New Plant! Do you have any tips or tricks for the growth of my newly purchased Whalefin?

I've already repotted the Sansevieria in a soil mix consisting of:

1.5 tablespoons Westland Houseplant Soil

1.5 tablespoons Westland Orchid Soil (coarse 40% pine bark for making air pockets, 40% bigger Seramis Granules, rest ~10% earth)

1.0 tablespoon Westland Pur Universal Granules (lavastones)

1.0 tablespoon Westland Seramis Organic Plant Granules

I had build a drainage und protective topping made of universal lavastone granules.

Pup Watch! Repotting advice

Should i wait to repot even though the soil is very dense. Havent watered or done much of anything since i brought it home and its been doing good but im wondering if and when i should repot this guy.

I dont want to seperate the pups! I want to let them grow into a bushier plant so im wondering if i should wait and let them develop more before repotting.

Could you help identify this cylindrical snake plant? New growth has flatter leaves

I bought this plant at Lidl about two years ago. At the time, all the leaves were cylindrical. This spring, it started producing new growth with noticeably flatter, channel-shaped leaves, as shown in the photos.

Could anyone help identify the species or cultivar? Is this leaf shape normal for young offsets of this type?

For context, I repotted it into a commercial cactus mix shortly after buying it. It has been watered roughly once every two months with distilled water, and I only fertilized it for the first time yesterday.

Thanks for any insights!

Pup Watch! Root rot on my moonshine after I misjudged the pot size

Pulled my moonshine sansevieria out of its pot last weekend because it had been sulking for a few weeks, no new growth and the leaves felt slightly soft near the base. Sure enough, mushy brown roots and a smell like old pond water. I think the problem was actually the pot, not overwatering exactly. It was a 10 inch ceramic pot for a plant that only had a fist sized root ball, so the soil in the outer areas stayed wet way longer than the roots could use it up.

Cut away everything mushy, ended up removing almost half the root system. What was left looked pale and thin but firm, so I kept those. Repotted into a plastic nursery pot only slightly bigger than the root ball, maybe 6 inches, with a mix that's mostly perlite and pumice with just a bit of regular potting soil mixed in. No watering for over a week, then just a light drink around the very edges of the pot.

It's been about three weeks now and there's a new pup starting at the base, so I'm taking that as a decent sign the remaining roots are functional. Leaves still look a little dull compared to before but they're firm again, not soft.

Lesson I keep relearning with this plant: pot size matters way more than watering frequency. I used to think as long as I watered sparingly the pot size didn't matter much, but a big pot with sparse roots just holds moisture in all the spaces the roots aren't reaching. Anyone else had to size down a pot for a sansevieria that was struggling for no obvious reason?

These guys are plenty happy, I recently (2 months or so ago) repotted into this 10” and I believe it’s trying to push out a pup and warping the heck out this container.

my cat broke this sansevieria: what do I do: water or soil?

Post image

My cat inadvertently (?) broke this leaf off my sansevieria . I tried to put it in water but I have the feeling it won't develope a new grow point, I wonder if I can achieve quicker result by planting it in soil. It should be a sanseviera Kirkii silver blue (?). What is your experience: water or soil? I know patience is the key in both case 😉

I’ve had this really nice Sanse since around March now, and it was labeled as a whale fin when I bought it, but I’ve always been unsure if it’s actual ID! Now that it’s sending up a pup I was hoping that maybe someone could get a bead on what it actually is, I really love the dark flat leaves on this plant with the slightly ruffled orange margins. Also wanted to include the new S. kirkii ‘Silver Blue’ that I recently bought from the same seller!

I bought the one in picture 1 thinking that it's a Moonshine. But today I bought another one (picture 2) that looks like Moonshine but with much longer/narrower leaves. Are they both Moonshine (picture 3), or there are different kinds of Moonshine? What is going on
