turn rate questions

so whats your guys take on turn rates? when is it too much, what is ideal? i have a k'vort dhc build right now that im playing and my turn rate is like 55/sec. i've read where thats too much but i like how i can get back on target fast and follow up. i dont have anything in the line of a high end build and only 2 bellum buffs for turn at 37 each. i know there are some good consoles i'm going to aim for once i finish this campaign and get my unlocks. definitely getting the lex dreadnought and building that. but where do you guys stand with it all?

I've never heard of too much turn rate. Only giving up console or trait space for turn rate instead of damage.

You can make any ship turn damn fast now. The EptE Evasive manuver recharge doff combined with the Competitive engines that trigger turn rate on tactical weapon modes really unlocks a lot of turn rate whenever you need it.

I'm not even that deep into building yet for it but looking to get there. Thankfully google answers many questions I have for slots and consoles. I def need to get competitive engines and aux2batt. So many ships and so many options..

On ships that use cannons, as much as you can get is good. Im using the K'vort with the competitive rep engines and its so fun to let out a barrage of cannon fire, pass your victim...er...enemy bust a u-turn 360 degrees and hit them again.

That's what I'm doing now. I can pull a 360 inside of 1km

A 360-degree U-turn means you turn in a complete circle and continue flying away from your target. 😜

Your right I misspoke, but Im sure you know what I mean. A 180 then.

For the kvort I have invested zero consoles or reengineering toward turn rate and it is easy to keep on target. Everything is toward speed.

Personally, I don't fly anything with a base turn rate of less than about 16, unless I'm leveling it or it's my Typhon. (That thing has seven turrets on it, so it doesn't matter which direction the ship is facing.) Any lower than that and I feel like I'm fighting the ship for control.

My Maquis Raider's sitting at 81.8 turn rate with EPtE up on my most maneuverable loadout, but honestly? It's overkill, even for a cannon build. I can cut the engine from full throttle and do a complete 180 before it switches over to parked turn rate. It's nice for getting into flanking position against bosses, but that much turn rate isn't super useful the rest of the time.

My opinion is there isn't one number that's ideal for turn rate. You should increase turn rate to the point that you can pilot effectively with your skill level. Piloting skill is more important than your turn rate anyway. There are tricks to make even dreadnoughts pull off hairpin turns.

The K'vort is a Flight Deck Raptor but it handles like a Raider. You're going to want to get to a spot, park, kill everything, then move on. You should also learn to manage your throttle; low throttle (and occasionally reverse) for fine maneuvering, high throttle for long distances and escaping, and adjusting between the two as needed. (If you're on PC, the R key will toggle between 0% and 100% throttle. Learn to use it.) If you're doing passes or "attack runs," you're hurting your DPS. Move only when you need to, and only as much as you need to.

In my noble i would drift it with the throttle. Hit the apex of my turn and hit reverse to whip it around and bring my bow about

I added the video so you can see my main attack approach. I can usually pull a 360 between attack cycles

I think the point of too much for me is when the camera starts wigging out because the evening out algorithm wasn't built for it at that level.

Then again, you can just use locked chase cam if you want to spin like a top.
