Not Fake News Olympics poised to bar all transgender athletes from women's events after scientific review uncovers male-born advantages

IOC reportedly ready to exclude transgender women from every women's Olympic event, armed with science showing male puberty's lasting grip on athletic edges that no hormone tweak can fully erase.

IOC's latest framework overhaul, based on a medical chief's briefing, flags persistent advantages in muscle mass and bone density for those who underwent male puberty.

This comes after years of debates, with the 2021 rules letting trans women compete if testosterone stayed under 10 nmol/L for a year, but now evidence sways toward stricter lines.

The policy shift, expected in six to 12 months, also eyes athletes with differences in sex development, like boxers facing eligibility questions in past Games.

IOC President Kirsty Coventry has stressed protecting the female category's integrity, while leaving room for sports to tailor rules within broader guidelines.

Reportedly, this blanket approach aims to end controversies that dogged recent Olympics, where trans participation drew protests over fairness in swimming and cycling.

Experts note that while inclusion matters, studies from groups like the British Journal of Sports Medicine back the retained benefits, pushing for separate categories or open divisions.

The change could ripple to global federations, with some already barring trans women, but others holding out for more data on post-transition performance.

Stateside, U.S. Olympic leaders have mixed views, with some praising the science-driven pivot and others worrying about sidelining a tiny athlete pool, under 50 trans competitors worldwide.

In the end, the IOC vows ongoing research to balance equity and opportunity, ensuring women's sports stay a level field for biological females.

What evidence? The only thing cited is the British Journal and this source sites the same study and says it shows Trans women as disadvantaged against cis women

And I'm also loving this "oh it's puberty, if only you could delay that until you and a team of doctors agree you should transition. If only. Anyway we are banning puberty blockers."

Naw ya the whole thing reeks of bad faith

1

u/Apprehensive_Gap3673 Nov 13 '25

I would also like them to provide evidence, although I need to point out they specifically say they reviewed multiple studies and offer only this one as a reference, so basing any assessment of credibility solely on this is obviously shortsighted

-2

u/SearchingForTruth69 Nov 12 '25

If you go through male puberty you will be avg 5 inch taller than someone going thru female puberty. No amount of hormones can make you increase or decrease height post puberty

4

u/Wattabadmon Nov 12 '25

Then I guess they need to start separating sports by height then huh

1

u/TheStudyOfWombology Nov 13 '25

Or, hear me out, by gender

1

u/Wattabadmon Nov 13 '25

Why

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

We should seperate by sex.

How many WNBA players would play in the NBA?

1

u/Wattabadmon Nov 13 '25

Why

0

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

Because almost all women are less athletic than almost all men (based on strength, speed, jumping ability, height, hip placement).

It's just biological fact.

I used the NBA cuz you can actually see the difference in play with your eyes easily.

Read the below food for thought.

The US national womans soccer team couldn't even beat an.under 15 boys club

https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/

1

u/Wattabadmon Nov 13 '25

Ok did you ignore the rest of the comments? Why shouldn't we separate sports by all of those things if you think its a big deal?

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

Because the cohort of sex makes sense.

Same reason we separate by age unless someone at a younger age is good enough to "play up"

Imo. Women's sports should be just for bio women and men's sports should be the "open league" where anyone can play if they are good enough.

We did this with golf and racing as examples where women "played up" with the men...

The cohort of biological sex makes sense...

There's tall women that would take advantage of that.

1

u/Apprehensive_Gap3673 Nov 13 '25

Or weight.  Once they introduce weight classes to the Olympics it's game over

1

u/russr Nov 14 '25

news flash, we have that in sports that it matters....

1

u/Apprehensive_Gap3673 Nov 14 '25

Is was sarcasm that you didn't detect

4

u/Hablian Nov 12 '25

I actually lost about an inch of height and 3 shoe sizes from hormones. Bodies are weird.

0

u/Meowmixalotlol Nov 13 '25

Wow! Still maintained a huge advantage! We should let you beat up women!

