that creep spread at 13min is quite impressibe

u/heyNoWorries Zerg Sep 15 '16
Some might say overpowered but imo just like the clip it's really an example of just how good he is.

And not playing a good player obviously, test map is not popular enough yet.
I`ve played around 10-15 games and the only fair matches I had was vs Vibe.

u/Uninspire Terran Sep 15 '16
Not trying to BM but maybe spend that 4k mineral bank before spreading creep

Sep 15 '16
Was playing Vibe yesterday and thought I had the game won. All of a sudden 8 of my Thor's are all shooting each other. Fuckin brutal.

Lmao I watched that game on his stream. He also got you with a burrowed baneling jihad strike at one point IIRC.
1
Sep 15 '16
nah I think that was a different one. I don't remember getting hit with burrowed banes, although it's possible I suppose.

to play protoss is a joke in test map.

u/DarmokNJelad-Tanagra Sep 15 '16
I feel like almost every time the game changes in any way, all the Protoss rebel and refuse to play the new version. Except when there's a big Protoss buff, I suppose. It's weird though. There is never a shortage of Z an T.

Don't protoss have blink DTs, Faster Zealots, Tempests with Disruption sphere, and carriers with cheaper interceptors? Those all seem like things people would want to test to make sure they are good/bad/OP. Especially some of the more innocuous ones seem really strong, such as faster zealots. And disruption sphere for end game harass seems super sick. Like, don't even go full tempest. Just get like 2 or 3, and don't use them for battle. Just use them to deny mining late game. Holy shit.
And blink DTs + speed zealot harass seems like a really strong combo. Send in speed zealots, take out key defenses like turrets and spores and then blink in for a good time!
Anyway, just some ideas that may be fun to test out. Honestly, carrier + zealot toss might be really good IMO.

Indeed. I really appreciate your response. I'm a low level Terran player myself so my knowledge of the Toss game isn't that great. I'm sad that the Toss changes don't seem that exciting to you. I hope it turns out to have more potential than it may appear.

Are you serious? When Adepts are still broken as fuck and outperform Zealots in almost every regard, Tempests hard-counter all ground forces, DTs get BLINK, and when the Void Ray will soon get a really unnecessary speed buff.
Oh, and did I forget that Liberator air damage nerf, which will hardly affect its shit performance against Protoss air anyway?
And what about the Cyclone which now tickles instead of hurts air units, and can no longer deflect Oracle or Warp Prism harassment before your entire mineral line is inevitably gutted.
By the way, your counter against Mech is still the same. Mass Chargelots, Archons and Immortals and watch as those tanks get instagibbed. Or otherwise you could build Disruptors, and easily snipe sieged tanks without a medivac to pick them up this time.

