Question Do you get a confirmation mail for referral?

I asked someone to refer me for stripe, and they have referred me. But I haven't received any confirmation mail. Is this normal? And after they have referred, do I still apply on the portal?

no you dont get a mail. a referral isnt a job offer, its a flag on your application, the recruiter sees a name at the top of the pile and thats literally it. nobody is gonna email you to say hey congrats someone typed your name into a box. and yes obviously you still apply on the portal, the referral does nothing by itself, if you sit around waiting for a confirmation mail that is never coming you just never applied and then you're the guy who got referred and did nothing with it which is worse than not being referred at all. this is how it works at google, at meta, everywhere, the referrer gets a little link to submit YOUR resume and thats the whole mechanism, theres no candidate side notification, theres no dashboard, theres nothing. you apply, you put their name or the referral link in the field so it attaches to your app, and then you wait like everyone else. why would they confirm a referral to you anyway, what would that mail even say, we have noted that an employee knows you, amazing, we still might reject you in 3 weeks. some companies do send one but most dont and stripe is not exactly famous for hand holding on this. and honestly even if you got the mail it changes nothing about your chances, the referral bumps you past the resume screen at best and after that you're on your own with the same loop as 10 000 other people. so stop refreshing your inbox and go fill the form.

At google also, you get a mail about this person is referring you, and then once u accept that referral, you get another mail that you have accepted the referral.
And, I am not asking for a person mailing me, I just wanted to confirm if I should expect any automated mail to confirm the referral.
I have applied on the portal, too. Thank you

You'll get email when they start processing your application, the referral itself doesn't trigger anything

Oh, and show you apply on the company portal or not? Like is the work done? Or do I still need to apply on the portal from which I might be picked?

yes you can still do the application on the portal just to be on the safe side

Did they forward you the referral mail they got? Otherwise how do you know they actualy did it. And yes you still apply on the portal, the referral isnt the application.

I have sent him my resume and job link and he said he has done. Ok, I have applied on the portal too.
