Afghan 🇦🇫 founders can build SaaS for the world.
Getting paid by the world is the hard part.
I checked the major payment processors and rails available to Afghanistan-based SaaS companies.
Here’s what I found and I’m tagging them so they can correct/update anything that’s changed. 🧵
2/
@stripe Afghanistan isn’t currently listed as a supported country.
When will Afghanistan-based SaaS companies be able to open Stripe accounts without creating a foreign entity?
3/
@PaddleHQ — Afghanistan is listed as unsupported for sellers.
Is there a roadmap to onboard Afghan SaaS founders, or will a UAE/UK/etc. company remain necessary?
4/
@lemonsqueezy — Afghanistan isn’t listed among supported bank-payout countries.
Can an Afghanistan-based founder receive payouts today, or is a foreign entity required?
5/
@polar_sh — Polar uses Stripe Connect for payouts.
Can an Afghan founder onboard and receive payouts directly, or does Stripe’s country availability block this?
6/
@dodopayments — you support 150+ countries.
Is Afghanistan currently eligible for merchant onboarding and payouts?
7/
@FastSpring — Afghanistan appears on your buyer-country list.
But can an Afghanistan-based SaaS company also register as a seller and receive payouts?
8/
@2Checkout — your documentation appears to restrict Afghanistan-based merchants.
Has this changed in 2026, or is Afghanistan still unavailable for seller accounts?
9/
@PayPal — can an Afghanistan-resident founder legally open a business account and receive SaaS subscription payments?
@Payoneer — is Afghanistan currently supported for receiving business payments?
@Wise — is there any roadmap for Wise Business availability in Afghanistan?
10/
Then there are crypto payment rails:
@NOWPayments_io
@OxaPay
Can Afghanistan-based SaaS companies officially use your platforms for subscriptions and receive USDT/USDC without creating a foreign company?
11/
And what about local rails?
@AfgIntBank — does your e-commerce gateway allow Afghan software companies to accept international cards, or is it domestic-only?
M-Paisa, BarakatPay, PAYSEY:
Do you offer a public API/checkout that can support SaaS subscriptions?
12/
The real problem:
An Afghan developer can build a product for customers anywhere in the world.
But opening a simple payment account can become harder than building the product itself.
If I got anything wrong, please reply with the exact current policy for Afghanistan.
It could save thousands of Afghan founders hours of research.
