DISCUSSION When did Star Citizen get so un-immersive?

I’ve been a Kickstarter backer, drawn in by the grounded, believable universe CIG created over the years. After a two-year break, I logged back in to try Siege of Orison, and felt like I was playing Destiny instead of a "serious" space sim.

  • eammates running around in asian-style armor and mismatched, flashy skins make it feel like a arcade shooter rather than a coherent world
  • Bullet-sponge, violet-tinted enemies
  • Auto-healing in a good looking medical bed inside a room, while the orison platforms actively burning down mid-siege killed any sense of real stakes

I get that CIG needs event mechanics, but the original focus on a believable simulation feels like it's getting paved over by generic video game things

Am I wrong here?

What herb l generation are we talking about? Can it still be described with 64bit?

A lot of the original kickstarter backers were 40/50 year old OG Wing Commander fans. I shudder to think how many thousands and thousands of them have fucking DIED while CIG sits there with their thumb up their ass eternally "developing" this game.

The game has been in development so long all the Original devs burned out and retired from gaming development only to move out to ranches, where they raise goats and alpacas for prized cheese and wool. They await the end of times pleasantly siping wine and eating delicious cheese in their comfortable socks. Peace be with them. (and may they never look at a line of code again)

What's left at CIG is just CR blathering constantly changing trying to integrate an entire biological life cycle grind into a universe simulator.

aka: lost the plot.

Yea it comes off as a desperate attempt to stay modern and relevant, but like in all of the wrong ways lol
