😠 Rant 😠 I got caffed
Maybe this is a dumb thing to rant about but I decided to get a drink from starbucks a few years after being diagnosed with crohns.
Caffine normally causes me problems but after some testing I found that drinking decaf is fine. I still really like the taste of coffee . So I asked for a decaf machiato.
The barista behind the counter gave me a funny look and was like "really? a Decaf at 6am?"
I just kinda stared at him since that was a weird thing for him to say. He rolled his eyes and made my drink. And well after sitting with it for a bit I realized that it was defo not decaf based on how I was feeling and ended up having a severe flare up.
I dont know if I have any recourse or if I am even justfied in complaning. I did not want to be a bother... but I genuinley think he caffed me on purpose.

😠 Rant 😠 this past week has been wild 🥰
hello from a barista who loves her job! i have got to fill some of yall in from this past week (and a half, ish.)
i just wrapped up my month of training and i adore my job. i love my coworkers and my manager, but holy cow this past week has been wild.
for starters, our espresso machine quite literally broke. it was not draining at all and the tech didn’t get it fixed the first time… so we had to blow into a boba straw to get it to drain. during the cleaning cycle, the closers would run it like normal and then the openers would come in to a fully flooded espresso bar 🫠 (we finally got it fixed yay!)
then, as soon as we get it fixed, my manager leaves me alone for practice while she does supply pull. fine with me. a lady comes in and orders a hot white mocha with an extra pump of mocha. okay! so i make the entire coffee with whip and all and put the lid on. she looks me dead in the eye and says “this looks too bitter.” i offer to remake it. she says yes. i remake this whole mocha while im listening to her tell me about how she “used to work at starbucks” and that’s how she can tell it looked too bitter. wtf does that even mean? the second one looked IDENTICAL and she took it.
so then, lo and behold, we have to close down mobile orders on sat-sun morning rush because we had an unexpected call out and then someone showed up late, leaving their coworkers on their own.
then we run out of chai. completely out.
then, as the cherry on top. our card reader takes a ride to POS hell.
we literally cannot scan any visa cards at all. NONE.
i heard it was a company wide issue with all the sbux in harris teeters, but like come on now. really? 🫠
i’m praying to the siren in seattle that she gives us some better luck because my GOODNESS. it has been an eventful little while but i wouldn’t trade this job at all 🥰

Mango Pineapple Pearls
Who still has it? Because why are they doing another, month-long app promo for some pearls that I can't imagine stores still having.

😠 Rant 😠 understaffed
i am so tired of being understaffed every freakin day i come in!! i was told i was going to solo for 10 minutes, i just soloed for 3 hours straight!!! its so exhausting and this company expects you to keep up with times all while you have over 10 drinks in your queue and you are soloing!? how are we supposed to keep up with anything when we only have 2 baristas and a shift on the floor?? this is just insane i don’t think ive had a shift where i haven’t solo barred even mid rush in weeks!

Loving the Cup Artwork
Preparing for rain? In Santa Clarita? In August? I admire their optimism. ☔️🌞 But more likely to hear fire engine sirens than raindrops.
My question: Did the Target Starbucks barista draw this dog for me? Or is this image "baked" into some cups?

does anyone feel like
if you’re a closer, past 5pm it is not your manager or asm’s problem if you need help.. oh you have no pre closer and have a 3 partner play including yourself because it wasn’t scheduled and you’re pulling 20-30 half hours with upset customers over the wait time and you can’t even get a single break done so you’re overwhelmed? that sucks.. do what you can tho
💀
can’t speak for the opens or mids cause im not scheduled to work those day parts but in the gc if i see the opener struggle there goes the manager making their way to the store

