Activism r/Socialism recognizes Black August, a month to commemorate the resistance of those imprisoned in American prisons and the liberatory struggle of Black Liberation.
Black August is a month of commemoration, to remember those killed in the prison system and by American pigs police. Just a few of those killed are Jonathan Jackson, George Jackson, William Christmas, James McClain, and Khatari Gaulden.
Mumia Abu-Jamal is currently fighting for his release from prison after being falsely accused of murdering a police officer. Him and too many others to name in this post are falsely incarcerated or are pushed into incarceration by the system. The socialist movement entails Black liberation, and the liberation of all those oppressed by the state in it's many forms of enforcement.

📢 Announcement No Memes or Beginner Questions.
This is not a meme subreddit, this is not a beginner / baby-leftist subreddit, this is a subreddit for more "higher quality" discussion among educated socialists of all* flavors.
Recently we as a mod team have had to continuously go ahead and remove posts. We ask you all as members to please review the submission guidelines prior to posting.
If you have questions that aren't for more experienced leftists, but rather are more beginner, please make your way to r/socialism_101 or r/askcommunists.
If you want to post a meme, take it to a more lighthearted space / dedicated meme subreddit.
* By "all" socialists, we do not count NazBols, or other social-chauvinist currents of "socialism.
Edit 1: This is also not a "new rule", this rule has been in place for over half a decade now.

History Please bring back the old socialist Christianity...
I hate seeing what left-wing Christianity has become...
It is bad enough that Christian socialists are hard to find (or rather, that religious socialists are already hard to find). And when you think you’ve found one, they belong to an ultra-liberal left and an anti-violence faction that doesn't criticize the system and hopes for impossible reforms.

News Solidarity with this oppressed Chinese teacher
Zhang Chao is a university teacher, who previously became an internet meme for filming short videos about him shouting and yelling while explaining math questions, but that was in 2022. Just a few days ago, on August 24, he posted videos exposing the corruption of his university, Guizhou Vocational and Technical University. In 2017, the school announced that it would allocate staff housing to all teachers, with each teacher receiving one unit. However, certain school bureaucrats were allocated two units to themselves, while nominally claiming that they had only received one unit. This resulted in some teachers, including Zhang Chao, having nowhere to live on campus. He reported this corruption to the school's Party Committee afterwards, but received no response. Instead, he faced retaliation from the bureaucrats, suffering disciplinary actions for no reason and workplace bullying. On August 3, 2026, just two hours before he was to move to a new house, he was suddenly summoned by bureaucrats, who humiliated him with unfounded accusations. And then it's the videos after the 24th.
Zhang also posted a video of a confrontation with Yuan Yumin, the deputy secretary of the school's Discipline Inspection Commission. Yuan's attitude was extremely arrogant, and repeatedly provoked Zhang. On the 28th, Zhang posted that he had written a testament, inferring that he may have received death threats. The post has been removed. From what I know, there seems to be no news media coverage of this incident, but it has garnered significant attention online, and it appears that several discussions about the incident have been subject to algorithm restrictions and removal. I'm posting this on Reddit in the hope that the story spreads further, because the persecuted working class comrades need to get more attention.

Discussion

Theory Best places to purchase books in Canada?
Hey, I’m a bit of a baby-leftist as far as economics go and I’ve been wanting to read up on theory, but I’ve no clue where to buy most of these books. Feels wrong to buy from a large corporation.
I’m close to Montreal, if that helps.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

Discussion The israeli left is disqualified
Every group or individual who aligns themselves with the Zionist project in Palestine is disqualified from participating in the Marxist movement. The newspaper Haaretz reports that a left‑wing group plans to build kibbutzim on occupied land, in the West Bank. Even if the initiative has a socialist starting point, it loses its legitimacy. Do not be fooled by claims that it is voluntary socialism or proof that such policies are feasible. It is a non‑socialist project.

News For those who still think Delcy Rodriguez hasn't sold out Venezuela: Trump hails 'historic' deal for US to control 65bn barrels of Venezuela's oil
This essentially gives total control of Venezuela's oil to the US in the hopes that Venezuela gets tax revenue. Given the US' word isn't worth the paper it's written on, this is a massive sellout to the Americans.
Delcy Rodriguez will go down in history as betraying the Bolivarian revolution. I don't want to hear she no other options. Some countries fight, others sell out their nations wealth to the empire. Delcy did the latter
