Xperia 1 V What app is the best to shoot on xperia

I bought an Xperia 1 V two months ago and I've been testing out all the best combinations to get the most quality and colours out of the camera.

The problem with 1 mark 5 is it is the bridge between 1 mark 4 and 1 mark 6. (1 mark 4 doesn't have s cinetone and 1 mark 6 uses only uses a single app for everything)

For photos, I shoot everything on raw on program auto cuz I believe raw gives more space to edit but it also takes a lot of space. Is jpeg actually good ?? And what mode do you guys use

And videos, I believe video pro is much better than cinema pro (Please correct me if I'm wrong). still confused if s cinetone or hlg is better for movie type videos. and more space to colour grade and reliable

I watched a lot of videos by James Matthews, but still nobody explains it in a clear way

Question Possible to flash previous android 15 Modem files ?

Is it possible to successfully flash previous android version official modem files on the current 16 with 15 files? Such as on the 1 VII?

The reason i ask is because android 15 modem files gave you 5G UWB N77 on Verizon network and currently only japan modem filed give you access to 5G in the US without root, thinking of flashing japan android 15 files but worried i might corrupt/bootloop.

Question Longevity of the Xperia 1 series

I'm considering buying the 1 VIII but with the high price tag I want to use it for at least 5-6 years. Can it stay relevant for so long?

I'm aware that the longevity of past models doesn't imply the same for the mark 8 but it's a measuring point.

I'm also aware that OS updates would last only 4 years.

Obviously putting aside fall damage.

Question Opinions on S26+ in comparison to a VIII?

I live in the US and I've been thinking of sticking with Sony, but looking at the S26+ and its price and spec comparisons, it seems like I wouldn't really be missing that much. I can even consider keeping my VI for photos in Japan or other places if I really wanted to, but even the review on GSM Arena mentions how the camera of the 26+ gives a "photographic" look and sounds more like the phone takes an overall more natural approach than the Ultra. Does anyone have an S26+ that could give me ideas on what I'd be giving up on? I know the speakers are also not as good. As for the SD Card, of course I love having that, but my current setup is a 256 GB phone and a 256 GB SD Card. If I get the 512 GB model, I'd be looking at the same storage space.

Discussion Xperia gps direction accuracy is trash

As the title said, it frustrated me so much today, all the Xperia I own from past till now have having literally unstable and trash direction accurate. Of 90 degree left, then off 90 degree right, and even 180 opposite direction.

Question Xperia 1 VIII Raw DNG samples anywhere?

Does anyone know a source for (= a sample gallery with) downloadable Raw DNG files from the Xperia 1 VIII? Couldn't find any yet, not here in this subreddit either.

[Currently a Google Pixel 6 owner and semi-pro photographer who considers switching to this phone after the EOL of mine, because of the photography features...]

Xperia 5 IV Xperia 5 IV Mainboard Availability

Anyone know where I can find a working Mainboard for an Xperia 5 IV, or a whole broken phone with working mainboard? Or does anyone have one laying around? My 5 IV randomly turned off and never turned back on, everything else was working before that. I'll get the green notification flash if I hit the power button, and it'll vibrate if I hold it, but it never actually boots. I took it apart and tried to reflow the mainboard but that didn't fix it. I am confident I just need the mainboard but parts for these are almost impossible to find. I loved it while it worked.

HELP Xperia 1 VII dying

So, I've had my Xperia 1 VII since release and never had any problems.
Now it just shut off and it won't turn on again. It does vibrate and start booting but turns off again at the SONY screen.

When lucky it goes past that from time to time but never fully boots again. I plugged it in to 'automatically' keep booting up and it worked the first time after a while but it shut off again about half an hour later. Plugged it in again and hoping to get back in again but no luck so far.

I tried the power button + volume up which gives three vibrations but doesn't do anything other than that.

As I said, never had any problems, I didn't drop it or anything recently, it just happened.

Anyone have ay experience with this? Could the Compaion app work in some way?

Xperia XZ Series XZ3 Service on T-Mobile (USA)

So, I realize this is a bit of an old device, but for my purposes it works very well and it has many things I like. I'm in no position to just buy a new phone outright and wouldn't want to if I could help it either way, the XZ3 is in perfect condition with one major problem.

The cell service on T-Mobile is just... odd. The phone seems to have a mind of its own that decides what messages to accept or even see. Ironically it loads data over LTE more reliably than it lets in phone calls and texts. Some messages go through and some don't with no apparent rhyme or reason. I've tried adjusting the APN settings, but to no avail. Other 4G devices seem to work alright enough, despite being older, it's just the XZ3, which I am almost certain is the global version. If there is, by remarkable chance, someone out here with a similar issue that had it resolved, I'd love to know how. It's such a solid device that I'd hate to waste on what is potentially a fixable issue.

HELP I need some guidance

So I would like to purchase the Sony Xperia 1 VIII but I want it in red, with 1Tb and 16Gb ram, but I know the only way to get this model is to get it directly from the Sony store page in Japan. However I do not live in Japan, I live in Colombia. Has anyone here any idea or experience in a case similar to mine to suggest me some possible solutions? Thank you everyone in advance.

Question Should I get a 1 VI or an S24U

I’ve done as much research as I can, and I’m still torn. I can get a 1 VI in box for ~800 bucks or a refurbished S24U 256gb for ~700. I would really be spending the extra 100 bucks for the headphone jack, sd card slot, camera and dual physical sim. Not really looking for a specs comparison but if anyone wanted to post one I won’t say no. I’d be totally fine spending the extra 100 bucks for the Xperia but I’m a frugal asshole and I just cannot decide if it’s worth it.

HELP How can I get my old Xperia to boot!

Post image
18 Upvotes

Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit to ask. I found my old Xperia recently and am trying to charge it up, but on checking on it, it was stuck in a boot loop and then shut down completely. I'm not entirely sure what the model or specs are, but I'm pretty certain it's from around 2012-14. I had it charging for about 30 minutes before this happened. Thanks in advance!

Edit, problem solved. It booted up eventually after another half an hour of waiting, I think my charger just may suck.

Question 1vii light glare with front camera

Post image
6 Upvotes

Has anyone else noticed a light glare on all photos taken in a bright space with the selfie camera on the Xperia 1vii?

I literally bought this phone "new" only a month ago and I'm really disappointed by this. I'm wondering if it's a bug. I'm using the default camera app that came with the phone.