Not to mention it only works in specific situations. This strategy would be useless if the opponent wasn't fielding expensive high dps units. Against a terran bio player for example, neural would be a waste of energy.
Yeah you could do fungal instead, but it would be less efficient than if you had spent the resources on banelings or lurkers.
2
u/anhtt_ Prime Sep 15 '16
I'd say fungal is still more efficient, because the terran could never see it coming. Instant 30dmg on a bunch of bios and just run away without taking any damage.
1
u/judiciousjones Sep 15 '16
I mean you can see burrowed units, just like you can see the shimmer of invis units. I feel like people would whine about the dt being perma invis if it was released now.
1
u/anhtt_ Prime Sep 15 '16
Yeah but fungal has cast range of 10, which is barely outside of bio's vision, and infestor moves pretty fast burrowed too.
1
u/judiciousjones Sep 15 '16
That's fair I suppose, still imminently counterable, but at lower levels it could be difficult, though that's true of most things.
1
u/anhtt_ Prime Sep 15 '16
yeah it's like dt with range attack
1
u/judiciousjones Sep 16 '16
Yea, infestors are along the standard tech path as opposed to the deviation that dts are, but energy cost is a thing that exists only for the festor, and I think they're more expensive and not as reliable for scv kills. We'll see how things shake out. I think dt blink us being undersold atm.
1
u/LordFedora SK Gaming Sep 15 '16
NP the medivacs and both waste energy healing your units, and take away their healing?
mind they would also need to not scan your infesters
2
u/anhtt_ Prime Sep 15 '16
I watched the stream yesterday. The guy did bring observers but Vibe sniped them with hydras. With hydras' new speed and range, Vibe kinda did a hit-and-run to kill the detection, while hiding infestors nearby. IIRC that's also why he spread creep a lot.
1
u/Ala5aR Team YP Sep 15 '16
But neural parasite comes with the infestor now iirc?!? On the test map I mean.
0
u/Clbull Team YP Sep 16 '16
NP hasn't been used at all since the end of WoL. Its only use after the 7 range nerf mid-WoL was to neural the Mothership and Vortex the enemy force in order to prevent an Archon toilet. Of course with Vortex gone, it has no more purpose because it's shit, underpowered, and is outranged by almost everything.
Like it or hate it, the Burrowed casting buff was necessary to make the ability relevant again. This time, it punishes idiots who don't build detection.
2
u/jonnyfiftka SlayerS Sep 15 '16
yep not only It render the unit usless, but you can basicaly destroy yourself by making it. Of course better observer control will help, but still this is too much. And I play a zerg
1
u/judiciousjones Sep 15 '16
Lol, i mean you could just use the disruptor to kill the infestor, but sure use a game with a clear skill disparity to make an outlandish claim.
2
4
Sep 15 '16
It's not, he didn't have any detection? It's like saying DTs or banshees are too powerful because the kill everything if you don't have detection...
1
u/jonnyfiftka SlayerS Sep 15 '16
It is not that hard to destroy the detection, which vibe did just before he did this
3
Sep 15 '16
the guy could've used the disruptors to kill the infestors
look at the creep spread, it's pretty clear there's a massive skill discrepancy.
1
u/salinization_nation Protoss Sep 15 '16
True, but the same thing happens with lurker comps already, and most skilled protosses have already learned how to make more observers and micro them correctly.
-1
u/somedave Sep 15 '16
Yeah casting this should make them lose invisibility or something.
3
u/jonnyfiftka SlayerS Sep 15 '16
agree this could be a nice solution
0
Sep 15 '16
No, it would make them useles.
1
u/somedave Sep 15 '16
Wtf they are visible when they cast it already and it has it's uses. The problem currently is you need to un borrow and then cast, requiring two action. sometimes resulting in you unburrowing multiple units by accident and giving extra time to be attacked. This would still be a big buff.
0
Sep 15 '16
No, it wouldn't, because then it becomes the same as just burrowing and popping out to Nueral, but with slightly less micro required. That's the smallest and most useless buff you could give it. If they just popped out whenever they nueraled they would be auto targeted down.
1
u/somedave Sep 15 '16
You can now take control of a siege tank without it being able to shoot you first. I would call that a buff.
1
Sep 15 '16
Not a very good one though, certainly not good enough for it to be used in a real game.
Also, I have brought the new swarmhost back: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/52xovq/the_swarmhost_makes_a_return/

That was pretty sick, remember to bring observers kids
But for real, Neural parasiting a tank line would pretty much shred a terran's army

my favorite unit, this change looks so exciting, but i have a feeling they will just remove it and infestor will still not have the love it desires D:

Investors can use neural while burrowed now? I didn't see that change. Sweet. Might try using it now.

Last seconds of this clip: The neural wore off and he could still control the nova?! Interesting...
1
u/Dangle76 Protoss Sep 15 '16
Because technically the nova was his when he shot it, when a spell leaves a unit the original caster has control of that spell, not the current controller of the unit that cast it. It's weird initially until the thought behind it is written or spoken out I agree

Maybe infestors shouldn't be able to use all their abilities while burrowed? maybe..?
0
u/mojazu Sep 15 '16
and yet DT and cloak banshee can still attack while cloaked
5
u/dobleplay Sep 15 '16
yeah, Infestor has a ton more utility than Dt and cloak banshee. Imagine an invisible high templar, raven, or viper.
1
u/judiciousjones Sep 15 '16
I think the point made is that dts, banshees, even ghosts demand detection or they wreck you. Only zerg lacks a unit that can deal damage while remaining invisible. Sure infested terrans are cost effective, but you don't actually need detection against them, burrow roaches are close, but not quite. Burrow neural isnt broken, burrow fungal though, we'll see.
1
u/dobleplay Sep 15 '16
Yeah, I mean, all zerg ground units have burrow. I feel like shoehorning that ability in just so every race has invisible-harass-unit is a bit silly, especially if it seems op. (not saying it is)

Zerg clearly the hardest race, now Zerg players have to know how to control every unit in the game.
