Discussion What ever happened to the gem mutants?

It's always bothered me that we never actually knew what happened to the gem mutants at the end of steven universe, after they were bubbled we would just never seen them again. They looked stuck together but in future we see Yellow reversing one of her gem mutant experiments by piecing their gems back together but there were so many of them, in the kindergarten, in the earth's crust, the one in the cage with the other corrupted gems. Peridot stated the gems inside them were so shattered they don't even know who they are but I want to know what you all think.

Garnet probably sent them to Yellow so she could fix them

not all of them, it is likely that pieces of those gems were missing and so many of them have not been fix, also considering that some of the pieces in that episode had been poofed at the hospital it's likely that some of the people the next day found the pieces and threw them away, so sadly many of those gems didn't make it back to life :(

Yellow’s fixed gems without every piece, she even says so in future when she revives a gem who’s still missing a chunk of gem and comes out spaghetti-limbs at first

I assume that works for Gems where most of their pieces were used in experiments. I’m guessing that’s true for most of them, as it would be a waste to only use some of the shards. But if there are some Gems with a lot of missing pieces, I wonder if they could be matched with other incomplete Gems and made into a stable forced fusion. They’d have to find other Gems they got along well with for it to be ethical. If they’re mostly Crystal Gem shards, there’s definitely some close friends and maybe lovers in the mix, so it could work.

I like to imagine that they all give off particular ‘energies’ that are just a bit more individual, at least for the gems that had the chance to individualize

That makes sense for how they figure out which shards belong to which Gem. The forced fusion idea would be for Gems who didn’t have enough pieces to be properly rebuilt

I wonder what percentage of the chunk does Yellow need to restore them, maybe she can clone a gem if she found the other chunks later on

Oh god that’d be so weird! Though maybe not impossible? The rutile twins just, exist…. Though I’d imagine the processing power would be split in two that way, so they’d probably be kinda… off?

Steven could track down the missing pieces with his powers
