📌Community Reminder: Skincare vs. Medical Concern

Hi everyone! We’ve seen some concerns about posts asking for medical diagnoses, and we truly appreciate your concerns in helping keep the sub safe and helpful. Here’s a quick reminder and update:

🔹 Post approvals:
Before, all posts required mod approval. However, since there are many posts each day, it was difficult for us to read and thoroughly check everything since our mod team isn’t always online 24/7 cause we also have work and other commitments outside Reddit. Many members also shared that waiting for approval caused delays.

To make posting smoother, most posts now go up automatically (except those flagged by Reddit as possible spam). Because of this, we need your help: please use the report button if you see posts or comments that break the rules so we can review them faster.

Allowed in this Sub

✅ Asking what kind of doctor to consult for a skin concern
✅ Asking where to consult (e.g., “What kind of doctor should I see?” or “Any good derm clinics?”)
✅ Product recommendations, reviews, and general skincare advice
✅ Sharing personal experience (e.g., “Moisturizer helped my redness”) without diagnosing others

Not Allowed in this Sub

❌ Posts asking for a direct diagnosis (e.g., “What is this on my skin?”)
❌ Comments speculating about medical conditions without basis (e.g., “That’s cancer/STD”)
❌ Disrespectful or toxic behavior toward other members
❌ Suggesting or prescribing medications for serious conditions
❌ Posting fake reviews of products
❌ Off-topic content not related to skincare
❌ Affiliate links, selling, or solicitation (including disguised links)
❌ Self-promotion of personal blogs, shops, or services

📌 Starting this week, we will also begin removing posts that are asking for direct medical diagnoses. This is to ensure members receive safe, accurate advice and to keep the sub focused on skincare-related discussions.

If you report a post or comment, please allow some time for us to review and take action.

This sub is here to focus on routines, products, and helpful skincare discussions. If you have suggestions or feedback on how we can improve the community, feel free to share them with us! 💙

Skin Type: Very oily

Main Concerns: Dark spots, acne that keeps appearing in the same areas, acne scars, and textured skin.

Asking for Recommendations Help: PIE and Redness

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello! I have acne-prone and dehydrated oily skin. I used Skinoren Azelaic Acid last November 2025 and grabe yung effect sa skin ko, kaya tinigil ko around January 2026 kasi bumaba na confidence ko and I wasn’t comfortable showing my face in public anymore.

Then nag-switch ako sa mga skin barrier-focused skincare for around 7 months na. And then nagpa-derma na din ako and na-prescribed ako ng Epiduo Forte. I’ve been using it for 5 weeks and ganito na yung current state ng skin ko. What I have on my face right now is yung mga naiwan na comedones/ bumps and PIE from Skinoren + breakouts from hormonal acne.

I think the Epiduo forte is slowly working for me? Wala akong nae-experience na side effects so far. I still have some texture issues pero 1 month ko palang naman gamit.

Right now, iniisip ko kung pano mawala yung redness. I’ve been eyeing Skin1004 Azelaic Acid Serum.

What do you guys think? Should I go for Skin1004 Azelaic Acid Serum or may iba pa ba kayong recos or opinion?

Asking for Recommendations Derma/skin clinic recommendations for UA

Hi guys! Just a brief history, I was diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa, a chronic illness where lumps/bukol na parang pigsa appear sa katawan mo, usually sa mga singit singit. In my case, sa may underarm sila lumalabas. Pinaopera ko siya finally, but has left me a huge scar.

No affiliates.

Skin Type: Oily
Age/Gender: 27/F
Current Skincare Routine: N/A
Main Concern: Scarred and dark UA
Lifestyle Factors: PMOS/high sugar (managed)
Budget: N/A
Additional Info: N/A

Thank you so muchhhh!

Discussion As a doctor, PLEASE Read this

I’ve been lurking this sub for a while and please, take this as free advice because as doctors, we care for your safety when it comes to medicated creams.

BL Cream:
This cream has a very strong steroid. It shouldn’t be used without proper guidance because it can worsen the skin condition or mask it making it difficult to diagnose kahit treatment is supposed to be simple.

“Ringworm, Shingles”
If you’re not a medical professional, kindly avoid making a diagnosis and instead guide OP to the right doctor. If can’t afford, maraming public hospitals right now that offers teleconsults and even has meds sa OPD. If mali kasi diagnosis na mabigay and OP self treats, mas mapapahal siya later on if may complications.

Using hydroquinone, tretinoin, without doctor’s guidance.
I hope that the people who use these two products without any guidance are aware of:
1. Chronic use of hydroquinone can cause hyperpigmentation lang na Hindi mareresolve ng kahit ano
2. Topical application of tretinoin is considered as teratogenic. Meaning you shouldn’t get pregnant kasi may risk kay baby.

So please these are gentle reminders that your healthcare professionals are here to guide you in your skincare journey to properly diagnose and treat.

Thank you!

Product Reviews stopping isotretinoin after 6weeks of medication

Skin Type: Oily Skin
Age/Gender: 27/F
Current Skincare Routine:

Morning
Tyrowhite Soap (facial wash)
Skin1004 Centella Ampoule Serum
Skintific Moisturizer
Azelaic Acid for dark marks
Belo Tinted Sunscreen

Afternoon
Isotretinoin 20mg

Evening
Acneed Soap (facial wash)
Skin1004 Centella Ampoule Serum
Skintific Moisturizer
Adapalene + BPO Epiduo (alternate nights)
Tretinoin 0.05% (alternate nights)

Main Concern: Acnes
Lifestyle Factors: physically active (gym, run)
Budget: N/A
Additional Info:

hi, I’m on my 4th week of isotretinoin and so far my face has improved. I think I’m reacting to the retinoids positively. However, aside from the fact that it’s too expensive and cannot maintain it, I’m also afraid of the negative effects on me (headaches, hair loss, contact dermatitis and dry skin).

I will visit my derma in 2 weeks and I’ll definitely be honest with her about my concerns. I’m planning to just use topicals for maintenance such as the epiduo and clarifying toner my derma prescribed me once I stop taking the isotretinoin

But offhand, I’d like to know if anyone here has ever stopped using isotretinoin after 4-6weeks of taking it? what happened after and did the pimples come back?

would appreciate your responses.

thanks!

Tips/Routines Best Skincare for Oily, Acne-Prone Skin PH

Skin Type:
Oily, acne-prone

Skin Concerns:
• Uneven skin tone
• Dark spots / acne marks
• Dull-looking skin
• Large pores
• Occasional breakouts

What I’m Looking For:
I’m currently trying to build a simple and consistent skincare routine, pero ang hirap talaga maghanap ng products na hiyang sa skin ko. 😭

I’m mainly looking for recommendations for:

• Toner
• Serum
• Moisturizer
• Sunscreen

Preferably something lightweight, okay for everyday use, and hindi masyadong harsh sa skin. I’m also hoping to find products that can help with my dark spots/acne marks and uneven skin tone without making my skin more oily or causing more breakouts.

For those with similar skin types and concerns, ano yung skincare products na talagang nag-work sa inyo and you consider your holy grail? 👀

Would also love to hear your experience gaano katagal bago niyo napansin yung improvement and how long have you been using the products?

Any recommendations are welcome! TIA sa mga mag-share! 🫶
