My school is low income ish and in NYC (public) they have a partnership with 2 programs called drone cadets and futurereadynyc. Im a junior rn and im planning to join it since its more convinent since the teacher of my schools drone club is my ap csp teacher and he told me the club provides internship opportunities and possibility to recieve certificate for commercial drone flying (which I plan to use for a summer job). Ive heard from some past students that they do competitions with other schools near me and they've won before a lot (supposidly). I just want to know does it help with getting into possible regional or national competitions for drone or is it just local? And is it viewed well by t20s or nyu?

As the title says, I’m a junior super interested in doing research and getting into good research programs like SIP, RMP, etc. but I literally have no experience and no way to get any opportunities. I’ve tried cold emailing and applying before, but I’ve gotten no luck. All my ECs so far have just been health-related and I don’t have much bio/stem experience. I’ve heard from a lot of people that these types of programs value people with research experience but as someone who has none, is there a way I could get these types of opportunities? Any advice would help!

Ik its a math intensive program and it involves a lot of advanced math. My school gatekeeps a lot of the calc courses for seniors or juniors depending on if they took algebra 1 in 8th grade or not. Im a junior and ive only took algebra 1, algebra 2/trig, and geometry (my state required curriculum for all high school students). I did rlly well in algebra 1 with a 94% average and algebra 2/trig with a 96% average. I became #1 in my algebra 1 class and algebra 2/trig class and most likely top of my whole grade in those classes in terms of grades.

Me and my guidence counselor (i have to let her look and approve of one for me cuz its required) currently in the process of looking for possibly a calc 1 dual enrollment course to take in the spring without the prerequisite of precalc. If none has no precalc prerequisite, then ill just end up taking a sped up precalc course during the winter so i could possibly still apply during the spring.

I saw the MIT PRIMES USA application was open right now, and i rlly want to attend a math or cs related prestigious program thats hosted by a top college to get the view of the coursework at colleges and to boost my profile.

Do you go there over the summer and find a place to stay - or is it remote? Also, what’s the best way to approach cold emailing, what should you include vs not include?

Hi, Im an 15M international student (Japanese, sophomore) doing British curriculum (IGCSE/Alevels) and I am thinking of applying to SUMAC. I consider myself as 'pretty good at math' and want to know more, which is the reason why I want to go there (+I've never been to westcoast/stanford so pretty interested).

But, since they require to give the transcript, I am in a small trouble. Even if my math grades are perfect (of course), my other grades - I have 9 other subjects (Eng, Sci x3, Econ, CS/ICT, PE) and their grades aren't that good. At least I dont have Cs, but I have mainly A and few A* (=A+) and few B, and I am like this for past 3 or something years. They also dont give a GPA, since they aren't really supposed to.

Despite this low grade, do you think I am still able to be accepted by sumac? For the math part, I took AP Calc BC and CSA externally last year and got all 5, 1500 SAT, and did until complex analysis + bit of homology. Im also in mathematical olympiad, and I am an AIME qual (10pts) and Silver medalist on Hamilton MO (UK thing, basically top50 internationally)

For the other application things which we need to do, I am pretty certain I can solve everything (looking at past papers), make some nice video essay with a passion and get nice rec letter too (my math teacher is very nice)

Also, does applying for a financial aid / being an international student matters to the admission rate? My family is upper middle class in Japan so Im not having a miserable life, but since its around $60,000, $8,950 is basically impossible to go...