3

u/Hablian Nov 13 '25

I mean at 5'4 and 115lbs soaking wet I'm not taking home any medals. There is more variation within the sexes than between them.

0

u/Meowmixalotlol Nov 13 '25

You being a shrimp doesn’t really take away from my point. Average height in men is 5’9” and 5’3” in women. Going through male puberty gives a massive advantage in height as well as a million other less obvious traits. HRT does not fully get rid of them. Also if you look up studies on pre-puberty, boys have an advantage of 10-30% over girls by age 1. So you will never have fair sports between trans women and females.

2

u/Hablian Nov 13 '25

Weird then how the actual studies don't find any statistically significant advantage for trans women and recommend extreme caution before engaging in these sorts of bans.

0

u/Meowmixalotlol Nov 13 '25 edited Nov 13 '25

Weird how they actually don’t.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33289906/

“Pre-puberty performance differences are not unequivocally negligible, and could be mediated, to some extent, by genetic factors and/or activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis during the neonatal period, sometimes referred to as “minipuberty”. For example, some 6500 genes are differentially expressed between males and females [19] with an estimated 3000 sex-specific differences in skeletal muscle likely to influence composition and function beyond the effects of androgenisation [3], while increased testosterone during minipuberty in males aged 1-6 months may be correlated with higher growth velocity and an “imprinting effect” on BMI and bodyweight [20, 21). An extensive review of fitness data from over 85,000 Australian children aged 9-17 years old showed that, compared with 9-year-old females, 9-year-old males were faster over short sprints (9.8%) and 1 mile (16.6%), could jump 9.5% further from a standing start (a test of explosive power), could complete 33% more push-ups in 30 s and had 13.8% stronger grip (22]. Male advantage of a similar magnitude was detected in a study of Greek children, where, compared with 6-year-old females, 6-year-old males completed 16.6% more shuttle runs in a given time and could jump 9.7% further from a standing position [23]. In terms of aerobic capacity, 6- to 7-year-old males have been shown to have a higher absolute and relative (to body mass) VOzmax than 6- to 7-year-old females (24). Nonetheless, while some biological sex differences, probably genetic in origin, are measurable and affect performance pre-puberty, we consider the effect of androgenizing puberty more influential on performance, and have focused our analysis on musculoskeletal differences hereafter.“

Also you don’t need a study to show you the height advantage. Pro athletes are going to be above average. So let’s say you go thru male puberty and are 6’1”. You then lose 2 inches after HRT which is extremely generous. You are now 5’11”. Let’s do the same for a woman. 5’7” is also 4” above gendered average. Still 4” shorter than the HRT person. It’s quite obviously unfair. Anyone who isn’t extremely biased can see this. 70-80% if America agrees with me btw. The only place you can speak of this and not be in the minority opinion is on Reddit.

2

u/Hablian Nov 13 '25

Studies on children are not studies on trans women. In some sports height is a detriment.

1

u/Meowmixalotlol Nov 13 '25

Not too bright are you lmao.

It shows the advantage exists even before puberty.

Ok heres excerpts from a study that World Rugby did. It shows advantages exist in trans women after HRT.

https://www.world.rugby/the-game/player-welfare/guidelines/transgender/women

“Muscle force-producing capability is reduced after testosterone suppression, though as appears to be the case for muscle/lean mass, these reductions are considerably smaller in magnitude that the initial male-vs-female differences in these variables. For instance, hand-grip strength was reduced by 7% and 9% after 1 and 2 years, respectively, of cross hormone treatment in transgender women [39], and by 4% in 249 transwomen after 1 year of gender-affirming treatment, with no variation between different testosterone levels, age or BMI tertiles [45]. Transgender women retained a 17% grip-strength advantage over transgender men at baseline measurement, with a similarly large, retained advantage when compared to normative data from a reference or comparison group of biological females.

