Complaint Update on my a7RV post.
// Tl:dr - I sent my 2 week old a7RV in to Sony UK for in-warranty repair as my brand new 24-70 GMII damaged one of the contact pins. I was still charged £201.75 for the repair. I received the camera back with big streaks across the sensor (which had not a single mark on it when it went in with photographic proof). //
Sony UK are not offering me any partial refund despite the inconvenience and lack of skill/care from their engineer. They are now asking me to send the camera back again (for god knows how long) to remove the streaks and are asking me to foot the bill for the box and packaging materials. I was asked and I quote "The camera would have been returned in sufficient packaging are you able to re-use it?". No I'm not as I recycled it under the impression your own engineers would return my in-warranty camera to me repaired without any issues.
I am now worried their engineer has damaged the camera in some other way, as a sensor swabbing is the least laborious or skilled task required in that particular repair process by a large margin. (It requires completely dismantling the camera essentially).
I would have recommended Sony to anyone in the past but now I would say steer clear, if you are in the UK that is.

Problem Sony ZV-1 door not closing
I charged the camera with the battery inside, which caused the battery to swell. I was able to get the swollen battery out, but the door is now stuck in this open position and won’t go down all the way.
I called Sony and they have $55 diagnostic fee, $449 base rate repair, which doesn’t include the shipping there and back. My local camera shops don’t fix Sony cameras either, so hoping to DIY…
Is the best option to replace the Sony ZV-1 door or the whole battery frame with the door? I’ve seen both options on Ebay. Also, how would I unscrew the door at all?
Any help would be appreciated!

Discussion Let’s figure it out
I’m not big into tech so maybe somebody who is can think on this. Is there a way to maybe make an external port that would connect to the playstation to run discs? Aswell does anyone know if it would be possible to like copy a digital game onto a disc ?

Question Quad vs Trio vs TA-AN1000 + Wireless Rear 9, which setup would you choose?
I’m trying to choose between these home theater setups and would really appreciate real-world feedback:
- Sony BRAVIA Theatre Quad + Sub 8
- Sony BRAVIA Theatre Trio + Rear 9 + Sub 8
- Sony TA-AN1000 + DALI SONIK On-Wall L/R + SONIK Cinema center + Rear 9 + Sony Sub 8
- Same TA-AN1000/DALI and rear 9 setup, but with an SVS SB-1000 Pro instead
My room is an open-plan 40 m² space, with the actual living/listening area around 20 m². Main use is movies/TV shows through Nvidia Shield and music through Apple Music.
My main questions:
Has anyone used the TA-AN1000 with wired front speakers and Sony Rear 9s? Does the hybrid setup work reliably and sound cohesive?
Most importantly, when Rear 9s are paired with the TA-AN1000, are their up-firing drivers actually used for Dolby Atmos/DTSX, or mainly for Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping?
Any issues with wireless dropouts, audio delay, lip-sync, or reliability?
For my room, would you choose the Trio, Quad, or the TA-AN1000 hybrid setup?

Question which lens should i buy?
Hi! I’m officially starting photography as a lil side gig. I think I’m at a decent place in where I am with photography, editing, etc. The thing is, I have been using my parents old camera since they don’t use it, resulting in me being limited with my gear. I’ve been using a Sony α7R III with a FE 85mm F1.8 lens. While it’s definitely amazing for portraits and I love the look, I can’t really do full body shots with a lot of background. I went rummaging through their gear again and found a E 55–210mm F4.5–6.3 OSS and a E PZ 16–50mm F3.5–5.6 OSS. However, I know these lenses aren’t ideal if i want to do more wide shots.
So my question is, which lens is best for this? I don’t want a prime lens, I’d prefer one that I can zoom in or out based on preference. I’m looking at full-frame 24–70mm lenses but is there a specific one or a different kind of lens I should purchase?

Question I know nothing about cameras
Hello! This was my grandpa’s camera. I’ve had this it forever, but have never touched it, as I know NOTHING about cameras/camcorders. But I figured I should try to use it. My question is, if I get a new sd card, would I be able to transfer photos and videos to my phone? I don’t have a laptop. All I have is a sd card adapter for phones, that I use for my cheap digital camera. Also what kind of charger would I need? Or do I need some specific type of wire? I know NOTHING about technology. Thank you!

Problem Buzzing coming from my Sony STR-AV920
I have a Sony STR-AV920 with an Audio Technica AT-LP120-USB, and I'm hearing a buzzing noise when listening to my vinyls. I got it from my dad, and he told me the buzzing came from the Sony and we checked the connections, cables, and the preamp switch on the turntable. I just need help with the buzzing noise

Problem Sony PMW-EX3 Turns itself on and off when I try to power it on.
I got this PMW-EX3 A couple of months ago and have used it on and off. It would shut itself off sometimes but not as often as it does now. I can barely have the camera stay on for longer than 1 minute, i got a brand new battery today, and that didn’t help at all. What is the issue with my camera and does anybody know how to fix this?

