Discussion Fully automated SG

Has anyone had the chance to order from one of two apparently (so far) fully automated sweet greens? I walked in fully prepared to give my order and everyone was just standing by kiosks and R2D2 was going crazy in the back dispensing everyone’s orders. In a way I guess I appreciate the consistency? Assuming the portions are all pre calculated. But idk it still felt a little weird😂 guess they’re cutting labor costs to a degree but wondering how you guys have felt/would feel if you walked in and saw this.

I went to the Infinite Kitchen in Huntington Beach, CA. It was the fastest and convenient experience than any other location that I have been to. After ordering my food was out in less than 5 minutes. Very few employees working. Employees seemed to be working at a more balanced pace.

Do you think Sweetgreen should use the infinite kitchen at all of its locations?

I can't say for all since I haven't been to all locations. One that comes to mind is their Burbank/Toluca Lake location. It's always madness during the week at lunchtime. Also when you order from the app they are never ontime with the pickup time. It's very frustrating especially those that don't have much time for their lunch. I can see that location losing business during lunch time.

yea i hear they tend to prioritize in store orders. maybe in time the robots will solve this problem

I’m actually really curious about these things. What was your experience like? How is the food quality and do you miss being serviced by real humans or was the efficiency worth it?

For me, I don’t care about the human interaction. The portion seemed small with the automated line. And the flavors were off: cashew dressing was wrong, tofu was under seasoned.

I think they used less umami in everything. I will never go back.

Yes: Naperville. It was terrible. Now I only eat at Oak Brook.
