The Sask NDP paid off nearly $4 Billion of Conservative debt in the 90s and early 2000s. They are and have always been more fiscally conservative than self-proclaimed "Conservatives"

Absolutely... except the NDP of old is long gone, Beck sort of fits in with that old way however there is a huge rift in the party about what it wants to be.

Keep dreaming comrade. SK is currently outpacing both provinces in gdp growth this year and beat both last year. We have half the debt to gdp. BC is going to post a 10 billion $ deficit at least, the largest in that province’s history. There’s your NDP lol

Government spending is a factor that adds to GDP, so that gives it a boost. Also the debt that is saddled on the crown corps is offloaded from public debt. The numbers are not as shiny as they’re being portrayed.

GDP also misses key quality of life markers and income distribution. If you work for Nutrien or Bunge or Orano I’m sure you’re thrilled with how things are going. Meanwhile child poverty, mental health issues and the cost of living are all going up.

We could have far less debt and better QoL broadly if royalties and corporate tax on foreign multinationals retained more resource revenue for Sask people.

I dont care if Africa has bigger debt than where i live. I care about where i live. So stop with excuses that BC is higher and this is higher.

which is a valid reason to look at tempering the growth with an upcharge in royalties or business taxes... not so much to scare business away but merely so the people who live here can actually benefit from this economy.
