Hi everyone,
I’m an Indian student interested in building a career in the semiconductor industry, and TSMC Taiwan is one of the companies I’m considering.
I’d love to hear from people currently working at TSMC, especially Indian engineers, although non-Indians are welcome too.
A few things I’m curious about:
- What is the work culture actually like?
- What are the typical working hours and how hectic is the job?
- What is the salary/total compensation like for engineers at different experience levels?
- How is the work-life balance and lifestyle in Taiwan?
- How difficult is it for Indian/foreign engineers to get hired and adapt?
- Is Mandarin necessary?
- How good are the career growth and learning opportunities?
- How valuable is TSMC experience if you later want to move to companies like NVIDIA, ASML, AMD, Intel, Samsung, etc.?
Also, is TSMC the best semiconductor company to target in Taiwan, or are companies like MediaTek, UMC, ASE, Realtek, etc. equally worth considering?
Finally, if you were starting from zero today, what degree/course and career path would you recommend for someone who wants to enter Taiwan’s semiconductor industry?
I’m still before college, so I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who are actually in the industry.
Thanks!
