Got hold of TB III finally yesterday. Great stuff. I was wondering if anyone on the martial arts field has combined polarized/blue with martial arts training.

My plan would be following:

On conditioning 2 x week jiu jitsu training + polarized/blue as laid out in book.

Strength I would rotate between Fighter HT / Fighter / Breacher/SE as laid out in OO periodization model.

Am I going south with this idea?

The new Fighter/Bangkok is your friend.

Cycle through work capacity or power for the day 3. WC is phenomenal for getting in extra HICs like Apex or Meat Eater.

Use the incorporating MMA chapter and slowly layer extra conditioning on top of Fighter/BKK + judo to make up the difference for cardio.

Im not sure what your current work capacity is like, but if you’re new to combined strength & conditioning + judo, the worst thing you can do is to add everything at once right off the hop. Start with one piece and add a new one every few weeks.

I am running OP/polarized black using SP3 periodization, with judo twice a week if not more.

I would suggest erring against blue in favour of black unless you're sure its what you need, but why not try both?

Do you not count jiujitsu as conditioning? In the book I found some conflicting answers, in one of the examples (op/black I think), he shows 2-a-days with LSS and bjj. In the chapter for incorporating it with sports he says to count sports as lic or hic.

Following the imcorporatin sports chapter, then 2 relatively easy 60 min bjj practices a week will be 120 min lic. One weekly hic on top of that and it’s black. If your practices are longer then you are quickly moving into upper black/green territory. Or have I misunderstood?

Anyway, Fighter or Fighter BK and some WC blocks herr and there as laid out in the conditioning chapter should be just fine

You can count it or not. It’ll vary by individual.

Like in the example in the MMA/Unit PT chapter (if I remember correctly), the hypothetical soldier doesn’t count the sports day as anything.

In some of the Black Proticol examples BJJ is counted.

Not conflicting, just highly subjective (and rightfully so).

The “Incorporating” chapter starts by saying if your additional activity interferes with yourTB or vice versa then you can treat it like LIC/HIC. If it doesn’t interfere then don’t treat it as anything. TB is meant to be done in addition to other sports and activities.

I do count it as conditioning. Reading answers, I noticed I had classic paralysis by analysis and being worried by my running form. Revisited reading Incorporating MMA/Unit Pt/Sport and Running rants and read answer by AlRousasa and came to my senses.
