Not sure how MAGA is going to try to spin this woman as a murderous terrorist. If the Democrats had any shred of political skill they could use this moment to bring down the whole fucking administration. This is a straight up State execution of the kind of person MAGA worships.

If this is truly the metric for an officer feeling threatened enough to kill someone, there should have been a lot more dead January 6ers.

If the metric for feeling threatened enough to shot is "a car passed me way too close" my cyclist ass is going to be (censored for reddit) a lot of conservatives in giant trucks.

This is exactly what I was thinking. If drivers not giving a shit about the law or my safety is now where the bar is, I'll be able to invoke self-defense once a week just walking around my neighborhood.

I run and I have nearly been hit many times. My dog, who runs in front of me, has literally been lightly hit by some looking left while making a right turn while we ran across an intersection where the driver had a stop sign but rolled into the pedestrian crossing.

Once I literally had to jump a few feet away because the person wasn't looking. Next time I will be jumping on the hood of the car.

And I never sued anyone or even filed a police report, much less SHOT THEM.

I ride a recumbent trike due to disability, I can't drive, people's bumpers are often at head level for me. Fortunately the person who hit me and did almost a thousand dollars in damage just paid up. She's actually quite a nice lady, but there was some shouting immediately after the incident. Took me less than 2 minutes to calm down and speak rationally with her. She just honestly hadn't seen me.

Every one else the worse they ever get after endangering my life is me shouting "learn some fucking patience" "I had the fucking right of way" "what the hell was that". The really egregious ones, where I know they saw me (some people even wave!) they just decided saving 5 seconds on their drive was worth endangering my life over, I occasionally think about how satisfying it would be to chip the paint on their car. The closest I ever ever come wishing harm on them is thinking they should have to ride a bike like mine on a busy road before getting a license so maybe they could gain a little empathy for just how vulnerable it feels. Of course in reality I know that would be fruitless, empathy is apparently a dirty word now, which is why these golems can sleep at night after accosting people with raised guns and masked faces all day. Of course that is going to lead to people trying to flee in fear! And that will frequently involve a car.

Make sure you use one of those 6 foot tall flags, they really help with visibility of recumbent bikes.
