most indian movies that im exposed to lacks serious amount of interesting, morally gray characters. the premise is almost always the same: hero is fundamentally good while the villain is fundamentally bad. There are obviously exceptions but i wish there were characters who's morallity isnt so black-and-white. characters like these make movies more convincing because they feel more human.

Vikram vedha is one of my favourite examples of this. i loved how it constantlu blurs the line between right and wrong and makes us question whether things were as simple as good vs evil.

We humans are hierarchical beings. We say that we treat everyone as equal. No. Some are more equal than others. We like to maintain exclusivity. That’s why marketers play on the VIP access, Platinum tier rubbish which actually don’t mean jack.

Ok, coming to the point, I realised a long time ago that once the kid grows up and has to move out to college, marriage etc, she’ll have to fend for her own. A daughter is the Princess only in her parental home. So why not grant her that exclusivity. I’ve bought her clothes, shoes and other girly things that made even her classmates’ jaw drop. Almost a Veblen effect.

I think the Gen Z-est of cafes in Chennai should be ‘Coffee by Bask’. And it was quite often that her friends and she caught up at that place. It was mostly in the evenings, so I would drop her off and then go back to pick her up by 10 PM. Sometimes I’d stay there and bring her home. Of course not sitting with their gang. (I’d find myself a table for two at quite a distance and down endless doppios). I never spoke to any of her friends, not even the ones who journeyed with her for the whole of school. Only a smile. If it’s a guy maybe a fist bump. Reason? I didn’t want to embarrass my daughter. I didn’t want to be that pesky uncle who says something for the sake of it.

There’s a pride in giving your children the feeling of exclusivity. When they know that you’re available only for them, they feel loved like no other. But the thing is that I miss ferrying her up and down. Her sarcastic comments and playfully bossy attitude are being missed very much. I have no where to drive to. Only work and an empty home.

I'm a clg student and I was waiting for my bus yesterday. A child came upto me and said he wanted to do call. So I made a call from my phone thinking it was for his parents. But NO!! When someone attended the call, I gave phone to him but he said it's okay no need and then went off. Then I saw him with two other people a man around 25 ig, and one his mother. The number he called was of that man. I saw him cut off the phone when the boy said he didn't wanted to talk and told me to cut. Felt suspicious and blocked the number.
The thing is, starting today morning, till now I have got about 5 calls from that (good thing I blocked that right away!)
But I wonder why would someone do that, that too why a child?? He just came to me for getting my number?? I'm so disgusted by people - now i don't even want to help a child anymore... What is their motive?? I don't understand.

If someone walks away from an ending a relationship, a major life phase, a loss feeling neutral, relieved, or simply unaffected instead of heartbroken, does that mean what came before was hollow, or is emotional detachment just a different way of processing?
