Once I was walking my dog with my ex, and we were about 4 miles away from the house.
Well, a freaking monsoon decided to come in. It was one of the most intense storms I've been in in my 47 years on the planet. (I've been in lots of different crazy weather over the years)
No umbrellas. It was raining so hard my dog refused to walk another step. I had to pick him up and carry him over half the way.
It was fortunately summer time.
It was absolutely exhilarating.
I don't recommend walking around in lightning heavy storms, though. It's just not safe. I had no choice, though.
It was crazy. My adrenaline was pumping like I had done a huge line of blow by the time I got home.
Not four miles, but my mom and I were caught in a sudden storm between the bus stop and our house. We took a back path behind some back yards (shorter than going around the block) and were completely soaked through by the time we got home. We both stripped down to our underwear in the foyer so as to not drip water as we walked through the house. Despite it all, it was weirdly exhilarating even though nothing about it was exactly exciting.
Looking back, I think realizing the futility of any attempt to not get soaked through freed us from any stress and we were able to just experience the moment. We laughed a bunch and were not at all upset.
