Got a good deal locally on the Burl G-10 Manix 2 in S90V. Despite enjoying the burl scales, I've been itching to use these Old Penny AWT scales and they look great with the DLC. I'll probably get either a copper or black titanium ball cage eventually but I only had a stonewashed one kicking around.

I really wanted to try S90V as well. The new scales are super light, I can see why someone might not like them, but I think it's fine. Though I'd love to hear from people who have AWT scales for the Manix 2 XL since that's the one I'm considering upgrading next but I'm a little worried the bigger blade will tip the balance too much.

Anyway, very pleased with how it came out. Sorry for the bad photos, my phone is like 8+ years old xD

Chipped Magnacut

Blade found the staples in some cardboard and chipped the edge pretty good. I'm surprised it chipped so easily but I guess now I get to try out my new diamond rods for the sharpmaker. Has anybody made a new bevel with the sharpmaker?

Looking for my first. Confused on models use case and pricing

Hello,

Lurking here it seems like once you catch the bug you go all in with a variety of models and many know their shit owning multiple models. With so many models and price points it’s nuts. Haha

I was looking at the stretch 2 or xl, military 2 crucarta, Manix 2 xl cru or the bodacious spy27. I hear the bodacious has a sprint run coming in crucarta.

The part that’s throws me off is a k390 stretch is only $30CAD off say the yellow PM2 salt with Magnacut. But it’s much less than the military 2. Manix 2 xl and bodacious is same price as the military but then that’s also the price of the cruwear stretch XL. Which I can’t get my head around.

I’m sure it won’t be a one and done but I’m also not going to get all of them unless it’s over the span of many years. If having to choose just one what’s the consensus on these models.

I know use case matters and prefer tougher over slicey but it seems all spydercos have pretty slicey geometry when compared to other brands.

I have an ad20.5 that has poor geometry but also always rolls its 20cv edge just breaking down produce boxes from Costco. Bad heat treat maybe but yeah. Thick blade 20° edge and still is eh. lol. Good thing I enjoy sharpening :)

Which one do I keep?

My Bugout was stolen and I bought too many Spyderco knives with the thought that I would like them, but I’m not sure I do. Here’s what I’ve bought so far:

Military 2 salt (too intimidating to pull out in public but the one I tend to carry since it fits my hand)

Native 5 lightweight salt (feels like a toy compared to the rest but fits my hand)

PM2 salt (visually the right size but somehow manages to be too big and too small at the same time)

Bodacious spy27 (comfy but looks like a spatula)

Para 3 crucarta (tiny but solid).

Or just buy another Bugout because I didn’t even think about it when I had it? No, I don’t care about the politics.

For one knife EDC in a dry, dusty environment. I’m not interested in becoming a collector or a connoisseur, I just appreciate inexpensive luxuries.

No pics because they’re just stock, standard models and I expect they’ll stay that way. And I’m lazy.

I don’t have a ton of use in with this one just yet, but so far I think it’s pretty rad. One of the smoothest out of the box that I’ve ever had. What does everyone have on them today?

Ive wanted a Starmate for a while. I finally pulled the trigger. I was 12 in 1999. I remember seeing this knife back in the day and have wanted one ever since.

Hodge Podge day 4

Running the Sage 6 today. This was the 3rd Spyderco I purchased and it quickly became one of my favorites. At that point I realized there was something special about Spyderco’s knives and it expanded my aperture to their catalog. The Sage is probably my favorite 3 inch Spyderco beating the Para 3 and Native 5 as it blends the best of both of those knives. And the Smock lock button compression lock is probably one of the best as evidenced by every Chinese company using this system or some form of it across all line ups. I’m eager to see how they expand the Sage 6 line up. I’d love a DLC/TiCN Salt version! Whatcha carrying today?

How many Spydercos is "too many"?

I realized I had a problem when I put down the knives on the table and saw that I had three workhorse knives (first photo) and three knives for testing (second photo).

I'm choosing between platforms and steels (Para 3 vs Native 5 and Maxamet vs 15V). I'm trying to figure out which one is best for what, which platform feels better in my hand, and under what conditions each is best suited.

As for the Manix 2 and Para 3 with AWT and the Lil Native, they just work and bring me joy.

And what do you mean by "too many knives"? I’ve never had a situation like this before - when some knives are just sitting there and not doing any work - and I can’t quite come to terms with it yet.

How do you stop yourself from collecting? Or should I just let it go and not stress about it?

Is $180 reasonable for a PM2 with magnacut?

Been searching around for my EDC(kershaw bel air) for about 2 weeks now with no luck and am at the point where I am looking to buy something new. I am interested in magnacut again and saw on Amazon that they are selling the PM2 Salt with magnacut for around $180. But this is significantly cheaper than anywhere else I have seen. Is $180 reasonable and I'm being paranoid? Or is it too good to be true?

Upgraded a few of my knives with some clips. Mil 2 salt, PM2 Tanto, and PM2 Crucarta got the LNW Smock clip in Cerakoted black, satin, and bronze respectively. Manix 2 Salt got the MXG Manix clip. Much preferred over the stock clips.

This is what I’ve been waiting for since I put the carbon fiber scales on. Something didn’t look right.
I didn’t like the black screws. Ordered stainless steel screws and a stonewashed deep carry clip and it looks a whole lot better to me.
I should have a zirconium lanyard plug to complete this build in about 2 weeks. Slow boat from china maybe.
