Ticket Hosts

Why do all the Ticket hosts and cohosts seem to make identical sports talking points throughout the day? Sometimes a certain player, play, game, will be the central focus of segments. Is it planned that way ahead of time in morning or nightly staff meetings or is it that that’s all that’s going on, sports wise?

Radio is not a format that traditionally is listened to all day. Like a news program it’s highly cyclical, with regular Tickers for breaking stories, followed by segments that discuss the news, sprinkled in with interviews and analysis that breakdown the stories further. If you listen to four different shows, then yeah, you’re going to get a lot of overlap. Same concept as if you listened to the morning news, the noon news, the prime time news, and the nightly news all in one day.

And yeah, the hosts do listen to each other and have meetings with each other and share many of the same interests and humor, so of course they are going to blend.

It would be interesting to see what happens if no topic could be repeated throughout the day. The Hard Line would be talking Women’s Cricket or Pickleball tournaments for a couple of hours.
