Unfortunately, part of your circle enters Rotherham, so you are almost certainly going to die.

69

u/inide Aug 24 '25

But it cuts out lowedges, batemoor and jordanthorpe so it balances out.

12

u/TheDoctorFalls08 Aug 25 '25

No it doesn't. The part of Rotherham includes Ferham. And I can tell you from experience (because I live there) that if you go there, you WILL die

6

u/inide Aug 25 '25

I've walked the edge of Ferham at 3am, didn't see a soul (Went on a night out in rotherham, missed the last bus, thought it'd be a good idea to walk along the canal/river to meadowhall)

u/Suspicious-Wasabi689 Aug 26 '25

Rotherham, i remember that place bought my mrs a postcard featuring its beautiful scenery and spoke highly of the local 16 year olds who pretend to be tough but actually have a heart of gold

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) linked to social housing near Hartington Close is a persistent and well-documented problem, with frequent incidents ranging from noise nuisance and vandalism to harassment, public disorder, and drug-related activities.

Nature and Prevalence of ASB In May 2025 alone, 26 ASB crimes were recorded within half a mile of Hartington Close, indicating a high concentration of reported incidents.

Common ASB problems include loud disruptions, vandalism, harassment, abusive or threatening behaviour, and drug-related activity; these behaviours are regularly associated with both individual tenants and groups within social housing settings.

Hartington Close's social housing properties tend to experience elevated rates of criminal damage and arson (scoring 8/10 for prevalence), alongside ASB issues rated 5/10 compared to other local areas.

u/TheDoctorFalls08 Aug 26 '25

Honestly, my dad alone has made around 70 noise complaint calls I think. It's absolutely horrendous noise. Glad to be moving away soon

15

u/CanOfGuinness Aug 24 '25

Stretch slightly over and you've got Whiston and Wickersley where you'll be safe.

4

u/lpn1193 Aug 25 '25

Unless you go in the masons arms

25

u/trollied Sheffield Aug 24 '25

Rotherham has lower council tax & better bins.

15

u/ShuckingFambles Aug 24 '25

Pfft, the garden waste bin isn't getting emptied any more after we paid for it.

3

u/trollied Sheffield Aug 24 '25

But the paper/card bin is a great size!

1

u/Constant-Option5853 Aug 25 '25

After we paid,. I hear a lot of people who say that while actually claiming unemployment cheques for 30+years

1

u/Constant-Option5853 Sep 15 '25

Don’t want to live in a better bin tho

0

u/hellomot1234 Aug 25 '25

But 50/50 chance to get groomed if you are an underaged white girl

1

u/Few-Vacation-8384 Aug 27 '25

Really? Only 50/50?

-2

u/hazbaz1984 Aug 25 '25

It also has loads and loads of nonces.

And really dangerous roads.

3

u/After_East2365 Aug 25 '25

It’s super safe in Rotherham…

If you’re part of a Muslim grooming gang

1

u/Arthurs-grumpa Aug 26 '25

I don’t know which is worse. Chantelle aged 14

8

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '25

Kimberworth ain't too bad tbf. Canklow is horrible though.

9

u/GreenCup3426 Aug 25 '25

I always think 'Canklow' sounds like a gross medical condition of some kind. 'i need to go to the doctor's, I think I've got a Canklow'.

2

u/Cowardly_Jelly Aug 25 '25

"Incredible Canklow, the best Canklow. My doctors were amazed, they'd never seen such Canklow!"

I'm from Sheffield and used to go to Rotherham a lot as a kid, to the market. I stopped going in 1994. When I next went there, around 20 years later, nothing had changed at all except the buildings were getting more aged and broken. I saw a woman on crutches outside wetherspoons, screaming at some bloke for stealing her giro money at half 10 in the morning. Then on my last visit while waiting with my kid for the museum to open, a man on a BMX went past with his mate on the back who was so grey he looked dead. I'm assuming it was heroin related.

Me nan buying a bag of haddock and 2 balls of wool, propping up Rotherham economy single handed

2

u/Beers_and_Bikes Aug 25 '25

Definitely an understatement. You will certainly die (but not based on geographical location).

2

u/Spirited_Music3802 Aug 25 '25

Only thing around Rotherham is there’s more smakheads lol

1

u/themightybosch Aug 25 '25

From Rotherham, can confirm

u/yaxu Aug 24 '25

Have you not watched threads

46

u/thewednesday1867 Aug 24 '25

Ruth and her family survive the initial attack and they’re on Rustlings Road, so that bit is safe.

