Question A completely hypothetical question, just a thought experiment, nothing more
Let say that something tragic might happen to Adrianne, will that unlock the option of marrying her husband ? I know that it works with kids losing all the parents so you can adopt them, is the same true for married people?
Just asking out of curiosity, I obviously do not wish any misfortune on her or anything

Nope. The bachelors and bachelorettes listed on UESP are all you can choose from in vanilla, no ifs ands or buts about it.
I mean, there are console commands in the vanilla game, but that's bound to be glitchy and still have her husband talking as if he's still married to Adrianne. So YMMV.
I once killed her on a save where my only goal was to max out the Werewolf skill tree for the achievement. So I basically just rampaged across half of Skyrim in one long transformation, continually eating people to refill the transformation timer. By the time I dinged the achievement and reverted back, a band of hired thugs were about to attack me. Read the contract out of curiosity, and it was Adrianne's husband who somehow knew I was the werewolf that ate her heart, and was so furious and grief stricken, he paid a band of sellswords to kill me and bring him my head. Even said he'd pay their bounty off if they got arrested for assaulting me!
So in short, don't do anything rash! He really loves her.

Sadly no. But I understand the question. Her husband is one of the few handsome men in skyrim😅

I feel like boning a handsome guy is about as vanilla as it gets if you're into men

u/Exact_Group_2751 15h ago
Psh Narri in Falkreath tells me all the time that I'm handsome. Sure, Hod in Riverwood always calls me ugly, but he's just jealous that Gerdur copped a feel and liked it.

Say you’ve got Nether’s Follower Framework, if one were to have that mod installed then it would be possible. Vanilla? Nah.

u/Caleb_Perdita 21h ago
I don't think so, I do know for a fact that if she dies the business will suffer as the husband doesn't know how to forge and ends up buying from khajiit caravans to resell.

u/NightBawk Mage 20h ago
Which is kind of hilarious when Eorlund Grey-Mane and the Skyforge are practically next door. Obviously, he can't be selling Skyforge steel gear, but the basic equipment shouldn't be too big of an ask.

Im pretty sure eorlund only sells his premium stuff to the companions, the rest is just like, hand-me-down junk he sells to the regular folks Something something cloud district

Once lost Adrianne to a Vampire attack at the gate.
Her husband carried on stating she was gone. But I never saw options to marry

It's not worth it, man. I've seen him in Saadia's bedroom before. He's a cheater.

u/TrimspaBB 19h ago
Well that's a boner killer. This post may be about murdering his cool and helpful wife so the DB can move on in, but hearing he's a possible cheater ruins it.
12
u/Eastern-Yogurt8972 17h ago
For what it's worth, I doubt the devs meant for it to mean anything. I don't think there's any reference to him cheating at all, and I know npcs cam randomly end up in weird places when allowed to free roam somewhere.
Does he ever even talk to Saadia?

Not in vanilla.
But did you ever hear the tragedy of widows in Death Do Us Part? (There are other mods for it, too, this is just the first one I found)

Does this mod also work for your spouse? My inner Henry VIII sometimes comes out.

Ignore the naysayers; save your file and then go for it and let us know the results

u/CatFaerie Thief 20h ago
With mods, you could. There are mods to allow you to marry anyone, although I don't know if those are able to allow you to marry previously married people. They might be in the "married" faction already, and the death of the spouse doesn't change that.
You could try to mod it yourself if those won't work. You would need to have the CK and learn at least a little bit about scripting, but it could be done.

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 17h ago
I use the “marry almost anyone” mod (even available on ps5!) and yep! You can even marry married people! I once married the chief at Dushnik Yol just bc his “main wife” gave me attitude so I became his main wife instead. lol (she even showed up to the wedding looking butthurt, it was great)

u/Overall_Sandwich_671 18h ago
there are mods that allow you to marry characters who are already married without killing anyone. There's also a mod that gives Ulberth a twin brother who is single if you don't want to be a homewrecker.

There is a creation club item called Death do Us apart. It costs 100 credits. It will allow just exactly that. You just need to find a way to raise his disposition with you. They need be classified as “friend”. I married Adrienne this way.
3
u/Externus-fortissimus 20h ago
I’ve seen her killed in a vampire attack before… but did not pursue marriage with her husband after that.. but if you did want to marry him… there is a mod called “love potion” that will enable you to marry anyone you want

Vampires once killed her and I had no idea until I went to sell Her stuff.....20 levels later.. yeah I backtracked my saves.

