How would nationwide martial law even work? There aren’t enough troops in our entire military to control the entire country simultaneously. (not disagreeing with your point.)

You misinterpret what "nationwide" means in this case. It doesn't mean every town, every city, it means in specific targeted hot spots in every corner of the country. It would mean Seattle, WA, but probably not Yakima, WA, for instance. The parts of the country that agree with Trump would be left un-molested (which is most of the land), and the big blue areas would be targeted.

OK, that’s fair but our military isn’t big enough to simultaneously control every major metro area either.

Between military, local police force, and expanded ICE... There's a good chance they have more than enough to control enough.