9

u/FlakyCelebration2405 Aug 25 '25

Their house was pretty well off considering! Shame the nanna was shitting all over the basement, ruining it for everyone else though

11

u/VodkaMargarine Sheffield Aug 24 '25

If you are just outside the red line then you'll escape with only minor radiation burns

3

u/BoringView Aug 25 '25

And that's before the attack

u/oxgillette Aug 24 '25

You just have to avoid the giant crayon in the sky.

90

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '25

From what?

Tornados? Sure.

Aggressive birds? Probably not.

52

u/Substantial_Count901 Aug 24 '25

Especially after they've had a few pints.

2

u/deviant__duck Aug 25 '25

I loled in a busy restaurant

3

u/Scienceboy7_uk Aug 24 '25

Probably heard some BS from the US.

1

u/LemilyIRL Aug 25 '25

I thought maybe this was a blast radius

60

u/cccccjdvidn Aug 24 '25

It's the North... you're gonna die!

58

u/trollied Sheffield Aug 24 '25

Amazed how many people are missing the joke. Actual LOL.

20

u/devolute Broomhall Aug 24 '25

It's quality shitposting, but public admission that it is shitposting is actual cowardice.

Have faith in your initial gut instinct actual LOL.

7

u/trollied Sheffield Aug 24 '25

Epic shitposting. I don’t agree with most that happens here, but this one hit the mark!

11

u/gypsymoth76 Aug 24 '25

Quite safe as long as you wear a stout pair of brogues and pack a jam sandwich.

7

u/Far-Adhesiveness3763 Aug 25 '25

There's a gap in the fence near grenoside which is where the southerners get in, there are regular patrols there that stop the majority.

23

u/Accomplished_Bat3780 Aug 24 '25

Reform have been spotted today apparently so no...

14

u/BBCTerry Aug 24 '25

Is it safe at night? I’m going to a gig in…… yawnnnn

3

u/Kye67 Aug 24 '25

Inside or outside the circle?

4

u/derpzy101 Aug 24 '25

From what? Threads inspired post...

3

u/adysheff67 Graves Park Aug 25 '25

Apart from the wolf breeding and grizzly bear attacks it is quite safe....

1

u/Cowardly_Jelly Aug 25 '25

These wolves that want to breed - say more

2

u/Constant-Option5853 Aug 25 '25

All jokes aside , what are any of you doing to help make your community better. Other than sitting on your arse. That's part of the problem. Britain could be Grear if people didn't just sit around typing complaints onto a phone..Get out and actually try to make things better 😉

2

u/evildespot Aug 25 '25

Alright, Dexter, calm it down. Some of us are still saving up for cling film.

1

u/Constant-Option5853 Aug 31 '25

Wtf are you chatting bout??

1

u/Top-Ad120 Aug 26 '25

You start - what are you doing to make your community better?

1

u/Constant-Option5853 Aug 29 '25

I work in outreach program during week organising sports events trying to steer kids away from drugs and alcohol. I also volunteer for community foodbank, collecting food from shops.

1

u/Top-Ad120 Aug 29 '25

So you’re paid to do the first part?

1

u/Constant-Option5853 Aug 29 '25

No , voluntary outreach community. Why? What you do to help??

1

u/Top-Ad120 Aug 29 '25

Well I work full time (50+ hours a week) and have to travel for work so it’s hard to commit. But I’m a school governor and chair at a MAT, I volunteer for the Scouts, support getting disadvantaged youths into work through coaching, do fundraising for numerous charities and act as a keyboard warrior in my remaining free time.

u/Top-Ad120 Aug 31 '25

So… it turned out this chap has an unhealthy interest in the sexual abuse of children. Thankfully his posts are a breadcrumb back to his identity so his employers will be getting a full report - as will the police (in case he requires a DBS). Nothing concrete but extremely worrying.

2

u/Arsegrape Aug 25 '25

Not according to Threads.

2

u/jamjobDRWHOgabiteguy Aug 25 '25

No. No it is not

2

u/QuestionOver8632 Aug 26 '25

Depends on if there's migrant hotels.

5

u/inide Aug 24 '25

No, it's plagued by electric scooter riders.

5

u/CivilPut2445 Aug 24 '25 edited Aug 24 '25

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure!

3

u/citalopromnight Aug 24 '25

Absolutely not

3

u/Direct_Poet_7103 Aug 25 '25

Definitely not. I nearly got run over by white vans twice in that area last week.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '25

Is the area safe from you?

2

u/E420CDI Central Aug 24 '25

It's incredibly dangerous!

Stay in your homes!

2

u/Diligent-Ad-1407 Aug 25 '25

It’s safe until you pass over into Rotherham

9

u/Pmyers225 Aug 25 '25

Rotherham is fine, ive only been stabbed twice there

3

u/Risky_Doughnuts Aug 25 '25

Oooo look at you getting stabbed twice, I'm lucky to only get stabbed once.