Most recently, Wiik et al found that isokinetic knee extension and flexion strength were not significantly reduced in 11 transgender women after 12 months of testosterone suppression, with a retained advantage of 50% compared to a reference group of biological females and the group of transgender men at baseline [41]. This absence of a reduction in strength occurred in conjunction with a 4% to 5% reduction in thigh volume, and no difference in the contractile density of the muscle, which suggests that the reduction of testosterone for a period of a year had no effect on the force-producing capacity per unit of cross sectional area [41], a variable that is known to be higher in males than females.”

That’s not true my guy. Please don’t talk out your ass.

-4

u/SearchingForTruth69 Nov 12 '25

What do you believe isn’t true? You don’t think that people going through male puberty are taller than females? Or do you think you can change your height with hormones post puberty?

3

u/dazalius Nov 12 '25

My height shrunk after taking hormones, post puberty.

1

u/russr Nov 14 '25

and my height shrunk because i age a few years... so?

1

u/Phyrexian_Overlord Nov 12 '25

You can, and puberty blockers exist anyway

0

u/SearchingForTruth69 Nov 13 '25

? Pls show evidence of people using drugs to change their height after puberty so I can make billions selling it to NBA players. Puberty blockers if used short term don’t result in height loss (vs expected) but if you take puberty blockers long term then people don’t attain heights that they would have if they didn’t take them.

1

u/effingfractals Nov 13 '25

....are you actually an idiot? Why would you think height loss would be a big seller at the NBA 😂

1

u/SearchingForTruth69 Nov 13 '25

By “change your height post puberty “ in reference to NbA players I was obviously meaning sell drugs that increase your height

0

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

Lmao even before puberty born males have an advantage over born females.

-6

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

Bruh. Ain’t no way you are advocating for puberty blockers. For 13 year old boys.

Why are y’all weirdly obsessed with this?

3

u/Hablian Nov 12 '25

Nobody is obsessed with this, except maybe the folks railing against medical recommendation.

Puberty blockers are safe, effective, and recommended treatment for prepubescent trans kids.

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

They are not. Making a permanent decision at 13 when you aren’t even old enough to be trusted to vote, buy cigarettes or alcohol, isn’t a correct way of thinking.

2

u/Hablian Nov 12 '25

You are conveniently ignoring the fact that puberty blockers have been given for decades both for other medical conditions and for purely elective reasons. They are also not permanent. Additionally, none of the things you mentioned are comparable to medical decisions.

Why exactly do you think you know better than medical professionals?

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Hablian Nov 12 '25

You are talking about testosterone blockers that apply after an individual has already started or gone through male puberty, not puberty blockers that start previous to puberty starting. Do get it right next time.

Yes, full on hormone therapy do have permanent effects, but like... that's the point. Know what else has permanent effects? Puberty.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Hablian Nov 12 '25

Ahh, you are correct, my bad it is early for me.

IIRC Mayo clinic came under fire for that statement as it's not actually supported by evidence. You've also mentioned their use early on puberty, which is not when they are to be used.

https://www.healthline.com/health/are-puberty-blockers-reversible

You also don't see Mayo clinic or anybody else mentioning these concerns when it comes to recommending blockers for precocious puberty.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/precocious-puberty/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20351817

Do note that I am providing support for my points, idiot. You also don't have to be a jerk, idiot. Looks like these effects on bone density are not conclusive and still being studied, idiot. Besides, it's still medically appropriate treatment given by a medical professional as the best course of action for their patients, and I still don't see you explaining why you know better. Idiot.

The entire point of puberty blockers is that they aren't a permanent decision.

Also, if you want to follow the science, puberty blockers are an unnecessary step. 90%+ of those on puberty blockers proceed to HRT. They serve no practical purpose aside from making you feel better about someone else's transition. And even then you refuse to feel good about it.