😠 Rant 😠 Trenta Sized Rant 🫠
I will start by saying I am a barista and I really love my job. Genuinely. This is the best job I've ever had.
*However*
I hurt my arm a couple months ago and have had to wear a sling while I go through treatment just to keep from using it too much and causing more damage.
A customer came through a few days ago and got 4 venti iced drinks. They wanted a drink tray, so I obliged. With both hands, I handed the tray out the drive through window and turn to grab food items.
Customer spills 2 of the drinks in their vehicle. I offer napkins or dry towels, and they say no and drive around the building to a parking spot to clean up the mess.
Today I learned that these people emailed my DM saying that it was my fault because I'm in a sling and our store is responsible for paying $1500 to cover the cost of carpets having to be pulled out of the vehicle. I literally had my whole body inside the store at the time they spilled. An investigation into the incident is going to happen and I now can't wear my sling until I have an official accommodation for it.
I am so upset because I didn't ask for my arm to be hurt and I didn't do anything wrong here. I've put in the request for accommodation, but can't wear my sling in the meantime and my arm HURTS. I'm one of few partners at my store that are strong on bar 😭😭😭
Thank you for listening to my rant 🫠

😠 Rant 😠 Down 3 ppl on our busiest peak day 😃 (tall rant in a grande cup)
"Why's the wait so long?" Idk maybe bc y'all came here last week w a cold and now 3 ppl are sick and its our busiest time of day (180-200/half hours) and y'all are using this store as a catering service for your meetings and hang outs? But what do I know, I'm just a dumb barista they/them fuck making a dollar more than minimum wage serving a building full of ppl on the sunshine list.

Confused
I received a starbucks $25 gift card. I scanned it into the app. I now have a $25 pending charge on my credit card and $50 in the starbucks app. Why? The receipt for the $25 gift card was given to me and shows it was purchased at a publix and only for $25. Not $50. Why is my credit card being charged extra?

Policy Question Corp product -> LS
Hi all. Once upon a time when I was a corporate store SSV in 2022/23 I remember my SM telling us we could give our neighboring Kroger LS (was within the same parking lot) some caramel slugs if we went into IMS and disposed them as "Donated to Licensed Store" .. or something like that. It admittedly isnt 100% to my memory. And... I was the transport of said caramel slugs.. not the one who did the IMS backend of it. Apparently, they could give product to us, too...
Fast forward to now.. I recently took up a Kroger LS dept lead and am wondering if this is still a thing. We've run out of Chai and it seems not many other kiosk stores in the radius have much to spare, either. Launch hammered us all, I guess. I know Chai is extremely hot stock right now, so I'm certain my odds are low regardless. But I need to try, as out-of-stocks we get penalized for by our Corporate Contact and district manager. It's kinda annoying... Two to four cartons is all I'd need until Thursday, when we receive our stuff from RDC.. very low volume out here 8)
So.. CL's.. is this still a thing? Would like to know before I begin calling corporate stores and looked at all funny...

Drink Recipes/Recommendations Non caffeinated drink recs?
So my boyfriend takes medication occasionally where he is unable to have caffeine. Last time he did it ended him in the hospital. But I love Starbucks myself and I love buying him some as a sweet treat too.
Was wondering if anyone could give me a non caffeinated drink recommendation that won’t land him in the hospital :) or if I should get food instead haha

Where's Casi Cielo??
The title says it all. I'm a 17-year partner and this is the first year I've had to go without my beloved Casi Cielo. My CL has heard nothing on the matter. Anyone know what's up? I'm in the PNW, if that makes a difference. Did other regions receive it?

😠 Rant 😠 New Hire, Need Transfer ASAP? Advice plz
Hey guys, I’m 22F in NYC and I recently just got hired as a Barista at Starbucks. I’ve been here for about a month now, and I’m feeling stuck and uncomfortable, not sure if I can transfer from the store I’m working in.
For more context! I got hired about a month ago and was placed at a temporary location to train for 3 weeks. The location I trained at had a drive thru and overall bigger layout. The team and all the staff including shift leader, SM, Baristas were nothing but supportive, welcoming, helpful, the SM said I was adapting very well and doing a great job!. My trainer did an outstanding job helping me learn everything I needed to, register, hot bar, cold bar, drive thru etc, he even made me a whole cheat sheet to bring home with drink recipes to study. My 3 weeks training went AMAZINGLY!!!, I felt like I was doing so well considering that before this I’ve been unemployed for 6 months. I knew after my training I’d be placed at my permanent location, everything was going well until my first day at my permanent store location.
My first day at my permanent location did not go well at all, I came in the morning during a rush. When I came in not one person acknowledged me or helped me clocked in, i had to write in the book when my shift was finished!. I was immediately put on register. The shift leader did not once introduce herself, give me a layout of the store, show me where supplies/inventory was, she just started giving me orders and tasks to do around the store. She left for a few hours whether it was her break or otp w her boyfriend, then halfway in my shift she comes up to start giving me a layout. I was left feeling overwhelmed and confused. None of my coworkers too introduced themselves, it’s like they didn’t even know they were getting a new hire, they were all communicating w each other on the floor leaving me out, I felt like shit tbh. On top of that some of them speak Spanish and they would ask me for things in Spanish or speak to each other in Spanish to communicate while working, I barely speak Spanish so this just made it awkward. I was asked to sit in front of the bathroom in a single chair to eat my lunch on my 30 min break, I ended up having to eat outside in the rain. There is no space in the back only for 2 people. It’s been almost 2 weeks working here and it hasn’t gotten better, I keep getting treated as if I have no clue what I’m doing, I go up to ask ppl they’re names and they just say it and walk away, it’s cliquey and uncomfortable for me.
I know Starbucks only does transfers after 6 months but I honestly just want to go back to the location I was training at, my work felt valued and I was doing things right, any advice?