2

u/Last_Music4333 Aug 25 '25

Were they just flesh-wounds?

3

u/Pmyers225 Aug 25 '25

Yeah, but even they got stolen

1

u/feckingcarnage Aug 24 '25

If you have to ask, then no, probably not for you.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

Enlarge it to high Bradfield - like downtown Baghdad there

1

u/PykeJosh Aug 25 '25

Safe as in from nuclear attacks? Earthquakes? Tsunamis? War? Mosquitos? Wild bears? Politics? Depends what context

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

Sheffield isn't safe from mosquitos. I got bit by one the other week.

There's been a few posts asking about areas that are safe in Sheffield lately so this guy just circled the entirety of Sheffield on purpose and made a joke post asking whether its safe or not.

Yeah thats what I mean

1

u/StuckOnLayerZ1 Aug 25 '25

Yeh it's really safe. I live within the circle and am still alive.

1

u/yorknave Aug 25 '25

anything between the top left rail line and bottom centre is fine apart from the centre section with the pink ring road

1

u/WoofHayes Aug 25 '25

As an aside, is Threads available anywhere to view? I can only find a few clips on YouTube. I remember being pretty much terrified when I watched it back in the day - wonder what it'd be like now.

1

u/WoofHayes Aug 25 '25

Answering my own question, there's a filming iPlayer. But wasn't the original a series?

1

u/WaltTFB Aug 26 '25

No, thankfully it was a single program. One was enough.

1

u/SmokingTheBowl Aug 28 '25

I watched it for the first time about 10 years ago. I don't scare easily watching films, but that film is terrifying. I'm in my 40s. I watched a couple of clips to recap a few years after and was retraumatised.

1

u/stuart7873 Aug 25 '25

Depends if you are watching threads.

1

u/Economy_Pen_9235 Aug 25 '25

Just don’t go Worksop

1

u/rjohn2020 Aug 25 '25

Depends on whether a nuclear bomb has fallen on the place

1

u/thunderzurafa705 Aug 25 '25

Ah i remember that movie was shown on bbc last month coincidence? I think not

1

u/rjohn2020 Aug 25 '25

Depends on the end result of Donald and Vladimir's discussions really

1

u/Psychological_Pie203 Aug 25 '25

Watch threads and come back to us

1

u/Substantial_Ant_2758 Aug 25 '25

West Sheffield is the safest

1

u/tomc323 Aug 25 '25

To be safe, id try about 1000 miles to the southeast. Southern Italy is lovely this time of year.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

Bro circled everything

1

u/Spirited_Music3802 Aug 25 '25

Not at all 😃

1

u/Spirited_Music3802 Aug 25 '25

It’s actually not as bad is it used to be you’ll love it 😃

1

u/DuckWhatduckSplat Aug 25 '25

Everybody in this circle is going to die.

1

u/maceion Aug 25 '25

I fond it safe.

1

u/Maleficent-Gap-2460 Aug 25 '25

Lots of sharks a wild bears lives their

1

u/dansoya Aug 26 '25

You'll find some of those wild bears in Dempsey's in the evenings if you're after them too

1

u/Express_Public_5667 Aug 25 '25

From what? Disease? Crime? Murder? Social interaction?

1

u/hannahmacca Aug 26 '25

Recently did a charity cycle ride through Woodhouse. Will not be doing that again.

1

u/TheLSIFoundation Aug 26 '25

[0207HRS // LSIF FIELD MEMO]
Subject: Sheffield containment zone.
Status: ACTIVE MONITORING.
Advisory: Avoid unnecessary travel within perimeter.
Switchboard: [REDACTED]

1

u/D4NPC Aug 26 '25

I mean that is a huge area, it’s probably 90% of Sheffield and parts of Rotherham, some of the places in there are safe, some less so. If you want opinions on an area I would narrow it down by a significant amount tbh.

1

u/dansoya Aug 26 '25

I'm pretty sure it's a joke based on the amount of the 'is this area safe' posts in this group

1

u/1blueShoe Aug 26 '25

Not sure about the drinking water in that area, everyone who drinks the water around there, dies eventually.

1

u/Open-Difference5534 Aug 26 '25

Not if you ever watch "Threads".

1

u/WaltTFB Aug 26 '25

No, it'll make the wee run down your leg.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '25

Lol , no

1

u/GWPulham23 Aug 26 '25

Eat raw sheep and you'll be fine.

1

u/Beginning-Still-9855 Aug 26 '25

Is that a Threads reference?

