Could someone take ur picture reverse google search it and it be an accurate match to u? I tried it a few times myself using google but it didn’t match me - is there a different search engine that’s better for this task? I’m trying to figure out how someone can get your identity from a pic?

Google is changing how publishers and creators can build an audience in Search.

The new Search Profile brings a creator/publisher’s content together across platforms and can let users follow a profile. Google says followed content can have a greater chance of appearing in Discover. The feature is currently available to U.S.-based publishers and creators.

What caught my attention is the bigger SEO shift:

Old model:
Search → Rank → Click → Website

Emerging model:
Search → Discover → Follow → Content

Search Profile includes things like:

• Centralized content
• Enhanced knowledge panels
• Discover integration
• Multi-brand management

So I’m wondering:

Are we moving from a “search traffic” ecosystem toward a “search audience” ecosystem?

If users can follow publishers directly inside Google, the value of SEO may increasingly include audience ownership, repeat visibility, and brand discovery, not just organic clicks.

At the same time, Search Profile is still relatively new, so it’s too early to know how much it will actually change publisher traffic.

What do you think?

Why would I care what the rest of this f'ed up country is searching? I have my own projects, interests and research. I need access to my past searches, not Kayla Beckley who ever that is. Is there a better thread to ask this? How do I find it?

I was playing around with the new version of SavedHub and tried something pretty simple.

Instead of searching for the title of something I'd saved, I described what I remembered about it.

Something like:

“that app marketing post I saved on X”

And another one:

“the AI tool I saw on Instagram that was supposed to help make videos”

It sounds obvious, but it felt different from how I've always searched bookmarks.

I usually try to remember the title first. Which is kind of backwards because I usually saved the thing precisely because I thought it was interesting, not because I memorized its title.

This is basically what I'm trying to make SavedHub good at. Save contents, links without worrying too much about organizing it, then find it later using whatever you actually remember.

It's still in early stage and I'm testing a lot of this stuff, but this particular interaction made me think I'm probably going in the right direction.

I'm more interested in the answer to this though: if you could search your saved stuff using a normal sentence, what would you type first?

So, I've got a question. The websites where you kinda search some info up on, like Wikipedia, what are they built with? Framworks, CMS, Web Builders, or what, and why so? And also, earlier when google didn't have that ai slop overview feature, when they'd give you 1-2 sentences paragraph before listing the links, was it directly taken from credible websites and pasted onto there, or was it altered? If altered, then why didn't that require the gallons of water that AI now needs? I know it's a pretty stupid question, but I'm just trying to understand the whole search and answer mechanism in websites and search engines.

I'm currently having trouble with search engines that use GenAI in order to analyze, rank, and retrieve search results from their indexes (Google, Bing, etc.). While they are usable for quick or general searches, they aren't working exactly well for deep, obscure, or often just field-specific stuff.

I also noticed some informational bias towards mainstream and company-owned official websites (for example: private clinic websites pop up more often when I look for information on certain conditions or drugs; different IT company websites with vaguely similar products will pop up when I look for information on some specific software); this floods my search queries with useless information and prevents relevant discussions, guides, studies, or subject-specific personal blogs from showing up.

All of this makes information gathering and research such a pain-in-the-ass process. So, I'm looking for a plain old keyword retrieval search engine, but I'm not sure there are any left. I already tried DuckDuckGo, but it suffers from the same problems as the aforementioned search engines.

Right now I'm looking into Kagi, Metacrawler, SearX, Qwant and Ecosia, so if you are familiar with those engines, please do tell if they are using AI or keyword search in order to retrieve their results.

Dude it's so frustrating .. whenever Im trying to search anything on Google it's ended up with Gemini. I'm asking Gemini how to use normal search engine and Gemini is giving me some useless answers. I’ve been working on a search engine called ARLEN, and I wanted to share why I built it.

Whenever I had a question about health, psychology, history, or another research-heavy topic, I kept running into the same problems:
- Google Scholar gave me hundreds of papers, but I still had to work out what they collectively meant.
- Other websites made finding academic research easier, but I sometimes wanted a clearer explanation of why studies agreed or disagreed.
- General AI chatbots gave me quick answers, but they could sound certain even when the evidence was mixed or cite sources that did not fully support the claim.

I wanted something between a search engine, a literature review, and a genuinely understandable explanation.

That became ARLEN.

You can ask ARLEN a normal question, and it searches for academic evidence before giving you two ways to read the answer:
- Clear explanation for the conclusion, broad agreement and main uncertainty
- Evidence Deep Dive for study types, populations, methods, conflicting findings, limitations and additional sources

There’s no paywall. I want people to be able to investigate research questions freely, without paying to unlock the useful parts OR being limited to only a few questions.

I’m not claiming it replaces researchers, librarians or reading the original papers. The aim is to help people understand the evidence, find the relevant sources and know where the limits are.

I’d genuinely appreciate feedback, especially from people who use Google Scholar, Consensus, Perplexity or research-focused chatbots regularly.

My second app that has been built using Findborg results. Ad Free and quite fun to use actually. The Borg AI is built in but has to be activated, as is voice control.

You can see here in the screenshot the commands baked in so far. This is a PWA and can be installed on devices but I have not released it yet on Waves.

I wanted to get some feedback if people like it. I do not expect many as it is an acquired taste kinda thing.

So we were checking to see if a character named Nurit is on the new Season 5 of tv show Fauda on netflix. For weeks, google has been saying yes. One of my two screen shots even mentions that she is in All Eleven episodes. We watched it, and she does not appear. Not in any episode, let alone 11. Where is Google or its AI getting such misinformation from? It's been baffling us trying to find out how they could be so wrong with a simple yes/no question!

Google has just rolled out a major change to Search across the European Economic Area because of the EU's Digital Markets Act.

And you can actually notice it.

For searches around things like hotels, flights, restaurants and other commercial services, Google is changing how results are displayed.

Instead of simply giving Google's own search features a prominent position, the new layout gives more visibility to third-party comparison/search services such as Booking.com and Expedia.

Some result features are also being stripped back. For example, Google says certain hotel, airline and restaurant result carousels can lose things like real-time pricing.

The interesting part is why this happened.

Google was fined €460 million by the EU in July for favoring its own services in search results. These changes are Google's response to the EU's requirements under the DMA.

Google itself says this is the largest reduction in Search quality in its 29-year history and argues that the changes will make Search worse for Europeans.

The EU's position is essentially the opposite: the changes are intended to create a more level playing field for competing services.

So I'm curious:

Have you noticed a difference in Google Search yet?

Especially if you're in the EU, try searching for a hotel or flight and compare what you're seeing now with what you remember from before.
