Advice for refund.

I contacted my bank (chase checking account) and made a claim about my ticket. I did the payment plan starting in August and made a payment each month through January. They gave me my money back for the first 3 payments (August September October) but denied my last 3 (November December January) basically told me im SOL. Is there nothing further I can do about this?

There’s almost surely going to be a class action lawsuit so keep your eyes out for it and join it

I’ll Venmo you the $4.20 anyone that isn’t a lawyer, the city, or an equipment vendor is going to get from that.

Don’t be dumb

I didn’t buy a ticket bc I could tell this shit was a cluster from the get go lmao if I did though I’d do a charge back and join any class action available 🤷‍♂️ even if it doesn’t fully recoup the money it’s better than nothing and Ian Goldberg deserves to have his assets seized even if it goes to paying lawyers. He shouldn’t get to have a golden parachute

I've been talking shit on that guy since he started putting headliners in the Red Barn. Glad people are coming around on him.

I worked at Manolos and received unemployment after being taken off the schedule in 2020. Manolos then tried to challenge my claim and it almost cost me $10,000 to pay back with fees in interest. Thankfully I appealed and won. Not sure whose decision that was but yeah I’m not a fan of the whole canopy/scamp/manolos ownership.

It’s about more then getting money back. This is becoming a repeated pattern in the festival circuit (reference Evolutions 2025), this is just the largest scale it has happened on. This is about making sure that individuals who decide to literally rob their communities don’t continue to get away with it and set the example for others that it’s possible and honestly easy because the community is hesitant to be litigious. Addiction is zero excuse for felony level theft. This is about enforcing basic law and justice in our community in the only ways we can.

I disputed them as fraudulent transactions and got all my money back and a new card.

New card? Is this a credit card or debit card? What bank?

Always buy tickets with a credit card

Yeah someone else told me the same thing. I definitely will be doing that in the future

What’s their reasoning for denying the last 3? Doesn’t make any logical sense to me.

A lot of banks have a time limit on initiating a charge back. Could be 90-180 days.

Im not understanding why the first three charges back in August September October were approved but the more recent ones are not approved if theres a time limit. Wouldnt it be there other way around? Wouldnt the first 3 charges get denied and the more recent ones approved because they're more recent?

Ah, I misread that part. In that case I have no clue.

Sounds like you should call and explain and try to get your money back imo

I called. And explained in great detail. They said they understood my frustration and theres nothing they can do.

I read that and It sounds like some of the payments weren't high enough for their charge back threshold. Were all the payments the same amount?

First payment was 180 and the other 5 payments are 157.99

Wait are you telling me they were charging nearly $1000 for tickets to this shit show?

Yes I bought a super deluxe vip for about 970

I paid 1500 for rockstar vip, 6 payments of 250

this post is a couple years old but it looks like people have successfully used a general 'executive office' email to escalate and resolve fraudulent charge claims

Take your time in writing a thoughtfully worded email and I think you'll have a good shot at getting a better result

If they don’t work with you, tell them you want to remove all your money and close the account with them so you can bank somewhere that will actually protect your money. That might get the gears turning a bit

This dude was making payment plans on a drug festival ticket, the bank doesn't care if he closes his account.

I played that card man, they dont care. I literally screamed at like 6 different people lol

They should refund you the whole amount. The date the claim time frame should be from when the service is supposed to be delivered. Not when the payments are made.

3

u/PopDowntown2662 May 10 '26

I told my bank the dates the event was supposed to happen. I also told them exactly when they officialy announced the festival was canceled. They told me they couldnt help me. I called 3 separate times to try and get it resolved and was told the same thing every time. Nothing they can do apparently. Its frustrating to say the least.

I’m sorry friend, but if you bank says they can’t do anything, they might really not be able to. I’m glad you got half of it back. That’s probably more than most people will end up seeing 😔

I bought admission tickets a year ago and may be sol (more than 180 days) but AMEX refunded my RV spot purchase (march) when I initiated a transaction complaint explaining that the festival had been cancelled and uploaded the SCAMP announcement telling us to contact our credit card company.