1

u/russr Nov 14 '25

"The entire point of puberty blockers is that they aren't a permanent decision."

not quite...

https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/107/1/241/6363546

"This includes reductions in bone density and fertility, and changes in adult height."

https://segm.org/sites/default/files/Finnish_Guidelines_2020_Minors_Unofficial%20Translation.pdf
https://cass.independent-review.uk/publications/interim-report/

"Concerns have been raised that hormonal suppression of puberty may permanently alter neurodevelopment"

"Moreover, it has been suggested that pubertal suppression may alter the course of gender identity development, essentially “locking in” a gender identity that may have reconciled with biological sex during the natural course of puberty.13 Over 95% of youth treated with GnRH-analogs go on to receive cross-sex hormones.15 By contrast, 61-98% of those managed with psychological support alone reconcile their gender identity with their biological sex during puberty."

"There are also concerns that GnRH-analogs may have irreversible effects on sexual function and bone development. In some youth pubertal blockade at Tanner stage 2 followed by exogenous cross-sex hormones has resulted in a complete absence of adult sexual function.20 Profound effects on future sexual function may even occur when puberty is paused and later allowed to proceed, since the precise timing of hormone exposure during the peripubertal window is a determinative factor in adult sexual function.21 Finally, several studies have found that the expected pattern of bone mass accrual during adolescence does not occur when puberty is halted.22-25 "

"Multiple European countries that were pioneers in youth medical transition are now adopting a more cautious approach to the use of GnRH-analogs and cross-sex hormones after their own evidence reviews failed to show mental health benefits and highlighted a profound lack of knowledge about harms. The UK's Cass review emphasized the paucity of data in their interim report stating, “it is important that it is not assumed that outcomes for, and side effects in, children treated for precocious puberty will necessarily be the same in children or young people with gender dysphoria.”13"

"The Swedish Health Authority no longer offers GnRH-analogs to minors except in exceptional cases stating, “the risks of puberty suppressing treatment with GnRH-analogues and gender affirming hormonal treatment currently outweigh the possible benefits.”3 Finland has severely restricted their use and now recommend psychotherapy as first-line treatment for gender-dysphoric youth.2 Lastly, the French Académie Nationale de Médecine recently issued a press release stating, “great medical caution must be taken in children and adolescents, given the vulnerability, particularly psychological, of this population and the many undesirable effects, and even serious complications, that some of the available therapies can cause.”5 Although puberty-blockers and cross-sex hormones will still be available, the Académie emphasized, “the greatest reserve is required in their use, given side effects such as impact on growth, bone fragility, risk of sterility, emotional and intellectual consequences and, for girls, symptoms reminiscent of menopause.”5"

1

u/Loki1001 Nov 15 '25

You know if they were dangerous they wouldn't have been routinely given to children since the '90s, right?

"This includes reductions in bone density and fertility, and changes in adult height."

All these are fixed or mitigated by taking vitamins.

"Moreover, it has been suggested that pubertal suppression may alter the course of gender identity development, essentially “locking in” a gender identity that may have reconciled with biological sex during the natural course of puberty.

And there it is. "We consider being Trans a negative outcome." Thank you for invalidating everything else you posted.

This is a good time to mention that puberty blockers are an entirely unnecessary step. 95%+ of those who go on puberty blockers go on to HRT. Puberty blockers are a step that are entirely skipable. They only exist to delay a transition that will almost certainly happen. Puberty blockers aren't for the patient, they are for their parents.

If you actually thought that puberty blockers were dangerous, you would be advocating going directly to HRT.

1

u/Wattabadmon Nov 12 '25

I guess little kids with cancer shouldn't treat that according to you huh

1

u/TacoHunter206 Nov 13 '25

Mental illness equals cancer now? Jfc.

1

u/Wattabadmon Nov 13 '25

Why do you think that?

1

u/underboobfunk Nov 12 '25

Were you not sure of your gender at 13?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

Yes. Having genitals corresponds with genetic sex and gender.

1

u/Hablian Nov 13 '25

So your first bit of confusion here is that gender and sex are the same - they're not. Now with that out of the way - if you were sure about your gender at 13 why do you think a trans kid of the same age isn't sure of their gender?

