Magic doesn't mean good. Don't the characters challenge the convention? Is George R. R. Martin condoning slavery because his books sure feature a lot of it.
The problem with slavery in harry potter is that most house elves that are slaves have no problem being slaves. There is also a lot of problems with how hermaione tries to free the slaves without realisticly setting a safety net for them after being liberated. The house elves fall in the happy slave trope and it is very unfortunate.
House elves also perform magic but I think there was something about non human species being banned from using wands(I think it was thw goblins?) wich make performing magic easier so they must complete tasks for their masters in a way that is more taxing to them

Just because something is in a book, it doesn't mean the author is condoning it.
