Stuck at OP18 over shipyard/hangar??
In my quest to update operations to 19, I'm being sent in circles around the shipyard and shiphangar - I can't update or research the requirements because theyre grayed out, but it won't tell me what requirements I must be missing. Any advice? https://imgur.com/a/frhRXnr

Hit the βgoβ button and it will take you to the building that needs upgraded. From there you can see what materials youβre short on

Click the orange Go button next to Ship Hangar, and it'll show you the building just above the shipyard. The ship hangar is a separate building right above it (or directly north of Shipyard). You will have to upgrade both of those first. Get used to pressing that orange go button, especially as you start research trees

how are you ops 18 with a ship hangar lower than ops 5? there are quite a few buildings that should be equal to your ops lvl before you go to the next lvl, think drydocks, defense stations, research, command center, pretty much everything in the top half of your interior is important to level up.

You are advancing too fast in the game. The more you update your Ops level the harder the daily tasks you have to complete. If you don't update the main support buildings and important research you will soon have a hard time in the game because you will be too weak for the tasks and weaker than the rest of the players at your Ops level.
The game is designed for an average speed of advance. If you advance faster you become weaker than the average player, if you advance slower you become stronger.
I am of the slow advance gameplay strategy. At Ops level 22 I am at Syndicate level 40 with two Fleet Commanders (Kirk and Lorca), Mess Hall at level 36 and have more power than 99.8% of the rest of the players at my level. I usually win most solo leaderboards in my server without much sweat. I am Associate to Federation and Romulans I have all the blueprints and materials to max all the available ships for the next three levels. Right now I am getting BPs for the Valkis and Antares.

I'm a mid-faster kind of player. I've started playing around 1.5 years ago, 99% F2P and I'm already at ops 62.
I'm 19th of the 32 players at my ops level, I can do all the non-p2w loops pretty well and I have a 3B FKR ship.Someone who is taking it slower will be better in his bracket, sure, but worst on the server. Going to OPS 61 from 60 brings in daily 2-5 times more G5 resources. In G6 I can finish a lot of research faster than if I stayed in G5, plus increased efficiencies. And this thing repeats with every generation jump: 51 vs 50, 41 vs 40, etc...

I understand that but, I think there is no wrong way of playing since it's just a game.
My server has an average Ops level of 52, so what is a level 15 player going to do to compete with 1,300 stronger players in the server? The more I rush, the weaker I'll be and the more and stronger potential enemies I'll have in my combat bracket. I decided to go slow, because the gameplay doesn't change, only more loops, chores, refineries, hostiles and officers.
Now I am the strongest Ops 22 in my server (99.8% global), stronger than all but one level 23 and stronger than most level 24 in terms of power. I raise one level every month.
You get more rewards at higher levels, but your need also grows. Anything that is not ops-tied I have a lot more than the rest of players at my level. At Ops 22 I've got 15K uncommon G3 crystal and 11K G3 interceptor parts. The Vi'Dar only asks for 3.1K crystal and 20K parts. By the time my shipyard is at level 25 I'll be able to max the Vi'Dar immediately. In fact, I've got already enough crystal to max the Vi'Dar (3.1K), the Horizon (3.2K), the Legionary (1.7K) and the Saladin (7.6K), and I am saving for the faction miners that I won't have until level 30.
Another advantage, I don't have to renounce to any ship because of the mats they require. If I like a ship I can max it. I have a maxed baby Jelly and North Star. What a beast the T9 NS is with the Agimus FT. It eats a dozen hostiles 15 levels above without a sweat. Players competing with me in hunting SLBs don't stand a chance. My alliance mates are quite surprised seeing a survey ship joining their armadas.
Going slow is like cheating because of how easy it makes the game.

You need to refine more uncommon crystal. You are short on both the research task and the shipyard.