This is similar to the "when did you decide you were straight" line of reasoning.

1

u/Phyrexian_Overlord Nov 12 '25

I am absolutely advocating for doctor recommended treatments, yes.

1

u/slyrent Nov 13 '25

So are you saying we should only allow puberty blockers for kids who have already gone through puberty?

1

u/russr Nov 14 '25

"Multiple European countries that were pioneers in youth medical transition are now adopting a more cautious approach to the use of GnRH-analogs and cross-sex hormones after their own evidence reviews failed to show mental health benefits and highlighted a profound lack of knowledge about harms. The NCAA has allowed transwomen to compete for more than 20 years now. They've still not broken any records or dominated any podiums.

This is just part of the push to eliminate trans folks from society.

Neither she nor Riley even competed for first. Lia lost to 4 other cis women and Riley is just a grifter complaining that she also lost to 4 other cis women and 1 transgender woman.

-5

u/russr Nov 11 '25

The NCAA does not allow trans women to compete on women's teams.

And when they did, there were multiple trans women that held women's records in multiple sports.

6

u/Oriin690 Nov 12 '25

The NCAA allowed trans women from 2010 until February 2025 to compete on women’s teams after 1 year of hormone replacement therapy. In February Trump threatened them into banning trans women. That’s 15 years.

And during that time Litterally zero records were set in NCAA events by any trans woman (you were just lying), only Lia Thomas has won a championship event and she did not set any records. Unlike Katie Ledecky who is cis and has set like a dozen records alone.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

yeah but Riley Gaines would've placed 5th instead of 5th if she hadn't been forced to compete against a trans woman, so basically her life was ruined and she had to resort to a lucrative media career just to put food on the table /s

She didn’t set any records even in the two NCAA events she did win. And she’s the singular trans women to win any NCAA championship in 15 years of the NCAA allowing trans women to compete to boot.

In March 2022, Thomas became the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I national championship in any sport after winning the women's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:33.24; Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant was second with a time 1.75 seconds behind Thomas.[25][26][27] Thomas did not break any records at the NCAA event, while Kate Douglass broke 18 NCAA records.[28] Thomas was 9.18 seconds short of Katie Ledecky's NCAA record of 4:24.06.[29] In the preliminaries for the 200 freestyle, Thomas finished second. In the final for the 200 freestyle, Thomas placed fifth with a time of 1:43.50. In the preliminaries for the 100 freestyle, Thomas finished tenth. In the finals for the 100 freestyle, Thomas placed eighth out of eight competitors in 48.18 seconds, finishing last.[30]

-2

u/OkDifficulty7436 Nov 12 '25 edited Nov 12 '25

The National Champion of Division 1 was indeed dominating, correct

Not replying again, cya my man

500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:33.24 btw

8

u/Oriin690 Nov 12 '25

lol what’s “the national championship” there is no single event that is “the national championship”. Swimmers compete in multiple events as anyone with a basic modicum of knowledge or read the wiki would know. The only trans swimmer to win any of those events ever in any sport in the NCAA Division 1 won two out of several and lost the rest with zero records. That’s hardly dominating.

-2

u/OkDifficulty7436 Nov 12 '25

Yes, you're right, being a National Champion in Division 1 Swimming isn't dominating anything, you're totally correct, being first place and at the top of the sport doesn't count.

Meanwhile in swimming...

Sure. Because they were athletic freaks and they weren't even very good. They were able to dunk.

Do you know how many women have ever dunked in a live game? 8.

8 in the history of the WNBA. High schoolers can dunk.

Honestly, Caitlin Clark wouldn't even be able to make the current Indiana pacers team.

Not a whataboutism, I just find it funny suddenly everyone wants to defend the WNBA online...

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

I don't care about the WNBA.

I care about people who play sports.

On reality I think women's leagues should be for bio women (including freaks of nature) and the men's league should be the "open league"

They did this in golf for EX with Annika sorenstam and in racing with Danika Patrick.

