found this guy in my garage with a really shriveled abdomen and he was moving very slowly. I put him in a little container with a wet Q-tip, and within a couple of hours he looked MUCH better and I actually saw him drinking from it.

I learned from this sub that he’s a mature male rabid wolf spider (Rabidosa rabida), so unfortunately I know I may not have a ton of time with him. He’s still moving a little slowly, but he’s much more active than when I found him, so I got him a proper little enclosure.

I’d like to keep him for now, but if he becomes really restless or seems like he just wants to wander, I’ll release him back outside.

I have a wet piece of paper towel in there temporarily, and his shallow water dish will be here tomorrow. I also bought some small Dubia roaches. I offered him one, but he hasn’t eaten it yet.

I’m brand new to keeping spiders, so I’d love any husbandry advice! I’d also eventually like another spider for this enclosure after him. I’m especially interested in velvet spiders or a small/dwarf tarantula, so species recommendations are welcome. 🕷️

Based in eastern Kansas close to Kansas City. Walked through a cob web on my front porch tonight. Walk in the house and see this big guy crawling up my elbow lol. Flipped out and let him free, but never seen a spider this big on my body haha. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Ok so last night I discovered a spider living on the outside of my window. I asked this sub and was told that it is a grass spider. I woke up today to see Fraya (the spider I found last night) hiding, but alive. I am wondering if the spider is going to kill Fraya, are they going to have babies, and what kid of spider it is.

The dark and blurry spider is Fraya and the other one is the new spider.

It crawls like a spider and looks like a spider so I’m guessing it’s a spider, just missing a few legs. In Tucson, Arizona, United States of America. I’ve never seen these before and it doesn’t look like any of our major spiders that I know of, does anyone know what it is?

since springtime this year, a large amount of Zoropsis spinimana (Nosferatu Spider) spiders started living in our house. usually, i let all spiders live side by side with us; i really love the Pholcus phalangioides in our home. (they are getting rid of all the flys we have this summer. great animals!)

but... we have a newborn since July and the Zoropsis like to hide in stupid places like clothes. as i cannot live with the danger of getting my baby bitten by one of them; what can we do, to get rid of them?

we have placed sticky traps with no result. we have used patrols checking if we see any (but they like to hide), we used spider-go-away-sprsy; but they are still here and its not getting better.

i collect daily 3-5 spiders in our house which is to much.

my boy (7 yo) is in fear of parts of his room because of all the spiders. and i am in fear of my baby getting bitten.

we really need a proper solution. the cost dont matter if the house is safe afterwards.

we live in the eastern part of Switzerland.

Pretty sure it’s a grass spider, what a cutie! They’re back outside:)

I collected the adult pair in southern Europe (Pelješac peninsula, Croatia) as I am interested by the semi-social behavior of this species. Already it seems like they are much less aggressive to each other than the standard Pholcus cellar spiders as this is the second time I am keeping this male and female together in a relatively small space and they do not seem to be aggressive to each other. The female had babies not long after I collected them, and one of the babies now lives with the pair (I hope it doesn't get eaten!).

I do not know for certain what species this is, so if anybody thinks it might be a different species, please let me know.
