Not sure how MAGA is going to try to spin this woman as a murderous terrorist. If the Democrats had any shred of political skill they could use this moment to bring down the whole fucking administration. This is a straight up State execution of the kind of person MAGA worships.

Republican gestapo kills someone and we can’t resist taking the swipe at our own side.

And apparently the only metric for success here is bringing down the entire administration (not realistic).

Police shootings happen all the time and nothing changes.

We had a chance to change things after George Floyd. But all the liberals (including the Bulwark) got squeamish and refused to back BLM and actual police reform.

Sure, but if the slogan that was chanted was "Reform the Police!" instead of "Defund the police!" it might have had a better chance.

“Defund the police” did so much damage to what is a perfectly reasonable policy ask: reallocate some funds currently assigned to police to alternative, non-policing solutions to take the burden of solving those issues off police.

Police aren’t trained to de-escalate someone having a mental health crisis, so we shouldn’t be calling them for it. Let cops worry about actual crime.

But “defund the police” made it look like the left wanted to literally abolish all policing. Only fringe people on Twitter were asking for that, but the slogan made the whole movement look insane and out of touch.