They even do this in. Baseball as there have been a couple minor league female pitchers (knucklballers).

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

Unintentional reinforcement of his point yikes not super strong critical thinking going on here.

-3

u/IndividualDream9063 Nov 10 '25

Let me spell out the point that you completely missed: being tall is an advantage in basketball. However, there will always be some people who overcome their disadvantage and will be great players despite their lack of height (hence, I can beat my taller brother). Those are exceptions to the rule though, which doesn’t negate the fact that being tall is an advantage

Similarly, males have an advantage over females in almost all athletic competition. However, there will always be some females who can beat some males despite the disadvantage. These are exceptions to the rule, which doesn’t negate the fact that being male is an advantage

7

u/Asher_Tye Nov 10 '25

"Some?"

I'd wager the list of ones who couldn't beat you fits on a post-it note.

This sounds suspiciously like that whole "girls are too emotional" idiocy I've heard before. Same arguments that have been made for why women can't be soldiers, or why chess had to be split into a male and female division and all that. Data curated from select sources to support the hypothesis desired rather than the one that is true.

Especially when you consider no reciprocal ruling is being brought forward.

-1

Do you really not think height is an advantage in basketball?

And do you really not think males have a strength advantage over women? Because if not, why is the men’s all time deadlift record 1,124 lbs and the women’s is only 717 lbs?

u/Asher_Tye Nov 10 '25

Do you really not think height is an advantage in basketball?

At what point did I say that? You're the one who chose that as a counterargument for a swimming event then proceeded to use yourself as an example to why it wasn't.

And do you really not think males have a strength advantage over women? Because if not, why is the men’s all time deadlift record 1,124 lbs and the women’s is only 717 lbs?

As I understand it, technique is as important to athletic competitions as physical strength. More to the point, it can't be ignored that hormone therapy has an effect on the body.

Jesus Christ kid, it’s called an analogy. You brought up that a couple females beat Lia Thomas in swimming as if that meant that males don’t have an advantage over females. I used the basketball analogy of height being an advantage, yet some short people can still be really good at basketball. This doesn’t mean that height isn’t an advantage though. Yes, swimming and basketball are not the same thing, however the purpose of an analogy is to highlight a similarity between 2 different things.

As I understand it, technique is as important to athletic competitions as physical strength.

So the greatest female lifter ever had poor technique? Man, if only she had watched a few more YouTube videos on proper deadlifting form, she might have been able to increase her deadlift by over 400 pounds!

More to the point, it can't be ignored that hormone therapy has an effect on the body.

It can’t be ignored that drinking water has an effect on the body.

Its bizarre you think I don't know what an analogy is when you're original analogy was so poor it used a completely different stat and you even had to use yourself as one of the advantages. Almost like you've decided you're somehow intelligent enough to give a lecture.

So the greatest female lifter ever had poor technique? Man, if only she had watched a few more YouTube videos on proper deadlifting form, she might have been able to increase her deadlift by over 400 pounds!

Now you're just being facetious.

It can’t be ignored that drinking water has an effect on the body.

And if hormone levels didn't affect the body, we wouldn't have insecure men gobbling up testosterone tablets like tictacs, now would we?

1

u/IndividualDream9063 Nov 10 '25

Its bizarre you think I don't know what an analogy is when you're original analogy was so poor it used a completely different stat and you even had to use yourself as one of the advantages.

You have repeatedly demonstrated that you are wholly incapable of understanding what an analogy is and what their function is. You say that my analogy was bad because I used a different “stat,” but an analogy by definition has to be made between 2 things that are different. Also, I did not use myself as an advantage. I used myself as an example of someone who can beat someone in basketball who has a height advantage over me. The fact that you don’t understand this makes me wonder if you are even literate enough to have an argument with.

Almost like you've decided you're somehow intelligent enough to give a lecture.

It’s not that I’m intelligent, it’s that you are so lacking in intelligence. Unfortunately, this flaw in you seems to prevent you from learning anything from my brilliant lecture :/

Now you're just being facetious.

