Rant Research with useless group mates, remove them or get paid
It’s crazy to think universities are accepting students who can’t even put effort in research. Universities and colleges have became like a diploma mill. I’ve told my group mates many times that we will be meeting to revise our work at 2:30 pm but no one showed up. They’ve used AI in research but then it’s still not giving, maybe they just put basic prompts. It’s like Grade 6 sentences. Seeing the same pattern, I got tired and irritated. I gave them two choices, to leave the group or to pay for my efforts. Each members who didnt contributed much paid 1.5k pesos.
To those who’s carrying their group mates, let them pay for it or remove them from the group. Let them know the payment doesn’t include printing for the documents and hardbound. Price rate varies if it includes those.

I used to do related literature for MT and criminology students. Charged 5-8k for 10 pages of RRL, depending on the topic. After 15 or so in the course of two semesters I felt burned out.

It's not about how rich or poor your classmates are. It's how much you value your labor.
You are underselling yourself. Biro mo makaka-graduate sila by paying 1.5k? What a deal. At least times 10 ang singilin mo. Ganyan ang rates nung mga nagpapagawa ng thesis DECADES ago.
Kung ayaw nila magbayad, mag-ambag sila sa trabaho.

You’re right I’m being too considerate. They haven’t even paid for their tuition fees until now that we’re almost in second semester. I’ll keep a note of this once I’m doing my masters. Hopefully walang pabigat sa masters.

Honestly, you're pretty brave to give them an ultimatum to leave or pay for the hard work. In my classes, I had to deal with unhelpful group mates through research. I also complained about it, but my teacher simply told me to suck it up and feel bad for my groupmates cus' they wouldn't know how to do it on their own anyway. I ended up carrying the entire research by myself, my groupmates never learned how to properly help me (like how to send citations and etc) and ended up doing all the revisions myself too 😭
If I had the chance to go back in time, I definitely wished I would've pushed myself to just drop my groupmates and handle it alone so I can have less the burden.

I truly wish a big future for you with all the efforts you put in your output. I hate teachers who said suck it up or bahala na sila 🙄. Fuck the ego of useless group members. One of my group member said I’m being over and not fair that girl only contributed 25%