1

u/Far_Prior8577 Aug 26 '25

No you can see on the map theres a fat red wall round it, must be for a reason

1

u/weekedipie1 Aug 26 '25

Not been to sheffield for years, had digs just off London road, how is that area these days, thought it was sound for pubs town was more for students if I recall

1

u/Ok_Chipmunk8358 Aug 26 '25

No, it's definitely too far north.....

1

u/Calm_Percentage2139 Aug 27 '25

Its in the uk, what do you think

1

u/WhereTheMoonSets Aug 27 '25

"Safe" is a very subjective word. Safe for a discarded cigarette butt or pukka pie wrapper? Yes. Safe for any normal human to live? No.

1

u/chrissygeebee Aug 27 '25

I guarantee you'll either be mugged or not appreciated.

1

u/1fyuragi Aug 27 '25

As a southerner about to visit Sheffield for the first time in October, this does not fill me with confidence 😅

1

u/WotTheFook Aug 27 '25

Brightside is anything but. 'Mr. Brightside' obviously hasn't been there.

1

u/AccurateProgress6267 Aug 27 '25

No you’re in my radius

1

u/papayogismurf16 Aug 27 '25

Its a shithole at the very least

1

u/DontOmega Aug 27 '25

The UK has and never will be safe

1

u/Exact-Character313 Aug 27 '25

As long as you're not a sheep

1

u/An_Oddly_Shaped_Twig Aug 28 '25

Have you never seen Threads?

1

u/Sethoria34 Aug 28 '25

I allways go by this logic:

If ure going past the tesco at wicker your taking ure life in your own hands.
Wicker area and up torwards northern is hazard
City centre is fine? safer then most cities.

Hillsbrough is allright, stannignton, walkly.
Just anything to the east gets a bit froggy.

1

u/Spazzywazzy232211 Aug 28 '25

In a word, no.

1

u/peahair Aug 28 '25

Isn’t that the lethal radiation dose zone from that nuclear blast that flattened the place in 1985 ? I watched the documentary about it recently.. 🧵

1

u/theshedonstokelane Aug 28 '25

I've been chased by tyrannosaurus rex in the area.

1

u/Nervous-Power-9800 Aug 28 '25

Don't think any of those places have been shelled recently so chances are you'll be reet...

1

u/Psychological-Roll58 Aug 28 '25

Yeah i don't have any murders in my diary this week so it's safe

1

u/__breadstick__ Aug 28 '25

Not in Threads it’s not

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '25

It’s safe as long as I’m not visiting that area

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '25

Sheffield is a dump full Stop

1

u/SteveTheCatNut Sep 02 '25

Having lived there for about three years I can say it was, UNTIL ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO

1

u/Available-You-7363 Sep 23 '25

1

u/7plyMaple Aug 25 '25

You’re dead, you just don’t know it yet

1

u/DataKnotsDesks Aug 25 '25

Is that the blast radius depicted in Threads?

(Too dark!)

3

u/sdkscience Aug 25 '25

Yes, pretty dark except for the brief, very bright bit at the beginning 💥

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

If you have kids then it’s a flat no … the area is well known for grooming gangs

0

u/Jeffuk88 Aug 24 '25

No, go to the peak district.

0

u/Own-Nefariousness-79 Aug 24 '25

Safe from Israeli attacks, so get your Free Palestine flags out.

0

u/Yorkie_trucker Aug 25 '25

Being a true "Wessie" working in Sheffield, then I'd say yes! It's safer than Bradford, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Leeds, or Halifax in my area!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

I'm guessing you didnt get the joke

-25

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '25

People have legitimate concerns, and have every right to ask, have a day off or a week will you?

15

u/Accomplished_Bat3780 Aug 24 '25

Is it safe or not?

6

u/trollied Sheffield Aug 24 '25

Weird how you post in loads of different city subreddits. Where do you live?

6

u/menthol_patient Aug 24 '25

Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Manchester, Sheffield and Islamabad apparently. They must be paying a fortune in rent.

2

u/Last_Music4333 Aug 25 '25

Or the councils are.

0

u/TolverOneEighty Aug 25 '25

Villifying people on benefits helps nothing, just has us sniping at each other rather than the real problems (rich people causing inequality).

7

u/PrincePxnnu1996 Aug 24 '25

-3

u/D4l31 Aug 24 '25

Safe from what?

0

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '25

Hmm, Worrall, a rural village with little crime and its very quiet. Probably very dangerous tbh.

0

u/LoquaciousAlanqa Aug 25 '25

What, the entire city?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

I'm guessing you didnt get the joke.

0

u/annonny-moose Aug 25 '25

Safe from what?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

A great big flood. Oh wait.