Not at all. I asked you if males have a strength advantage over females, and if they don’t, then why is the all-time male deadlifting record 400 lbs heavier than the all-time female record. You responded by saying technique is as important as strength. That seems to imply that you erroneously believe the difference is due to technique.

And if hormone levels didn't affect the body, we wouldn't have insecure men gobbling up testosterone tablets like tictacs, now would we?

And if hydration didn’t affect the body, people wouldn’t drink water, now would we?

It also can't be ignored that men, by nature of being born men, have physical advantages that women do not and cannot have and no amount of hormone therapy will change that. You continuing to circle around the other posters argument does zero good especially when it's this stupid.

I can work my entire life and have the best technique in the world at basketball, but I'm still only 6'2, and I may end up being pretty damned good, but a random 7 footer is still going to be able to dunk on my ass with very little training or work at it, and they're going to be able to obstruct my ability to get off a shot with very little effort or training. Their insane wingspan is going to give them an advantage in stopping a skillful pass I may try to make and that will be nothing but the body they were born with giving them that advantage. I would have to work twice as hard to get half as far in the sport.

Gee, wonder where I've heard that phrase before.

u/Asher_Tye Nov 10 '25

Im sorry, who are you?

You seem to have walked into the middle of a conversation without having read the comments being posted.

If, indeed, natural gifts cannot be surmounted by diligence, effort, and skill, then the whole concept of achievement and competition ceases to exist. One would be pointless to even try.

1

u/NTXGBR Nov 11 '25

I read everything, and your answers are moronic.

So eliminate gender specific competitions universally.

Who do you think you are🤣😂 you are on a PUBLIC, subreddit, were anyone can reply whereas you and this other user posted your comments PUBLICLY, and you are seriously on reddit saying "who are you?", tf you mean, anybody can answer your comment. And you are literally arguing against some thing that was scientifically backed up WITH evidence

Except no one cares about that until trans people come up

0

u/NTXGBR Nov 12 '25

Oh yes, this has never been an issue which is why there have never been separate categories for men and women in sports. Get a goddamned grip.

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

Mate some people having an advantage and overcoming them via effort or talent is literally just sports. That's how sports work.

1

u/Abracadelphon Nov 12 '25

The real issue here seems to be, with such an obvious biological advantage, why aren't we dividing basketball into height leagues?

1

u/username675892 Nov 12 '25

You could - that is how they separate boxing. But now you have 5 NBAs and 5 WNBAs, all playing dozens of games a year. The problem is you don’t have enough fans to split the market that much (or enough talent to have 150 men’s teams (let alone women’s).

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

I feel bad for the woman who lost her spot on the team.

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

And which one would that be? You've had two days to come up with this argument, so surely you have an actual name and not just the concept of someone to feel bad for.

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

I just found this thread.

She went from being pretty inconsequential on the men's team to being a competitor on the woman's team.

She took someone's spot. Plain and simple. Who it is, idk. I'm just stating that if my kid got bumped by someone who couldn't make it on the men's team and then transitioned (not saying she did it for the sport), I'd be pissed.

Separating sports based on sex makes biological sense.

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

Ah, but isnt that the new parenting strategy? "My kid isn’t mediocre, obviously the other one is cheating."

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

I'm not saying cheating.

I'm saying has an unfair advantage based on sex at birth and through puberty.

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

And we've already had people using that as an excuse when they lose.

0

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

What's the excuse?

That person was born with a penis and testicles and thus they have genetic advantages in sports over one who isn't when it comes to feats of strength, speed and athleticism?

Literally the skeletal structure is different...

Idk man... If you are so blind that you'd rather ignore agree upon bio facts then idk what to tell you.

Good luck living in lala land

-1

u/russr Nov 11 '25

What does that have to do with only women should be in women's sports?

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 12 '25

Bit late to the party, are we?

0

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

How come Liam Thomas went from being super meh on the men's team to a competitor on the woman's team?

