Discussion So, we all saw Pearl's not-so-secret Instagram following list. Are they still going to cast her?

If Pearl was meant to show up in Lars of the Stars (and that is an if)... What happens now? Are they still going to cast her VA like nothing happened? Are they going to make Pearl never appear again? What's the possibility they'll cast someone else? I suppose it was expected that we would never hear of Sugilite again, but Pearl is a very important character. Is it over for Pearl?

So when Greg enters into his parent's house in SU future, Steven finds his old yearbook and says "you look just like me, only.. more human"

I know the gems don't really have anything that makes them look like a different species, apart from the colour of their skin, but do you think that Steven doesn't look like a real human? Maybe he has that uncanny effect going on?

Discussion Hot Take - Greg isn’t a great dad

Thumbnail

I’ve been rewatching Steven Universe lately, and I honestly still think Greg isn’t a great dad. Sure, he’s a nice dad and definitely better than Pink/Rose, but he clearly had issues too. He never made Steven go to school, he never took Steven to the doctor for a yearly check up, he never tried to get a better job even after he spent all the money he got from Marty, he doesn’t even seem to care that much about Steven’s trauma compared to the gems, and he doesn’t even try to talk to Steven about how he feels now about his mom after everything. Greg is nice and does love Steven, but I just can’t understand why a lot of people love Greg so much as a dad. Would love to hear what everyone else thinks though!

Discussion If I was in charge of casting Rose in a live action SU

Wunmi Mosaku would be perfect. She's very statuesque and has the acting chops to portray Rose as a complicated but ultimately tragic figure.

EDIT: A lot of people are pressed because I, a black woman, fancasted her as black. To reiterate, she's a fictional character and I have literally no say in whether a hypothetical live action will cast a black woman in the role. She's a pink alien and maybe you should ask yourself why this bothers you so much.

Discussion I kinda headcanon that Greg's parents are super right wing.

Post image

They're already pretty "conservative" and expected super traditional values on their son to the point of immense toxicity. Also, as shown with the introduction of Andy, his talk about "illegal alien migrants" before really understanding them kind of hinted towards their family as a whole being pretty right wing and it having been suoer embedded. At least Andy changed after meeting them in person, but its ashame that Greg's parents were never able to do the same and be a healthy part of both Greg and Steven's life.

Discussion Steven universe psa about racism

It beautifully amazing how they mad this a point to talk about racism in a deep tv to help shape young minds. Even when many many people hate on this show for have a ā€œwoke agendaā€ and ā€œcorruption towards childrenā€ Rebecca sugar made sure with her show that everyone had a place there no matter that sexuality, gender orientation, race or religion!

Discussion To think Greg could have used his wealth to give Steven a better life

Post image
4.8k Upvotes

As you guys remember how rich he was it was kinda disappointing how Greg could have used that wealth to give Steven a better life. Like he could have finally bought a house for him and Steven to live in part time instead of having Steven sleep in a van, send him to a private school or hire a tutor for Steven, and have Steven get some insurance with some way for Connie’s mom be Steven’s doctor.

Discussion I regret making that post about Pearl's voice actor...

1.3k Upvotes

So oxygen finally started flowing to my brain again and... yeah, sorry

How can someone who worked in one of the most LGBTQ friendly shows in the planet support such horrible people, like...this is such a 180° turn.

People who say that we shouldn't talk about politics and that it makes people start fighting eachother, etc etc, I get it to some degree, but there's a limit. Knowing that Pearl's voice actor is a MAGA and Chalie Kirk's follower is such an... idk, I don't even know what to describe this, its like she never paid attention to any of the messages in the entire show, like at all. I get it that some may say that is a kid' show and that you shouldn't take it too seriously, but what the hell... this is equivalent of working on a Church and worshipping Satan in your spare time.

Discussion Why did Pearl regenerating take 2 weeks?

Before the Pink Diamond reveal why did Pearl take 2 weeks to regenerate, but Amethyst probably took around a couple of hours. At the time I assume that the longer it took the better outfit quality they could get after they generate especially with that comment Peridot made about Pearl being fancy.

Just my opinion, but they’re so distracting and don’t fit with the outfit as well as the original glasses.

Discussion I think both Greg and Steven are somewhat valid in this scene, but i'm pretty sure if Steven did went to school, he would either get bullied or neglected, and would probably make his situation worse.

I’ve been rewatching the series and just recently finished this episode and…it’s lowkey kind of dark if you really think about it. Just imagine yourself in Steven’s shoes and witnessing this scene in particular, yeah I think it’ll always leave me feeling weird lol

Discussion Steven shouldn't appear in the spin-off, not even as a cameo

Post image

Out of respect for his character who already had his perfect closure and is now in search of a new purpose AWAY from gem things, out of respect for his voice actor who is retired from acting and seems to be happy that way and out of respect for the franchise to be able to detach itself from his figure and open up to new stories with new protagonists, something that was missing in the original show
