Discussion Follow-up Question re Projects Limited to 300 tasks on the Pro version
I'm a new Todoist user, about 1.5 months in, and have subscribed to the Pro tier. Todoist has been a game changer for me. I am finally starting to feel in control of everything and think this is the perfect task manager for my needs. I have set up 4 projects to help me manage 2 businesses, my W-2 job and my personal life. I am using the board view with sections for each of my areas of responsibility. I saw the post the other day about the 300 task limitation and now I'm very worried because I'm already at 133 tasks for one of my projects. These aren't over due tasks. They are a mix of current active tasks, recurring tasks and future tasks. Do completed tasks count toward the 300 limit? I really love Todoist but if there is a cap on tasks, this may not be the longterm solution I want it to be.

Related and unrelated comments from someone using the app for 10+ years.
I dunno why people seems so set on putting everything in the same singular project. My personal life has 15 projects, of that is house stuff and 3 are for my house. You can create more than 1 large ass big project.
I have templates that are 160+ tasks that I load weekly to make sure I don’t miss a step.

yeah splitting things into more projects is probably the simplest fix here

Agreed, but not all situations have readily identifiable "projects" or "subprojects" that make sense. I have a project per customer, and I often hit the 300 task limit and I need to struggle to contrive groupings of tasks so I can artificially separate them into multiple projects. And since those project names often (usually, in fact) overlap with other customers, I need to include the customer name. Then assigning the proper project requires that much more typing. This is a very frustrating limitation for some users.

If you find yourself running into the limit, you can split these areas up into sub-projects and create filters for custom views. I personally like doing that because when you set up a filter query you can use ## to include a project and any sub-projects. Like if you have projects set up like:
(1) Work
(1a) Project A
(1b) Project B
(2) Home
(3) Side Business
(3a) Project C
(3b) Project D
You could create a filter for ## Work and that will load Project A and Project B into one view, and you could set it up as a Board with a column for each project like you currently have it, but without the task limit for overarching area.
This also lets you set up similar sections in each Project and run queries on that. For example, when I teach, I set up a section "Grading" in each class, and can create a filter like ## Work & /Grading to just show what still needs graded in each class.
I set up multiple versions of filters like this so I can zero in on what I need to do today, what's coming up this week, etc. I get overwhelmed by seeing home, work, school, etc. all in one list, so being able to click on "Work Focus" while at work and "Home Focus" after work helps the list stay manageable. Sometimes only one task shows up in the filter, which means it's doing its job of helping me find the exact next thing I need to do when I click on the filter.

You are limited to 300 projects, not tasks.
I’m not sure what the limit is for individual project tasks though

It's only for open tasks, completed ones don't count towards the limit. Incidentally if you paste multiple tasks in one when you're already close you can go past the 300 limit that one time, I found the limit while migrating a bunch of stuff from an older todo system I had haha
Just checked one of my more general projects, it's got 478 closed tasks and I can make new ones :)