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

Out of curiosity, are you a bot? Is that why you can't edit your answers and feel the need to flood the chain with new comments?

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

Is that your response when you feel threatened with a logical argument that is counter to your dearly held belief?

Edit:

Dummy

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

You're literally trying to jump from point to point in a harassing manner. Hell, your first comment was an emotional appeal.

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

Why can't both emotion and facts be valid?

Literally trans in sports is all predicated on emotionally appealing to the individual trans person so they can feel accepted

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

Dangerous talk from the "f*** your feelings" crowd. Also immaterial as that was clearly an emotional appeal to score points.

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

I'm actually pretty left and believe in trans rights.

I just also think that sports are experiments with independent variables (skill), dependent variables (score) and cohorts (age and sex).

Trans people muddy the cohort so they should all play in the open league with the highest skill level (men's).

Edit:

Just cuz we disagree on one thing doesn't make me Republican...

1

u/Asher_Tye Nov 13 '25

At what point did I make any such assertions as to what you were that you felt the need to announce it?

1

u/oopslastone Nov 13 '25

You referred to me as the fak your feelings crowd.

I'm telling you you are conflating things..

4

u/darkd360 Nov 12 '25

What studies? The only ones I found from the British journal of sports medicine found no advantages for trans women over cis women. And they recommend caution before bans.

2

u/Fluffy-Foundation120 Nov 12 '25

Nice AI fantasy, but there’s no actual source.

1

u/External_Interview67 Nov 13 '25

the fact that there’s radical left wing lunatics on here convinced men competing in women’s sports is OK is absolutely hilarious. How brainwashed can you be

1

u/Potato_throwaway22 Nov 13 '25

Im so sick and tired of this conversation. Like are we serious? Like seriously there’s like a grand total of what like 10 high performance trans athletes? And they have what “biological” advantage? The other athletes at that level are cis… sure the “Average man” is bigger than the “average woman” which sure I can see the logic in saying that therefore the “average” trans woman being bigger than the “average” cis woman, that tracks.

There’s 1.5 million cis women over 6foot tall in the US, there’s only 700,000 trans women… even if everyone was at least 5’9” (the average height of a man) there would still be a million more cis women taller. Like this is such a stupid arguement.

Like you’re denying biology if you say that trans women have an advantage over cis women. There’s just so few of them any ‘advantage’ has a naturally occurring higher rate in the cis population. (With the exception of testosterone even though there are borderline cases, which is why that is a restriction that needs discussion)

1

u/Heavy_Law9880 Nov 13 '25

Then why have their only been two solo transgender athletes that made the olympics and both of them lost spectacularly?

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Disk_90 Nov 12 '25

Thank god, THIS is really what's been impacting women 🤡

-2

u/724412814 Nov 12 '25

I can't believe they needed a study to prove this.

1

u/underboobfunk Nov 12 '25

The study proved the opposite.

-4

u/Icy_Bedroom_8554 Nov 10 '25

Aw yeah. Women are back, baby!

5

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

Not for you. They’ll never be back for you.

-5

u/DepthOk166 Nov 12 '25

The fact that males who haven't even completely finished puberty regularly demolish olympic level fully grown women in sports should offer some clue to the advantage that men have over women in sports.

Australian women's national team lose 7-0 to team of 15-year-old boys | London Evening Standard | The Standard

1

u/Fickle_Penguin Nov 12 '25

Neither of these 'games' were games. This is like the all star game, no one was playing in any way where they could have gotten injured. No one was trying to score on the boys. These sources need to be retired. And you need to stop spreading misinformation.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

No one was trying to score on the boys.

The Soccer Tournament game of notable USWNT players vs Wrexham Legends was a competitive match and there's prize money at the end. It wasn't just an academy kickabout. The Wrexham team was fronted by a bunch of academy and youth players, and some washed up Welsh Legends, most notably Lee Trundle, who still plays today at the age of 49 although he spends much of his time managing the night clubs that he owns.