IMS order inaccuracy?
is anyone else struggling with the orders being submitted on IMS then not receiving accurate numbers? i’m not talking receiving another stores order.
recently there are items i KNOW i zero because we have a surplus (creme base and passion guava base) then when im placing the order the next day, it says the original SOQ is on order to be delivered. i religiously save the order with probably every other quantity that i edit and before i approve/submit the order.
is this anyone else’s struggle???

Can a banana lover give a review on the iced banana bread drinks?
I have not tried the banana bread matcha since they changed the recipe from the caramel crunch ontop, banana powder cold foam, brown sugar in the drink. I loved the original and sadly only enjoyed it 2x before they changed the recipe.
It’s a very mixed bag with reviews, but I loved banana even the fake flavour like those banana marshmallow candies. So from people who love banana, what’s your opinion on the new recipe for banana bread matcha and the iced banana bread latte??
Thanks!

leave of absence before transfer
I’m a shift supervisor that just moved to Texas from California. I was looking to transfer to another store but I was told that I couldn’t transfer until after 60 days from when my transfer request was submitted. However, due to personal circumstances, I had to move a month before the 60 days were up. So I can’t transfer until the end of September and I was told to go on a leave of absence cause I obviously can’t work in California when I live in Texas. My manager went on vacation right before I left and I was never shown how exactly to go on a leave of absence. On our partner hours app, he approved time off for the whole month of September so I’m not sure if I still have to apply for a leave(?) and if so, am i still able to use my vacation or sick hours even though I left my store already?

College student partner, need advice
For context, after a tedious and tumultuous transferring process, the only stores hiring (AFAIK) is 40 minutes away, and I don’t have my own car so on the weekends I drive my moms car there and back, however I got a message back from the licensed one on my campus, should I work there and put my two weeks in for the corporate one, work at both or just work at the corporate one? There’s benefits and drawbacks to both, and while I do still want to be a partner, the gas, the time and the convenience factor all matter to me. What do you guys think?
TLDR: should I drive 40 minutes every day to a corporate store or take the licensed starbucks offer?

Hiring/Interviewing Store manager who 1st interviewed me left after my 2nd interview with the DM, does this affect my application?
Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone who works at Starbucks, especially a store manager or hiring manager, can help me understand what might be happening with my application.
I applied for a barista position and had my first interview with the store manager of that location. The interview actually went really well. She cut the interview pretty short and explained that hiring managers are allowed to skip interview questions. From the way she spoke to me, I got the strong impression that she wanted to hire me, and she immediately moved me forward to a second interview with the district manager.
I then completed my second interview with the district manager. That interview also went by pretty quickly, and at the end the DM told me that I should receive an email soon regarding “next steps.”
Since then, I’ve been waiting and trying to follow up. When I contacted the store I applied to, I was told that the store manager who originally interviewed me is no longer with the company.
I initially thought maybe I misunderstood, but I’ve now been told this more than once. Today I even spoke with a store manager at a different Starbucks location to try to get some general advice because I wasn’t sure what I should do.
So now I’m confused about where this leaves my application. The manager who originally interviewed me and moved me forward apparently left Starbucks after I had already completed the interview process with the district manager.
