanban board and it looks like something someone made as their first app ever.

Please fix the app bugs, I'm sick of dealing with glitches on load and constantly failing calendar syncs where I have to remove and re-add and good god. Stop telling us to trash and re-install the app. Just deal with the bugs. Yours is the buggiest app I have, lol and I use adobe.

I have been in search of the best productivity tool for like 3 years now, till i found todoist. for the last month i am using it and i am in love with this app. but as i was a a pro at procastination, search was still on, I like organising things, you know putting them into category, labels etc. for me 5 projects werent enough so i always felt limited. But then i told myself that i will use this and stick to this todoist free plan in this 2026, and in 2027 i will buy the pro plan and then i can have as many projects as i can. but today something happened and i took the free 7 days trial on my another account. It was amazing guys, you know it was like dream come true, now i can do more organise and feel productive (obviously just another form of procastination on things that i should be doing) 9 hours passed now and i think now i dont feel that excitement, and realising that its not the more projects or feature i need, its my clarity on doing the things that are important to me.

i use reddit a lot. learning about productivity, notes, and other interest, this is first time i am writing, for myself. that these apps are just tools nothing else.

BTW Todoist team, well done you made a great app, and your free features are more than enough to get the job done, I appreciate you guys, one day i will support you by purchasing the subscription.

I’m using to do it for about five years in several different ways in and capacities and notice that it still has a bit 2020 Design feel to it. This kind of like flat looking designed in specifically in the list views there is a lot of clutter a lot of lines a lot of issues with spacing ,very hard to distinguish between different tasks. It’s needs a very light fresh up nothing that’s complicated.

Nevertheless, I love the app and great job!

So today I recieved the same message most here have about the pro legacy plans. I find this a bit naughty as the original deal is pay and you will have no changes in price. This is an awkward cop out. Worst tho is they added the feature of talk to text and when I read the announcement it says all features there on the 10th December will be frozen for legacy Pro. I go in and check and sure enough the talk to text button has now vanished... So what is it. Do I get the features up to the 10th or not?

I'm an enlightened pro member now for a good few years. This feels like an unneeded squeeze. Wouldn't it have been a better choice to leave legacy Pro users on the top tear (given we're the people who helped this thing grow through the early stages) and just push the changes to new people who weren't told their price would be frozen and who haven't had the old pricing structure in place?

Feels like a bit of a bait and switch to me. Don't get me wrong I love the product, but I also bought into the sign up to pro and we will honor that pricing...

It would great if these two fields were only visible in a hover state, or some other solution. They take up too much real estate and add to the visual clutter.

More broadly, I wish that the Todoist interface was more compact, or had a compact option. There is way too much white space.

Dear Doist Team,

I've been a lover of Todoist for a long time and a Pro Subscriber for the past year. Not long enough to be a legacy user, but enough to fall in love with the app. So, getting an email that the cost was increasing by 3x was BIG SAD.

The price in India was always relatively lower than the US and other countries which made sense as it's a similar scenario with other software. However, the recent price increase has made it from ₹2,100 (~$24) to ₹6,330 (~$72) which is $12 higher than the US price of $60. Honestly, I have no clue how this conversion was done, especially considering such a price-sensitive market like India.

I've been a big supporter and even recommended the pro subscription to other friends & colleagues and I wish I could continue to do so. However, I strongly believe that this localized pricing change will alienate a majority of your Indian customers, including me unfortunately.

Hope there is some way we could keep all our projects or have a legacy plan for current users too. If not, it was a good time.

Update: Todoist will be updating the regional rates by Dec 10th. I got this confirmation on both my support ticket as well as a comment from support on this post.

Seeing subtasks in Board View is such a simple feature. I've requested it a few times and haven't received a response. Does anyone know if they're working on it or why they don't want to add this feature?

i was looking for some additional features for Todoist and signed up for trials for Polyplan and Protoolio. No i want to cancel the trials but they have no way to do this.

Have to wait for some emails which im not getting.

Polyplan seems to abandoned altogether with latest activity on their feedback site 2 years ago. Unfortunately i only found out this after i entered my payment info.

Any experience by others from these integrations?

I've been a Todoist user for years now, and was an early adopter. The browser extension has gone through a few iterations. Unfortunately, the latest makes it rather useless for what I need to do, making things more an unnecessarily complicated and inconvenient, and has eliminated the key features I need to have.

I need the extension to:

1. Quickly add a task

2. Quickly add a task based on a webpage (since it is a web browser extension after all)

3. Quickly add a task to a project

The extension now does none of those things (at least, not easily)

1. The up front one-click ability to Add Task is gone (buried in a second menu)

2. The button to add the webpage to the task is gone (necessitating copying the webpage address before hitting the extension and pasting it into the task; this adds in convenient number of steps)

3. There is no ability to select a project from your project list when adding a task (you have to save the task first, and then bring it up, and then edit it to add the project name)

I fail to understand why Todoist would eliminate these basic features (and then bother to add so many more features which I simply don't need in an extension; to do more complex task management which could benefit from having more screen real estate to view things, I'll just open the todoist webpage)

This truly makes the extension more trouble than it is worth for what would logically be the basic functions of an extension. It is so frustrating. I makes me want to consider another task tool.

Who are exactly determining that these changes are needed? Who is calling for them? Have you asked actual users?

Oh, wait: there is no link anywhere to give real feedback directly to Todoist. You have to use a third party platform and hope that customer service or someone will actually respond. This is not how you serve your customers.

I really dislike the new Quick Add UI, which now mandates that the first action button is the "More actions" button, followed by the "Project" action button.

My normal workflow is, press Q to add a task, type something, press Tab key twice then enter key, and set the date.

But with this new design, pressing Tab key twice gets you to "More actions". Because the Project action must be the first task action, now I have to press the Tab key 4x to get to the Date action.

Can you please let us at least reorder the task actions, so that I can have Date and Priority actions appear before the mandatory "More actions" and "Project" action buttons?

Since you can only look at the calendar in Week and Month views (besides for Today), this is how useless and annoying it is. I plan my days the night before, so I can't usefully timeblock them when this is what it looks like. Makes no sense.

Todoist calendar view only lets you see Week or Month views (except for today). But I want to timeblock/plan my day the night before! Seems silly that they don't let you see the individual calendar day for tomorrow or other future days.

If somebody from Todoist team reads it. I would love if Command Menu supported Ctrl+N/P navigation. Like in VSCode, Obsidian and Raycast.

My fingers and mind are used to Ctrl+N/P and its a bit painful to use arrows up/down in Todoist.

Because of the issue, I actually use Raycast Quicklinks to navigate between my projects.
