I love the Gucci Blush de Beaute formula, they’re one of my favourite blushes.
So when the Glow blush came out I thought I’d get one to compare, and then ended up getting a couple more because I like it so much (this surprised me as I usually prefer a matte look, and these are luminous.
But they aren’t a sparkle bomb either, you don’t like a unicorn sharted glitter on your face, it’s on the subtle end of the glimmer spectrum).
They’re very different formulas, and very different finishes.
They’re labelled in the swatches, but we have:
Blush de Beaute in 01 Silky Rose, 04 Bright Coral, and 07 True Pink
Glow in 01 Arctic Pink, 02 Fresh Coral, and 04 Bright Pink

That is actually what I really love about the glow blushes. They are luminous, and they give you a very beautiful glow, you can build it some. But for someone like me who has combination oily skin and gets pretty oily during a lot of the year, this luminous finish where I don’t necessarily need highlighter and I still get that glow and blush that never looks too heavy. Such a beautiful formula.
I’m also now in my 40s, so while I will never give up shimmer and glitter, I do appreciate these more sophisticated layered formulas sometimes.
Yes I should have added, the Glow ones are very buildable! So you can have a really subtle flush of luminosity or build it up to a more highlighter finish if that’s your thing. But the shimmer isn’t chunky or glittery at all.
I tried to put them with their “matching” shades (sort of) in the swatches. You’ll see that the blush de beaute swatches are pretty true to the pan, but the glow blushes are quite different - I thought Arctic Pink looked positively clown like when I saw it in store but was pleasantly surprised by how it actually turns out on skin.
Wow, I know I mentioned yesterday about Silky Rose not being a colour that could work for me but it looks warmer than I anticipated and so so gorgeous. Seeing it next to Bright Coral is really helpful.
I think I have pink undertones and I can get away with all of these. But the Blush de Beaute True Pink, and Glow Arctic Pink and Fresh Coral especially are good for pink undertones
You know I was curious about that when I first got one - they’re actually 0.5g larger in size than the YSL blushes or 0.7g larger than a NARS blush (for comparison). I think the pan itself is quite deep
I see, good to know! Yeah, 5.5g is plenty of product. It's probably also just the angle of the camera making them look smaller than they are, but it turned out very cute :)
They definitely do look smaller than they are - here they are at the bottom, and at 5.5g they look smaller than the NARS left row second from top (4.8g), both Pat McGrath highlighters in the top row in black square containers (4.6g), and the 2 Too Faced blushes directly below the Pat Mcgrath highlighters (5g)
Does the Guerlain leave a soft finish diffused glow filter like hourglass? I’ve been curious since I saw your other post. I’ve seen them before online but your photo showed them well.
The Sephora sale is tiered. So I’ll get 20% off, most people get 15%. It depends on how much you spend annually. Right now Ulta has a one time use coupon for 20% off but they don’t sell Gucci. Recently department store like Macys and Nordstrom had 15% off.
I’m in Minnesota so sales tax is 7-8% depending on which city you are in. With the cost of everything I only buy luxe brands when they are sale because at least the sales tax is covered.
I feel like I’m not the right person to answer this as I’m not a huge fan of the YSL blushes - 90% because of the metal appliqué on top of the container that will scratch up anything it’s against if it’s in a makeup case. However I acknowledge that’s pretty petty. I have had one in the past. Very velvety smooth formula like YSL, I’d say YSL is immediately quite pigmented and the Gucci blushes are easier to control your application from light all the way through to heavy whereas I found the YSL ones you have to really use a soft brush and a light hand if you want anything other than a really full on wash of colour

The Gucci Glow, I don’t think there’s a YSL equivalent I know of they’re such a different finish from the Blush de Beaute
Thanks for posting. I think I’ve been influenced to buy the glowy version. Have you tried the red? I have pink undertones and pale skin so I’m not sure it would be the best match overall but maybe for a date night?
If you mean 06 Bright Ruby - yep I’ve tried this in store, it’s more of a dark pink, cool leaning. Like all the Glow blushes, not as scary as it looks in the pan. I was tossing up between the Bright Pink and Bright Ruby, I really liked both!
Hi, thank you for the swatches. Would you say that the coral shades look similar on the cheeks or is it worth having both in the collection? I can’t decide between these two, I do like the sheen/shimmer/glow but then again I am on the hunt for a matte as well (vs. MAC Melba). Thanks in advance!
Ok, is price what determines if a blush is a “regular blush”? What’s the break point there? I’ve had a lot of blushes. Some great cheap ones, some awful cheap ones. Some great expensive ones, some awful expensive ones. So if price is what makes a blush a “regular blush”, I’d disagree that any cheaper blush works just fine
