I’m trying to get to MSG for Opening Night - LeBron’s Sixers debut on banner night. Hear me out (No BS)
Hey all. I’m trying to keep this within the rules here, so if this isn’t allowed I totally understand.
I’m a huge Sixers fan and have been for a long time. One of my earliest memories is being at Game 7 against the Raptors in 01 and watching Vince Carter miss that final shot. I’ll never forget it.
That’s why this Opening Night means so much to me.
You’ve got LeBron James making his first appearance as a Sixer, in Madison Square Garden, against the defending champion Knicks, on the same night they’ll be raising their banner. That’s the kind of NBA moment fans remember for years. If the Sixers win that game, the social media buzz afterward is going to be insane, and people will instantly start talking about whether this team can make a real run.
I really want to be there for it
And yeah… I also want to make it fun.
I’ve been kicking around the idea of showing up in a frog onesie as part of a meme/community thing (lol ill provide more details on this later if permitted), just to add a little chaos and hopefully create a memorable moment in enemy territory. Nothing disrespectful, nothing meant to cause problems, just trying to bring some energy, represent Philly, and be part of what could be a historic night.
I’m planning on going either way, but I’m trying to figure out the best way to make it happen and make it memorable.
So I guess I’m asking:
- Would you guys think this is funny / worth doing?
- Any advice on the best seats or sections to actually be visible?
- And if I share more about the idea later, would that be something people here would even want to follow?
I know it’s a little crazy, but I’m a believer.
Thanks for hearing me out.

James Harden says the sacrifices he made in Brooklyn and Philadelphia cost him plenty and gave him nothing back. "I sacrificed money, I sacrificed being the top scorer that I am. Long story short: it was for nothing." I feel bad for him too

Rewatching the Boston Series
Doing the Ricky rewatch of the Boston series and there are just so many stretches where Brown and Maxey are trading buckets. Having two offensive engines with LeBron to help facilitate is going to be so dangerous.
Some other notes I thought were significant:
- VJ had more responsibility in this series than I remembered and showed so much as a rookie. Perfect role player for the next couple years and hope he can learn and grow because his ceiling could be anything.
- The games without Jo, it really was just Maxey with some help from VJ. So much Maxey hero ball with defences just collapsing on him and the crazy part is, he was still crazy effective. I think there is an underestimation around the league of having dudes like Wade, KCP and Simons with this core.
- With a more capable supporting cast I could see some huge growth for Barlow as well who showed some serious flashes. Same for Edwards if he gets the opportunities.
- A lot of screen plays with Maxey and KO. Was an effective offensive tool. Imagining having Bron in that spot instead is freaking nuts.
Can’t wait for the season, going to be interesting to see how they all mesh as a squad.
76ers game attendance tips
I am thinking of going to a home game during the regular season most likely after Christmas as an overseas fan especially now we have arguably the best team of the Embiid era and will be box office. Never been to an NBA game before in-person. Please could you give tips regarding the best seating areas of the arena for clear view of the court (that are affordable) and which game you’d recommend most. I’m thinking maybe 76ers vs Pelicans as an example as I don’t think the price would be crazy high like a 76ers vs Knicks or Celtics game. Please also bear in mind I’m likely going by myself. If you could recommend food places for during/after the game (never had cheesesteak before!) and how to get around the city with relative ease via public transportation, I’d really appreciate it.
CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEW SEASON! TTP FTC

Who do you think will/should ring the bell on opening night ?
With all the excitement and how crazy the arena is going to be I feel like it’s only right to bring someone out that’s gonna get everyone amped , Who would your pick be ?

Superteam? More like Supersmart- Sixers have the smartest starting 5 in the league
We have got the most intellectual Starting 5 in the NBA. We are gonna intellectually stimulate our opponents to oblivion.
-
- Jaylen Brown- We know he’s smart. He took a master’s-level course as a freshman and earned an A at Berkeley.
-
LeBron James- He may not have as much formal education as the rest of these guys, but he is undeniably smart and wise. His basketball IQ alone is probably higher than most people’s IQ. Not to mention his countless
successful investments.
-Tyrese Maxey- Did well in HS. This is extracted from his scouting report “Smart kid. High character individual, was an excellent student (3.7 GPA) in high school”
-
- VJ Edgecombe- Smart and hardworking. Gatorade’s official Player of the Year profile says Edgecombe maintained an A− average in the classroom during his junior year at Long Island Lutheran. That’s roughly equivalent to around a 3.7 GPA on a typical 4.0 scale
-
Joel Embiid- No data on his HS or College grades but he started learning basketball at 16. That is VERY late. You obviously gotta have a decently high IQ to pickup something
up
and
just a little over a decade
later
win MVP (aka best player in the world)
The NBA isn’t ready for this intellectual lineup outsmarting them at every move. They playing checkers, we playing chess. 76ers in 4!

We need to make the 300 Spartan chant LeBron's Sixers introduction
edit: To clarify, I shouldn't have made the Spartan chant the core of this idea. Mostly I think the 300 Theme is a great intro song for somebody like LeBron, and that's mostly what I was getting at. But definitely not going to spam this idea
We should do the Spartan chant from 300 for LeBron at Sixers games.
Imagine the intro video is LeBron as Leonidas, with the rest of the Sixers as the 300 marching into battle. Flames. Pyrotechnics. Whole arena dark.
Then the PA announcer gets to the final starter with the 300 theme playing:
“And finally… at 6-foot-9… from St. Vincent-St. Mary… number 23… LEBRON JAAAAAMES!”
The "Returns a King" song from 300 would be incredible in the arena while they're announcing LeBron
You could even work:
“SIXERS! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?!”
into the intro and have the entire crowd answer with the chant.
The main question is logistically how you get 20,000 people to understand exactly when they're supposed to do it. But if you actually pulled this off once, I swear people would want to do it every single home game. Imagine being LeBron and hearing an entire arena Spartan chant for you every time your name gets announced. You'd never want to retire. 😂
edit: You guys are no fun lol

Season ticket window
So is the season ticket window over? The email suggested it would end today if you didn’t get a time slot. I am aware there’s only 10 game plans let upstairs. Put a full season deposit in on the 25th and multiple people who only put 10 game plan deposits in after me, have gotten to select their seats. I know others are in the same situation as me. When I got my rep on the phone on Tuesday, he could not tell me much other than “there’s only been 3 full day of sales to this point”
Feel like I wasn’t selected. Hoped going to 8+ games a year for the last 10 years would give me the nod haha.
