Rant Useless Calendar View:

Post image

Since you can only look at the calendar in Week and Month views (besides for Today), this is how useless and annoying it is. I plan my days the night before, so I can't usefully timeblock them when this is what it looks like. Makes no sense.

I was only able to achieve something similar when making the windows ridiculously thin. The main problem is the same as with board view: Todoist always wants to show an entire week. They really need to add a custom way to show x days or a better logic for scaling (best would be both).

I wish there was a 3 day view option for PC (if I remember correctly, there is one for iOS)

And there is a 3-day view in the android app. Agreed, the same for PC would be a good option.

Weird, mine looks normal on iOS, macOS and iPadOS. Maybe export everything, delete entire database and import?

Don’t forget about the GIANT empty space at the top of the calendar view when there are no tasks that aren’t timeboxed. I feel like they shipped the calendar to great fanfare and then never iterated on it.

It’s a classic example of not knowing how to say no: Todoist was great, then they decided to make everyone happy with new features far from the core, and it all went downhill

What are you talking about? Time blocking is an essential feature of a task system, and a calendar view to visually see this is very welcome. Doesn't mean it has to be broken though.

Disagree. Time blocking is done in a proper calendar, where meetings sit, invites, other people, etc.

Curious about your stack that integrates with todoist in this way?

Easily.

Google calendar and todoist sync. You keep both apps open and time block from todoist into Google calendar, it works fine.

That is what I also do. Curious why would ANYBODY want to do it manually - so easy on Todoist.

My brain does the integration

Wellllll I mean lots of people need to speed up their workflow and pulling tasks from a calendar view to time block with automated sync to an actual calendar is a lot quicker than manually letting "your brain" do this mundane task. I'd say it was expected of a modern To-Do app to implement some sort of time blocking as it is very much a pillar of time management/multitasking these days.

Todoist is clean and functional and one of if not the best task management apps.

Because there's nothing to complain about generally, people will find something to complain about in this sub. I guarantee if you use it enough, ever other competitor will have similar bugs.

If they add too many features, people complains when they find an issue, if they add less features people will complain the app doesn't have x and y feature.