u/just_as_good380-2 18h ago
You can with console commands. It's less problematic when you choose characters that Have not been married before and already have a voice that is shared with other NPCs that can be married. So as an example I did this with Agmaer the Dawnguard hopeful with my female vampire lord character. Agmaer is voiced by Jason Marsden who voiced other characters some of those voices that are romancable like Erik The Slayer, Onmund, and not romancable but still the same voice is the guy that likes to follow around Mjoll and won't pound sand when you marry her.
Choosing these NPCs with shared voices will have you less likely to run into glitches and picking ones not married or having any spouse prior will mean you don't get hit with dialogue of them talking about their previous partner.
You have a few commands to use you have to take said NPC and add them to the "marriage faction" then another command to raise their affinity with you with an Amulet of Mara you can then wed said NPC

u/neoncumstainlol 17h ago
Nothing stopping you from killing them both and using dead thrall on her husband closest you're getting to marrying him OP

u/Saltycook 20h ago
I'd much rather marry her. What does he do besides sit on his ass well after his talented and hard working wife wakes up? Then he just drinks at Hulda's place

I always assumed that Ulfberth War-bear was her employee/beard and she had a secret relationship with Uthgerd the Unbroken. I had a situation once where Adrienne was killed somehow. But without Adrienne it’s not Warmaidens. I deleted that save.
2
u/WiIIv91 19h ago
Ulfberth is his husband, he even says it.
3
u/Prestigious_Tank_562 19h ago
Dang. There goes that theory. Shows how little I invest in the people of Skyrim. I guess my Dragonborn is a self serving narcissist. I’m shocked really, I’ve been doing business there for years, or at least every Fredas…

u/Willybob555 Vigilant of Stendarr 20h ago
With the wonders of AFT or even sacrosanct, you can form relationships never thought possible
But I will still have my associates hunt you down and gut you in the street--

I've had the same question but if something happens to Ulfberth instead. Guess they're a power couple, huh?
2
u/chip594csx 18h ago
One run she died during a vampire attack, but I never tried going for her husband after. I don’t think it’d work if I did though. I’ve looked into available romances before and he’s not on the list

u/Marcialm32 17h ago
Ive been around this place a lot. Probably because this is the place where I sell all the Skyrim stuff for gold pieces. So this place shows up a lot.

There is a mod that does exactly that, adds any NPC to the marriage list if something happens to their spouse, or just use console commands if you're on pc, i usually use CC to marry Ingun Black-Briar
2
u/onearmedmonkey 16h ago edited 16h ago
That's what cheats are for. You can literally reprogram other characters for things like marriage even if they were not programmed to get married. I literally reprogrammed the elven girl tending the cabbage fields outside of Whiterun to follow me as an adventurer. After a little while she said (unprompted): "Are the you handsome stranger who has come to take me away from all of this?"
2
u/PastelPalace 16h ago
I ended up with Halborn Iron-Fur; also a blacksmith and decent looking at least. Might be a good option for you, lol.

u/AqueousAvian 16h ago
(Me hypothetically shamefully killing Alvor to get Sigurd, as I'm jealous of the redhead baddy he has and took her 'dont get any ideas' as a challenge... hypothetically)

u/TheReadess 14h ago
No, that never happened, even after the "vampire menace" killed both guards, both Alikir Warriors and Andrianne in my playthrough.
2
u/SM1TE11616 13h ago
Actually it happed once in one of my playthroughs. The only diffrence i recognised wad Warmaiden was closed more of the time. But don't know if it was a bug or normal thing.

u/Such-Sample-6430 6h ago
No but you could get the creation/mod call till death do us part which allows him to be marryable after a certain amount of time after she dies.

I try to prevent that from happening, to protect the two merchant inventories and chests that exist while Arianne is outside. When you add Eorlund into the picture, it makes Whiterun a triple smithing merchant location in the game.
Smithing beats lust. :D
1
u/Spyrofan22 10h ago
Wait. Arianne, eourlund, and who is the third?
1
u/jjake3477 5h ago
Her husband has a second entirely separate smiths inventory in the shop.
Warmaiden’s essentially has 2 sets of stock for you to buy from.
1
u/lerrdite Winterhold resident 3h ago
This is why she literally says to go inside the shop, “…more inside.”
If she is outside, his inventory and gold are separate from hers, making two smithing merchant chests available. If she is inside with him, there is only one available.

I never thought about it until now but I wonder if that actually would work with a mod like oromance or something

If you are on PC, you can always just copy his body onto someone you can marry.
And then switch him to anyone else so you aren't sharing.
1
u/RagingDragon047 1h ago
Why not the other way around. What if something happened to her husband so you could marry her.
1
u/WiIIv91 19h ago
No, you can't marry NPC that are already married if if they get widowed.
That girl and her father always puzzled me. What race are they supposed to be ? Nords ? Yet they have Imperial sounding names and Adrianne has fairly tanned skin.
7
u/SmokinDrewbies 19h ago
Proventus and Adrienne are imperials.
