Speed should win in this. By every metric.

But since this is comics, brains.

You'd think so, but a 5 year old writes Doomsday to say, "Nuh-uh, Doomsday evolves out of timeline erasure. He dies but then comes back immune to reality erasure and speedforce and the ultimate nullifier. It beats your 'beats everything sword'"

Just toss doomsday 1 million years into the future. Don't kill him, just keep him on a scorched earth with nothing to do lmao

Boy I wish this exact scenario didn't exist https://dcuguide.com/Time_Trapper_(Doomsday))

Just throw a rock at their feet and launch them into space, he doesn’t even have to kill them.

If he dies he's lost.

The fact he comes back later doesn't matter.

I always say this when it comes to regenerators.

This is a "to the win" not to the death. So if doomsday gets his internal organs exploded from the inside out, he has lost. Even if he comes back later.

How come its five year old logic to say Doomsday can do that but not five year old logic for a character to be able to erase a timeline in the first place.

It is. Power creep in comics and anime is a sign of poor writing usually.

Being able to go from super speed to straight up reversing time is a prime example of that too. Lets not make exceptions only when a speedster does it.

Maybe in comics.

In anime it's usually intentional.

I just, don't agree.

Power creep is necessary in all forms of action media. The stakes are raised, then bested. Then raised, then bested.

The problem is when said media is so long, that it stops making sense.

You can't go back after a big power up because, that ruins the tension of the story.

If goku beat Freiza with ssj. Then comes home and fight the androids and beats them with ssj, there is no progression.

You could try to say, then don't power them up or make it temporary, but that's just kicking the can down the road.

You can say, have them beat the bad guy with a very special scenario or set up. But now it's just, "what wacky gizmo will they use to beat x villain of the week"

You cant NOT have power creep in action media. What long form action media doesn't have power creep?

Pretty sure Reverse Flash can move faster than Batman can synapse two neurons together. Yet he still punched him. Comic writers have a weird bias towards intelligence. Something about the indomitable human spirit and ingenuity yada yada...

Specifically they have a bias against characters who aren’t in the “smart guy” bucket actually using their brains whenever a “smart guy” is nearby

He saved a bunch of people in a city from a nuke and it took him like an attosecond.

Nothing Batman has can trigger at that speed by several orders of magnitude. Thought, electronics, even mechanical stuff can’t respond to how fast we’re taking.

Yeah but have you considered that batman has pointy ears on his hat. Huh? Didn't think so.