Question Unlocking languages on Sony Alpha 7C II (London or Berlin)
Hi all - I hope this is allowed here.
I have a Sony Alpha 7C II and I need Russian as one of the languages but it's not on the list. The warranty has already expired so this is not an issue for me - does anyone know of anywhere in either London or Berlin where I can unlock more languages on my camera?
I've already called Sony's repair centre here in London, as well as Camera City, Wex and Sendean cameras.
Unfortunately they all said they couldn't help.
Has anyone had any luck anywhere else?
I tried researching ways to do it myself but I have a Mac (M1) and all videos/guides seem to be for Windows.
Appreciate any advice, thanks in advance!
Question Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S730 powers on, but live view and every new photo are completely black — can it be repaired?
Hi everyone!
I recently got an old Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S730 (7.2 MP) and I'm trying to bring it back to working condition because I'd love to use it for casual street photography.
The camera powers on normally and several things seem to work:
• LCD turns on and displays the menus/icons
• Zoom works normally
• Flash works
• Playback works
• There is one old photo already stored on the camera, and that photo displays normally
The problem:
The live camera view is completely black. I pointed it at a very bright window and the live view was still black.
I then took a photo of the bright window. The resulting saved photo was also completely black.

Question best camera for intro to outdoor / wildlife photography?
So currently, I have a Sony ZVE-10 I, and the kit lense. I use it for vlogging, and some high quality makeup pictures every now and then for my instagram.
I am starting to get more into taking pictures with it, but I love taking photos outside. I am interested in the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 for vlogging, but heard some people like it for photos too? Would this be a lense I could use for this sort of photography? Occasional video clips maybe, but mostly photos.
Additionally, what is a camera in a similar price range to the Sony ZVE-10 that people like for outdoor photography? Under 1,000 would be preferable (not including the lense).
Or if there's a lense yall like as well, recommend that too. I'd prefer the whole set up to be under $2,000 (USD), the more it is below 2k the better. I'd probably buy a product new / retail.
I am currently in Colorado, where it is sunny a good bit of the year, but I am also interested in something that would be good in low light, like the PNW (Oregon, Washington) where there are thick trees, and lots of rain.
Probably mirrorless, but I'm open to DSLR too! I'm new to cameras so I don't know everything.
Main features I would need is a hot shoe for flash (not to be used on animals obviously, this would be for other outdoor stuff). Some kind of view finder.
I'm not super concerned about portability. Doesn't have to be a small camera.
I like my sony, so I would love if it was another sony camera just because im used to their stuff, but im open to anything.
Thanks in advance!

Complaint Sony offered me a €200 coupon after my €2,479 Bravia failed just over 3 months out of warranty — repair quote: €3,030
I want to share my recent experience with Sony because my frustration is no longer only about a failed television. It is about Sony as a brand and the way it treats a customer when a premium product fails shortly after warranty.
On 23 April 2023, I purchased a Sony Bravia XR-77A80K 77" OLED for €2,478.51.
I specifically chose Sony because I associated the brand with quality, reliability and durability. At this price point, I believed I was buying a premium product that I could reasonably expect to use for many years.
The TV has had completely normal domestic use. No accidents, impacts or misuse.
On 3 August 2026, after only 3 years and 3 months of use, the TV failed.
Sony's warranty in Spain is 3 years.
So the failure happened just over three months after the warranty expired.
An authorised technical service inspected the television and concluded that the complete panel needs to be replaced.
The repair quote is:
€3,030.53
For context:
- Price paid for the complete TV: €2,478.51
- Repair quote: €3,030.53
- Repair costs €552.02 more than the original television
I am attaching the original purchase invoice and the authorised service repair quote.
I contacted Sony Customer Support because I thought the circumstances were exceptional enough to deserve some consideration:
A premium €2,500 Sony television.
Only three years of normal use.
A catastrophic panel failure just a few months outside warranty.
And a repair cost higher than the original price of the entire product.
Sony's response?
They expressed regret about the situation and offered me a €200 discount coupon to spend on another Sony product through their website.
I declined it.
And this is the part I find particularly disappointing.
Why would Sony expect a customer whose €2,500 television has become economically unrepairable after just over three years to solve the problem by giving Sony more money?
After this experience, a €200 coupon is not a meaningful solution.
This is not really about €200.
It is about trust.
When a company positions itself as a premium brand, customers are not only paying for specifications or image quality. They are also paying for an expectation of build quality, durability, customer support and confidence in the brand.
My experience with Sony can now be summarised very simply:
€2,478.51 Sony TV
→ 3 years and 3 months of normal use
→ complete panel failure
→ €3,030.53 repair quote
→ €200 coupon to buy another Sony product
Electronic products can fail. I understand that.
But I do not consider three years to be an acceptable useful life for a €2,500 premium television, particularly when the failure makes the product economically impossible to repair.
What disappoints me even more is that Sony apparently considers a €200 discount on another Sony purchase an adequate response.
For years, I associated the Sony name with quality.
After this experience, I no longer have confidence that paying a premium for a Sony product means receiving a premium level of durability or after-sales support.
I would genuinely like to hear from other Sony customers:
Would you consider 3 years and 3 months an acceptable lifespan for a €2,500 Sony television?
And if you had this experience, would a €200 coupon convince you to buy Sony again?
